You should rather get another card and not a new 8800 GTX, your card was a gem, if the new one is worse your investment is "wasted". Rather get a 8800 GT or GTS. :)

i bought the dead 8800gtx for like 70EU incl shipping, so that was 2nd hand aswell. and it was a real gem yeah :(
im still crying myself to sleep! my first thingy i killed whilst benching i think, murdered a 4670 aswell, and a 9500GT, but they just died on a reboot or so, not during 3dmark runs.

sold my domi gt 1866cl7 aswell if all is right, buying some hyperx 2000CL8, hope to get a multi higher on some benchmarks :)

linuxfan and i should be pushing boints this weekend. I think i should be able to get about 100 bionts or so benching my 920, and 5770. Not to mention a 5870 sometime in the hear future.

Don't use anything older than the 9.12 because 9.12 gave a huge performance increase.

Yep, the CPUs are now ranked by # of cores so your Wprime scores aren't worth much now globally....

If you have a 5870 its worth a ton now because its the best ranking single GPU card out....

Sure, I run loads of high end hardware... just not enough time to really get into 3D benching I'm afraid. Also not willing to fry or kill anything that is worth a thousand times more as a cruncher than a bencher. Also, half my rigs run unreleased CPUs, so no boints for them. Oh well.. off to sleep for now. Maybe I can score some boints for the team tomorrow..

I'm prepping OSes now... two HDDs with fresh installs of W7, Vista, and XP...
Should have time to test bclk on the R2E and get more effecient Wprime runs...
Tomorrow I should improve my 3D 5870 runs and get the GTX 280 going again... :)

Run some 3D benchmarks with your 5870, you can get a lot of points with it!

heh need ln2 for that 4980 but it will do it :) ...... that gigabyte 4850 is non ref, :shrug: on a voltmod for it and no softmods that i can figure out.

Seems my 4870X2 hates win 7, looks like a vista install is on the to do list.

On a side note, seeing as the 4870x2 is in epic fail status in win 7 i'm taking a break, will tackle more tommorow, couple more gpu's needing some love ;)

Be happy it's a non-reference card. The reference cards have major issues with the OCP and modding them is a pita because of the VT1165 controller.

Make some high-res pics of the PWM area with the voltage ic and I reckon it will be no problem figuring out the hardmod.

Improved my GTX 280 05 and 06 scores barely...
Trying to work with the R2E board... I miss my UD7... :(
It'll go through the RMA and get back within two weeks anyway... :cool:
Going to take a break then try to get my 5870 scores beaten... we'll see how it comes together though...

Its fun benching AMD again:D The scores I submitted today can definitely be improved on, I was just getting a feel for what the cpu can do and using 05/06 as a test. More will come later on.

my stuff is on the way back from Vegas - and I will hopefully land this job soon so I will be in better form than ever soon :)

Edit - I expect to be able to crack top 100 and 500points soon :) but will take time,effort, planning, and support, and some skill refinement

Edit - I like being underestimated :p:

Edit - going to get livestream fixed up in my garage and have 3 MS HD cams for it - now to find a good play list and get speakers, receiver and tv in garage lol :)

Pin17 is FB, so FB to GND will work untill OVP kicks in (probably around 1.5V). Best way to mod is to work with the VID table as it works around the OVP. But that will really make your card un-sellable :D

Measure resistance at leg (or preferably more accessible point) and do it x10 (since you plan extreme OC). It'll already overvolt a bit on stock; if you don't want that, use 20x

i was waiting for a 20k VR for my 4870 and massman's post convince me to try it with a 10k, only problem is i forgot to read stock volts, anyway i just passed 925mhz on gpu, 950 failed tho @ 1.44vcore(stock res is 1k)

Trying to find an 8800 GTX for 110 shipped or less now...

Edit3: For fun I decided to run a new MSI X58M motherboard... turns out the 2nd ram slot isn't working... Ran all of the tests with dual channel and got horrible results...
I'll stick it back on the R2E hopefully tomorrow and get real scores. :up:

Yah not sure if jiga has 240 in it but 235 I know is :up:

P55 mod a sucess on paper at least see how it fares with cold.

Massman, values are a tad confusing at least compared to my ref 4850.....but this is what i came up with.

Looks like that resistor/cap is easier to grab the mod at.

I followed trace on pcb.

If that correct it looks like I need a 75k VR, reccomendations on "turns"?

I'd get a 100k vr (easier to obtain). You'll have to measure the voltage as you turn the VR as different types have different number of full revolutions from 0 to max. Besides, at your desired voltage levels you will be adjusting by a few degrees rotation, not full turns, due to log scale on the VRs.

Besides, at your desired voltage levels you will be adjusting by a few degrees rotation, not full turns, due to log scale on the VRs.

Yah would probably be a wise idea to find vgpu measure point before I go ahead and do it.

Looks like I can get 10 points or more for 01 anyway with my i7 at 5.1. :D

Too bad, 10 points is good though.

I will go for 01 with my 8800 GT when I have my REX + E8600 going, I just need to figure out why it won't pass 01 at more than 700MHz while 05 would not even crash at 750MHz. :(

Can someone please find ~40 points? :D

Yes sir, those 40 points are coming in a few hours, this evening(it's 2pm here)!
I have about 30 points in this card to get today amd vista has at least 30 points that he's going to get today... 13k here we come! :D

thanks dan i would get those missing points, but i'm having some issue here

i've run 03 and 05 and i get significant lower score with 50-75mhz more on gpu i don't understand, plus i keep getting "irq not equal or less" BSOD and can't figure it out, sometimes pc wouln't even boot with setting I've run so many times.

i should be good for 06 silver at least when i get this rig working properly
so i'll have to delay aq3,03,05 when i can clock this cpu properly

i'm kinda bum right now, it was going so smooth friday and early yesterday
need a break, and i'll get back to work tonight if possible

Nice work with the 4870, I actually ripped mine out of my 24/7 rig which is why I didn't beat on it to hard, glad you are picking up my slack. I will follow through on 4890 and 4850 class seeing as both cards are disposable :)

Your bottlenecked cpu wise with the card clocks that high. Try some PCI spped up to like 110. Your probably going to need higher cpu clocks though. Also sometime with ati you need more ram clocks to unlock some power out of the higher gpu.

Well, i had a crappy day of benchmarking. Didn't have the right OS's and 3dmark 06 WOULD NOT work because i was using a 64bit OS. gah.

Anyways, so i just got ONE today (facepalm) Grabbing 3dmark 03 tonight, and benching that in the morning before school.

Its on a fresh XP 32bit install with all of the other 3dmarks working fine... Tried it with the GPU@stock too just to make sure it was't the issue...
Can't wait for the other 8800s to come in! :up:

The issue is likely the v8 cooler plus your voltages. Your next one could be better though.
Maybe I can come over this evening and help you with your oses and break 27k. :up:
