mine is 3941B077
pretty curious to see how far it goes
3941 B047, 21x200 4.2 stable at 1.4core 1.96 pll 1.35 qpi. Max temp 63c. In my opinion not an outstanding example.
All dimms occupied
max qpi link
HT enabled
3924A
21x200 @ 1.31v
+150mv VTT
1.35 PLL
1.3 QPI
1.7 vDIMM
PCIE @ 101
Just picked up a 3941B047 as well.
The seller (EBAY) claimed the following performance for this batch:
Current batch number is 3941B047
My testing results
2.66ghz @ 0.93V
3GHZ @ 0.944V
4.0ghz @ 1.21V
4.488mhz @ 1.425V
4.640mhz @ 1.425V (not stable)
My motherboard is Asus P6T deluxe with beta bios 0006
Memory G-skill perfect storm 2000mhz
Perhaps a slight exaggeration?
is it me or is itt really that increasing batch number makes CPUs less exiting, the first batches of D0 used to overclock better than current batches and uses less voltage!
I have a D0 3923A and I need 1.36v @ CPU, 1.22@ QPI/DRAM and 1.81@ PLL just to reach 4.2GHz, if I want to reach 4.4 which is the maximum I could achieve with my R2E then I have to ridiculously increasing voltage as following:
1.46@ CPU, 1.32 @ QPI/DRAM and 1.89@ PLL !!
That's with Blck 210, any thing higher than that and it is very instable at any voltage also any thing higher than 213Blck and the PC won't POST.
I have to add that IOH and ICH needs a bump in voltage also.
I think that INTEL could be binning better i7's as Xeons more now
than they did early in D0, and that is why the 3849B, 3845B, etc. are the better overclockers. Basically, INTEL is probably far enough along into D0 Bloomfield process that they are better setup to keep the absolutely known primo chips from being sold as 920's.
The odd part is that some people say report that oc Xeon Bloomfiled
is the best, and some apparently not. Still luck of draw, no doubt, as CPU's are definitely unique.
Other than that, when can we expect to find batch "C" 920's?
Batch "C " !?!?!?
DO you mean XXXXCXXX ??
I got a 3941B092. Since i m on stock intel cooler atm , the best i could achieve is 21x182 @ 1.20v (3 passes of LinX, stopped after cause of 87C on core).
I wouldn't even consider overclock 100 MHz over stock speed with a stock fan.
You Mr. have some balls !!! :yepp:
Last month before I spent the money had on an HTC Hero mobile phone, I was tempted to buy either a 3932Bxxx 920 or a 393xA xeon 3520.
From your experience guys, which one is better, Please note that there is a price def. 100$ for the xeon.
Picked up one the other day for 200$ at a local MC. Cant find any info on the FPO/Batch#. Maybe you guys can help! I'm still waiting on MB, RAM and blocks before I get everything up and running.
Core i7 920 D0

FPO/Batch# 3918A495
OK guys, I'm in the market to buy me a new single slot Geforce to use it as a physX with my CrossFireX 4870X2 and I came across these :
a Xeon for 440$ :
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...3/IMAG0001.jpg
and a 920 for 320 $:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...3/IMAG0002.jpg
Is the 120$ worth it ? I'm not sure really.
Also any word over these batches ?
I'd go for the 3918B083 stepped chip.
I have the 3923A batch and I'm not sure is my R2E limiting me to 210 Bclk or the CPU doesn't like any thing higher than 210, I don't want to burn 320$ just to find out it is a mobo issue !
But again there is no way to tell other than switching the CPU!
3845B260 @ 4.881 :)

Finding the next 19MZ to get 4.9Ghz a slight challenge.....
Don't tell me that's on water !!?!?
Nice indeed!
3942A***** , does 4.0GHz on 1.2v Prime95 stable (2h) outside chassi and with a Scythe mini-ninja with two 1200rpm push/pull fans giving a max temp of 70c. Did take me a while to find out how to oc the i7 architechture, coming from core2. Once I got hang of qpi and pll importnace my voltage could be reduced from 1.35 to 1.2v. I'ts mounted on a MSI X598M board together with 6 Mushkin 1600MHz sticks. Board does 225 BCLK with mem slots fully occupied, very nice board for that price! Gonna drop a better cooler on it and se what we can do. Is there any need for lapping the i7 cpus? My old q9300 dropped 8c when giving it a overhaul with 1200 paper...
Well, I did use the auto option in MSI bios to help me get up to 4.0-4.2 on max auto volts which was 1.365v. Auto feature gave me a max 1.7v on pll and 1.39 on qpi. In a perfect world the auto function would know the specific character of my CPU, but I guess they rather trow in a bit too much on the qpi when going on high bclk and staying "safe" on the pll (wich are rumoured to kill CPU's). I did some quick research and lowered the qpi to be a bit closer to my intended vcore of 1.2v and landed on 1.35v. As for pll even Intel states that 1.8v is fine, so I changed that to 1.8v. Then I just throw a session of Prime95 and started to lower the vcore in windows with the MSI oc util. Landed on 1.2v, you can imagine my joy when I continued to lower the voltage and the primesession kept on going... :D
4GHz on 1.2v is not supergood, but it sure is a helova lot betta than 4GHz on 1.365v... Just bought a True Black and gonna lap that and while I'm at it lap the CPU as well. Just for fun...
Nice to know Clint. 4Ghz @ 1.2v is very good. Lap that True Black (not sure about the cpu though :P ) and push it some more :)
Damn it ! Man get yourself some water cooling stuff and overclock your CPU to 4.5 NOW
Batch 3931A
1.3vcore bios (1.264 cpuz)
21x191 20 linpack / 12 hr prime stable
920 3941B076 11/11/09
200x21 4.2GHz @1.3v
linpak64 stable
ucore realy doesnt like anything other than 2x ram
probly anus's regulation to blame for that though
Later i will post da batch, now i have some screens:

I have water cooling in the cpu and in the 260GTX.
Enable HT, you will get better score in 3DM06 ;)
i think i dont have any advantage to have HT on for gaming, because of that i dont have it enable, but i will try, thanks for the tip.
Hi wanted to add mine too Batch 3836A288
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/756...d440566620.jpg
HT gives performance gains but also makes your processor run much hotter. Unless your temps are very cool right now I would not recommend enabling HT. I have a 3942A, I'll post OC later.
Foxconn Bloodrage GTI
G.Skill DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24 1.5v
Stepping: D0
Batch: 3942A
Reseved (I'll have it done by end of week)
post updated, my 920 batch is 3849A765.
I dont now why but when i pass 214 blck my 260gtx have some problems in 3D, 4500MHZ is very nice overclock
Depending on your board, try setting your PCIe clock to 101 instead of 100.
I'll be looking forward to you're results. I have a 3943A D0. If you can, mind listing specific numbers, qpi/vtt & etc. I'm still waiting on my cpu cooler & probably won't be until late next week :(
Thanks in advance.
edit: I'm glad you guys are pushing more than 4GHz; once I hit that point of 4.0GHz I'm done. Maybe shoot for lower vcore, but 4.0GHz is what I want, nothing more.
Sold my 965 EE, got a 920 3943A521.. are these good batches ?
whats the consensus on the 3941B045 Batches?
CPU: i7 920
Stepping/Revision: D0
Batch: 3942A
MOBO: Foxconn Bloodrage GTI (BIOS: P09)
4.1 GHz (210x20) @ 1.36v LinX 100+ pass stable http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=906494
I think I could get by with 1.5v just fine or even 1.4 but I am working on getting up to 4.2 GHz right now so I went ahead and set the voltage up a bit.
Overall, this isn't the best chip out there but it will serve my needs just fine. Temps stay well under 70 running LinX, the hottest core stays around 60 running P95 Small FFT. Basically,
CPU: i7 920
Stepping/Revision: D0
Batch: 3942A497
MOBO: GA-X58-UD4P
http://i46.tinypic.com/14917p1.jpg
And will do 4.0Ghz at 1.3V
20-25 LinX passes will do. :)
Just click "All" button or pick the max amount of free memory your system has yourself for higher stress level. :)
CPU: i7 920

I sold my 920 batch 3923A and got a 950 batch 3931A packed in November.
The bad thing is, my crappy R2E died on me !!
It lost one of the pins ! I hate LGA !!!
I had a batch 3903a which sucked. That chip would not run 20 LinX passes @ 4.2ghz on anything less than 1.365 Vcore and wouldn't post at anything over 201 bclock.
That lemon has been exchanged for a 3937A which seems to suck less, looks like it does 4.2ghz at around 1.329 Vcore; a bit better, still tweaking this one.
here is mine :) 4.5GHz, voltage 1.33
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=905719
I have a 3922A415 batch and I need 1.34-1.35V for 4.2ghz HT off. I've found 3939Bxxx on eBay for ~$300 (inc international shipping). So what do you think guys should I gamble or just bite a bullet and stick with what I've got?
24/7 settings, HT on. 3849A895 on water w/HK3.0 LC.

^^^ update ur LinX 0.5.7 ..........
Major version now is 0.6.4
3931A is an OK batch. It has a high VID (1.28) but there is someone on the OC forums that is running 4.0GHz on a 3931A318 with stock vcore, and 4.2 is somethere is the range of 1.36.
I'm waiting to see what mine can do (3931A318). Can't go past 3.2GHz at the moment, as my PSU starts sucking too much power which overloads my UPS.
3941B092, 21x184@1.2v, vtt auto, memx8 c7, 5 passes linx on stock cooler. My classified EK block is finally here. So mid week i will install water loop to see how far this cpu can go.
I picked up a 920 batch# 3945A936 from micro center. I am still deciding on a board, I hope to be joining you guys soon. Any suggestion on a good over clocking board? Have been looking at the Giga UD7, the Asus P6TD Deluxe and the Classified, Classified is more than I would like to spend on any board, but if it is worth it I may try it.
the P6TSE is a cheap yet good board.
Classified or UD7 imo, see if you want better looks and digital PWMs of Classified for a few $ more. :yepp:
Thanks for the replies, the only thing holding me back from the ud7 are those ridiculously large heat sinks, I wont be water cooling the board, just the cpu. Will decide this week sometime and try to have it for the holiday weekend coming up.
Last question, I have 2 2x2gb kits of the DominatorGT-CMG4GX3M2A2000c8 from my 1156 rig ( got both kits for about the same price as a 3x2gb kit would have cost ), is there any reason I wont be able to use 3 of these stix with the 1366 platform?

my question is its CO/C1 or DO stepping?
I think that Xeon's can't be C0/C1 revisions.
Hi guys
Merry christmas for all.
Recently I changed my pc for one higher. Gigabyte UD5-X58, I7 950, 6 GB rams Mushkin Extreme and watercooling.
I want some advices about a great OC, Can anyone help me?
thanks in advanced
when its a BO/CO/C1 whats about the temps and v-core nearly @4,0-4,2ghz
its a big difference to a DO stepping?
vCore, yeah, definitely. I wouldn't buy anything but a D0 tbh.
Ok, after two days of fine tune:
Xeon W3520 Batch: 3931A356

omg..great chip :)
Yeah, sick, I need like 1.33 for 4.2 for mine on air... I think I have a crap BIOS, though, so I'll try to go lower when the new one is out.
But doubt it's going to be lower than 1.3 which is crap. :(
Max temps @ 77C under LinX load, though, so looks like vCore doesn't affect them so much. On the other hand, whenever I go for 4.4 I am pretty screwed.
Wow amazing chip! Where did you find it?
HI!!.
Today i bough a core i7 920 D0 batch #3943A507 and i don't find nothign about this batch or similar to get some references :S.
Hi mate u seem to have some selling skills but i didnt ask you to advertise my chip as ITS NOT FOR SALE!, i like to share my findings with people who are intrested, now if my benchmark / Test result is hurting your eyes i suggest you look away. and talking about stupid prices well, only clever people would have a good estimation!
