I didn't test it on air. With SS initial boot up @ 53X/PLL enabled/LLC10/1.54Vcore bios/4cores/HT off.
Most of times if it stuck @ 4E after F10 then good chance that cpu max is <52X or <5300Mhz

Bought yesterday a dud, L042B243 2600K, thought it would do decent coz, was it Dumo? who got it to 58x? Mine wouldnt go past 5ghz, and it needed 1.52v to be vantage stable. :(
Now I have a new one, L108B066, but I don't believe in good batches anymore.
with 4.8Ghz at +0.050 voltage offset Im getting like 70-75-78-71c with a D14, I've remounted this several times already.. such a huge temperature range.. wish they would all normalize to 71-71-71-71
just scored a 3102C197 best of two worlds costa rica c batch chip. Will report later on OC
I had a lot of Costa Rica but they're all bad.
4.8Ghz with my C124.

Odd, both my 2600K's wont even do 4.5Ghz unless the VccIO is set to 1.100v is this a bios issue or a mobo issue? Im using F4 bios.
Probably found a better one right now
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/1803912.png
Tested for max clocks @1.6v and I reached that. I don't know if it can reach higher anymore
L108B066
But this does NOT happen at 4.4 ghz? (and it does not happen on Prime blend @ 4.5 ghz?)
Something's wrong...VCCIO is supposed to affect memory, and small FFT tests the CPU and cache...
I havent tested it at 4.4Ghz, actually I when I got my mobo UD4-B3 i went with F4 bios right away. 2 chips wont budge at 4.5Ghz unless VTT is 1.1 A friend of mine with the same setup went with F3B and has 4.7Ghz on all auto. So I tried F3B and left everything in all auto and just removed the power saving thing. So far its been running smallFTT for the last 15mins fine.
if anyone is interested in my good CPU... PM

Good?
Bad?
Too Much?
Way too little?
This blows, 4.5Ghz with 1.360VID and - 0.025v offset gave me a BSOD after like 9hrs in Prime95 Blend with 124 error code.. What could be wrong? Is there a faster way to check for this.. waiting like 9hrs and it BSOD's after is just pure bummer!
@little_scrapper
So I manually spread it around instead of using pressure to spread it ?
EDIT:
I tried to manually volt it at 1.360 w/o any offsets this time
Ran 30 loops of LinX ( I dont really like this as ppl say it degrades the processor so fast )
Right now at stock 1.050VTT
Memory at 1333Mhz 9-9-9 1.5v
HT-OFF, all power savings off
All other voltages in AUTO, PLL over voltage OFF
http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/.../quest_4_5.jpg
On the first page 123 says VTT/QPI so I should be playing with the VccIO right and not the Vcore?
I would need some help in OCing my 2600K, should I continue to post here or just make a new thread?
Here my settings for 5Ghz
for over 5 Ghz i go to LLC 75%,Phase Controll to extreme,VCCSA 0.950V,VCCIO 1.1V,PLL 1.8V and the rest the same on my screen.

asrock xtreme6 vs Gigabyte UD7?????
I have 2 x I7 2600K one can x55 but max is x54 on water, and one that can x57 but here is the max also x54? on water, same voltset must use both CPUs, funny enough:confused:
may be my motherboard will not anymore, have looked a little on hwbot, and again Regt run over x54 in 3DMark tests Asrock xtreme6......
Is Gigabyte UD7 so much better to overclock ??????????
ok ty
Efficiency wise seems GB still has got the upper hand in 3D01 and 03... I don't need really that much more Vcore , in fact the UD5 requires even less ram voltage with the Hypers then on the M4E... (and no it doesn't overvolt :p)
Each board has it's strengths and flaws...
Mayeb you can try the new easytune, didn't it have XX values for loadline ?
Easy tune requires intel drivers right, can they be uninstalled safely?

Does command rate have any effect on the required Vcore for overclocking ?
I am so unlucky with 2600K...

I've been getting round off errors trying to get 4.8Ghz stable, this starts from 1.440vcore upto 1.470 ( highest I've tried ) I have the RAM at 1333Mhz 9-9-9-28-1T to rule out ram issues. I've tried running my RAM at XMP profile ( G.Skill 6-8-6 @1.5 1600Mhz with HCI memory test 1000% coverage and 2 loops of Memtest86+ )
I have LLC enabled and all other voltages in auto, this error pops up after 2-3hrs.
Nice chip and score there angkies.
Some also have reported that on their MIVE it takes +0.050 more voltage to get the same clocks as compared to what Gigabyte needs, I think its all in the luck of the draw for the CPU. Each mobo delivers power a little bit different so some CPU's might work better with Asus or GB. But I've heard a lot more people that with the Asus board they require lesser voltage.

Guys, slightly OT but still relating to SB clocking - what are the best 8GB (2x4GB) rams to buy with highest clock and best timings? I had a set of ripjaws-X 2200c7 but sold them to move try a 970 but now Im looking back at SB again.
zsamz - by your sig you own both atm, how much difference is there in benching between a good 1366 near 5ghz with good rams and your SB setup? Im mainly doing 3D11 and 06 with some vantage and the odd earlier fm.
Cheers.
2200 cas7 stuff is one of the top sets you can have for sb;) love my 2200 cas7 pis
i doubt my cas6 mushkin bbse are better but gonna see next week or so
i know 30h6 sellin a nice set of ocz 2x4gb but forget about warranty ocz needs an invoice
if they had some sort of warranty i woulda bought them already
my 920+e760 is good for 5.0 stable so is my 2600k
but my 920 needs phase cooling .2600k needs water
sandy alot easier to overclock n faster but boring
i love the rex best
Cool, sb may score higher easily but then the fun is over, set the multi/vcore and its over, 1366 has alot more tuning options to try to optimise.
:-/
Okay so i'm not posting picture since i'm not done yet, mainly got questions...
2600k L048A937 D2 Rev
4.3ghz @ 1.28V @ about 68C on 2 cores slightly less on the others.
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B
P8P67 Deluxe
Gskill Ripjaws 1333 CL7 (7-7-7-21 timings)
I seem to crap out if i go any higher. Is it possible i just REALLY need to bump up Vcore a lot? Also are these temps acceptable on that Vcore for a megahalems(i got 2 fans on it, some... no name and a 140mm noctua)? PLL is currently auto, i have not tried adjusting.
Any suggestions? Or should i just leave it, i am happy with 4.3 :)
Ever tried to calculate costs benching with SB and 1366 ?... with ya 970 you will be rapidly limited by board ( Bclock ) in the 3D department... find a good SB and it will eat ya 1366 for breakfast in benching... only 980 and 990X are still the ideal bench CPUs to due their unlocked multiplier...
Also less LN2 required ( if you want to push ya SB to the max , ideal temp control is must ) eg I have to keep my 5666CPU between -10 and -15°C, otherwise supeprpi32m and 06/Vantage CPU tests will crash, I can bench close to 5600 on the phase... but it's hit and miss then... sometimes it will erratically return me to the desktop as temps are too high or too low at a certain moment...
Indeed a SB CPU can be maxed out within let's say 10-20 minutes from opening the box... 1366 can be more fun to tweak, but so is REX and E8600...
Yay got my 2600K stable at 4.5GHz 1.35v. I tried 4.8 but i need like 1.44v+ and i'm not really comfortable with it. temps at 4.5 is low 70s and 4.8 is low 80s with a ambient of like 30C+. So far im runing LinX with AVX and getting 101Gflops and it seem all well. im happy. i still would like to hit 4.8GHz stable, what are alright voltages for it 24/7 1.45v?
@m4gg0t
I did a google search on safe voltages for SB and a lot say its only upto 1.380v loaded, some say 1.40 to 1.45v loaded I guess it really depends on the chip.
I've been at 1.45V loaded for 4 months on some of my chips and haven't seen any degradation but I have heard some do degrade pretty quickly at more extreme voltages.
guess no 4.8 for me.
dare not give more Vcore on water, but it has x57,try with an SS next
it's made as a quick test, no fin tun whit mem.............;)

Will 4.8 with 1.45v be ok for 24/7? i havent tested this yet but i will try later today with the new bios 1409.
does offset work better then actual voltage? Cause i'm seeing with CPU-Z that my clock do not down clock to 1.6GHz it stays 4.5GHz constantly. I got SB because i wanted 4.8GHZ
After six 2600K (better was a X53) i tried a 2500K
I think its more easy to find a high multi 2500K because this one is the second 2500K that I tried...first one was a X55 also
I will try 2 more 2600K and if I don't find a good one I will give up...the hunting

I recieved what appears to be a new 2600K batch number a few days ago: 3101A298. Absolutely zero google results for this. Anyone else test one of these? I wont get a chance to dig into it until this weekend when I swap out my Lynnfield. Looking for 5ghz at 1.4vcore on excellent watercooling... :hrhr:
5Ghz with 1.4v is a bit hopefull even more with these new batches...

Really nice results there Makubex. I would love to get similar results with my 2600K w/ HT enabled... Cant wait to dive into a nice OC session on my new SB build this weekend.
edit: Makubex seems to have a previously unheard of batch number as well... Makes me even more anxious to check out the 3101A298 that I have.
and vice versa :p
As far as I've been able to find prime showed worst then linx ( with avx) for Sb testing. And it take longer to test. But here is a huge thing I use 8Gb of RAM which makes the runs a lot longer therefore they are harder to pass. 4Gb linx with avx in Sb is piece of cake
Exactly, in the pass I've found Prime95 harder to pass. I thought Linx with its ridiculous unreal temps would be better but in the pass I've run Linx with no problems and then not last a minute in Prime95 blend.
That said no application that I run makes my CPU as hot as Prime95, let alone Linx. With my high room temps (I live in PR and have no A/C in my PC room) I prefer not having my sweet new CPU set of fire and possibly degrade it too quickly.
Currently I'm going for 12Hrs of Prime95 @ 5GHz OC with 1.368v. So far 10hrs have passed, so it's looking good.
PS. I have a set of 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM on its way, I'll run it again once I have it installed.
Each person has it's own preferred stability test, if it plays all my games and folds without an issue it's stable for me... I don't waste my time with hours off silly hardware torture.... I have passed LinX tests with 12GB on X58, yet Bad company 2 couldn't stop crashing to the desktop... if that game plays for hours online, then I deem my PC stable enough as it's CPU, ram and GPU being tested...
These stress tests are nothing more to me than pure bragging rights to some : I own a 5ghz CPU with bla bla volts...
If it does 5ghz at 1.4 or 1.45 ? Who cares, it might be you, I don't... Get on with it and do something usefull with all the power you own... you guys are wasting so many cycles for a lousy screenshot...
Low voltage is nice for reduced temps and degradation, that's about it.
Uhm I like stability testes because my mood goes really south when I'm playing for instance a SC2 1vs1 ladder game and I've a crash :ROTF:

This.
I find it well worth spending a few days beating on a new build to make sure its %100 stable. I know that if it passes some Linx runs along with 6-8 hours of Prime95 that I will never have a problem with it in day to day use (gaming).
Plus, I have always liked coming back to a heavily OCed machine after a few hours, and see my stress tests still cranking away.
Makes me go:
I agree with this, I was so obsessed with passing prime blend for 24hrs and I end up pretty disappointed of it BSOD's after 16hrs or so.. but its stable with my every usage. So when I test for OC, MAX of 2hrs primeblend and a lot of low-mid loads using 2-3 instances of Pi at 32M then I game on.
 I tend to never discount what Leeghoofd says about stability testing hardware. Maybe some people need to read it more than once to figure out what he is actually saying. But to each his own, just don't complain when you degrade the pi$$ out of your CPU running stabilty tests that when all is said and done total days upon days of absolute torture.
Passing stability tests doesn't mean you system is stable. Never has, never will. That's just a few of the things I've learned from the hardcore clockers here since I joined. Find a happy medium and start actually enjoying your build.

I would have to agree with Leeghoofd and bluestang on this,
LinX and blend dont guarantee that you will be stable. I never tried to play blend or LinX 1v1 in a ladder match, maybe try testing in the game you play. I could pass LinX all day and have issues in BFBC2, so at that time I started using it for a stress test instead of the usual methods, and I had a lot more fun testing that way.
I wouldn't use BCBC2 as a sign of stability or lack thereof, since many many people have been having issues with this game and not necessarily because of an unstable overclock. Try several different games to better assert your stability.
And many people have passed blend and linx and had issues in other things such as games for example. My point is there is no guarantee, but if it is stable in the things you use your machine for then call it a day, and what better way to test than doing the things you will be using it for on a daily basis.
Let me put it this way. I bet I can grab your BF2 "stable" system and make him BSOD like hell ( well if are in the limit of the system ofc) , let's say a SB at 5Ghz. Then I'll give you my LinX stable system and gl trying to crash it  . It all depends on how you do the tests... If you run 5 passes of linx with 1Gb of ram... ofc it isn't at any time stable...
And I'm sorry if I don't like to trash work or loose a game because my system gave me a randomly nice BSOD...
L047A901 max multi 52x. Voltages aren't stellar but it gets to the fabled 5ghz w/ linx avx. Voltage drops to 1.472 when loaded.
Get a subzero cooling, play those lenx and BFF games @ 5.5Ghz and start enjoying your system rig:D
I've a prommy here getting dusty, too many problems to use it back again. Was my daily cooler since 1st conroe ( x6800 ) until the end of X58 :p: with some upgrades during this time.
Also my SB doesn't linke under -30ºC
