Couldnt add picture to last post..

Just recently bought a ihs-less 165 from someone on XS, dunno the stepping or anything, whats the crappiest o/c people have gotten on 165? Can I expect 2.65ghz on a big typhoon ?

865, how high did your 0550 OC on default vcore (prime stable) ?

default vcore : bios auto windows ( 1.312v). 2830mhz prime stable 8-10 haurs..

Best VPMWs are getting 28XX with 1,24Vc.

What's the info on your chip and what type of cooling? I'm just about to build a 170 CCBWE 0609FPAW in a watercooling setup. I'm hoping for 3ghz as long as I can keep the temps sub-40C.

It's a 0550VPMW, had some probs getting temps down earlier.. Cooling: Cheap Crappy ThermalTake Bigwater.. I guess this CPU would fly even more with waterchiller!

3 ghz at only 1.45 :thumbsup: wisch mine would do that , seems like my 165 needs moore cooling to go past 2.7GHz at least now its stable at 1.475v 2.7 but load temps are real high around 53c

You need to swap that core with my 170 that need 1.488Vcore to get 2.8GHz :eek: :D

I have an Opteron 170 0550 VPMW on an Asus A8N SLI Premium with OCZ Platinum Rev2 3200 RAM.

I was able to get dual Prime95 stable a few months ago at 260 FSB with RAM at 1:1 (400) 2.5-3-3-6.

I started getting some weird STOP errors that indicated RAM could be an issue and decided to run Prime95 again.

To my surprise, I am now only able to run stable at RAM settings of 3-4-4-8.

My question is, what is the likely culprit - one of the core's memory controllers or the RAM itself?

Could it be due to changes in my Windows XP SP2 environment since then such as AMD vs Intel CPU drivers, hotfixes etc.?

I read somewhere that TCCD memory can lose it's overclocking ability when run at high voltage (I was running 2.9V) over time.

Wow that's alot of voltage. 1.612v applied, and most DFI's actually overvolt over the spec, they just under-report like hell. Nice way to show it's strength, but I'd think twice about leaving that for 24/7. ;) Just a thought.

for that speed and vcore his temps are pretty nice though :)

Welp, it just arrived. I ripped open my FedEx box with anticipation, to see an odd looking OEM container. The last one I had was a typical AMD processor jacket, but was a bit smaller and with no foam, as the sides seemed to hold it in place. THis one, however, doesn't look like the correct container at all (damn big container) and has a pink foam piece under it. Unlike my last one, this one I can read the stepping clearly throught the plastic,.
