Ok this is my first post on this forum and I have some issues with this mobo:
My specs:
Intel 975xbx 304 moded with all bios options unlocked
e6600 at 3.3 ghz
teamgroup 2x1Gb d9 micron
psu: tagan easycon 530w
Well my system is orthos stable 7+ hours in this configuration with the 1333 strap +10%, ram in 3-3-3-8 on 667 2.1v (1:1 - tested with memtest86+) but I get into troubles when I try to add other pci cards.
If I add a network adapter my system restarts when I dl...ok no biggy I removed the network adapter and I use the onboard one. If I add a creative soundcard my system is restarting at random times, (tested with 1304, 1334 and 1351 bios) and when the problem occurs my Mb makes some sounds similar to an old broken engine starter and the problem only goes away if I shutdown my pc, turn the psu off and press the start button a few times.
I want to know if theese problems related to the pci slots have been experienced by other users, as they drive me completely insane.
Me too killed 2 sticks of those demn 5400C4s, but i thought it was the fault of the Bad Axe. I had my doubts since 2 sticks BallistiX's survived the same incident. Didnt care much anyway, 5400C4 isnt performing very good.Quote:

Neinhalt, sure you got enough vMCH? Memtest could pass even if the MCH is at its limit i think, i noticed that big FFTs could run fine untill i started multitasking a little and more vMCH did the trick.

Only thing i can think of is PCI frequency isnt set to 33.33. I havent tried at Auto but Audigy4 sure failed and made system unstable when i set PCI to 40MHz. Thats the only thing i can think of, guess you already tried all settings there? (PCI burn-in or whatever they named it)Quote:

weird problem you have.
i have hard drive performance issues when i overclock using setFSB in windows, eg. if i boot at stock and overclock in windows to 3.2 or so, hard drive performance both on the sil 3114 and the intel controller tanks. i also have a raid card in the 2nd PCIe slot and it too performs poorly during the above scenario. if i boot already overclocked at 3.2 then performance is normal and good. haven't tried a pci card but don't feel ike f..ing with a stable system.
makes you wonder about the PCI/PCIe locks.

Both rev 304 and 305 can have the ICS or IDT PLL...... it's a crapshoot as to what you will get.
the rev 305 board with idt chip is good to me i got an e6300 up to 450fsb stable. i lost the validation so i will get a new one today or tomorrow. it crashed and restarted at 453fsb and had to go into the config mode and put it on negative and -20 cuz when u use setfsb it actually sets it internally and it stays at wut u put it at even after a shutdown or restart. so u can run any fsb u want until u find ur wall. all settings were maxed out and vcore was at 1.47.

i am on a 1333 strap with 450fsb stable so the idt chip can oc pass 30% but not in bios. i have the oc debug mod done with conductive ink and it works fine. been like that for awhile now no problems. anything after 30-50% in bios doesnt change nothing. i use setfsb in windows and it saved in the bios chip on the board witch made it so when u boot up everytime it is at wut u set it at on setfsb. when u find ur limit and it restarts u have to shutdown and go to config mode on the jumper,the set negative and -20% so it will boot again. then u no wut ur board can do and u set it to that and ur oc is there all the time. its a very stable board and work great. the nb heatsink at max volt(mch) doesnt even get hot when at 450fsb at full load. memory was at 1:1 450mhz at 5-5-5-15 didnt try any tighter just was seeing the max oc on the board but i think i can go higher with some more tweaking and some mods. heres a pic i found when i had it at 432fsb on a rev305 board with idt chip. i will get u guys a 450fsb validation this weekend

Badaxe Core 2 duo system - idles much hotter in W2K than XP due to lack of speedstep drivers!
E6600 L627 - stock HSF - not OC'd running on a D975XBX idles at 56C in W2K Pro SP4 and in BIOS. The exact same system idles at 46C in XP SP2.

The C2D's rely heavily on speedstep to keep them cool, especially during idle.
XP includes speedstep drivers. But Intel has made it a responsibility of the Laptop Manufacturer to supply these drivers for W2K.
Xp shows that speedstep has reduced the idle speed of my system to 1.6GHz on the properties page of the My computer destop icon.
1) I have seen many forums quote their temps and OC's but few mention their operating system software.
2) I hope the user community persuades Intel and other desktop manufactures to supply speedstep drivers for W2K users.
3) A download from the D975XBX home page gives a link to download the Intel desktop control center (IDCC) software. This is not supplied on CD.
The IDCC which only runs in XP was very usefull in setting the two setpoints for the fan in BIOS. The Badaxe factory setpoints were 50 and 60 celcius. That meant that the fan would run at its lowest temp {either off or slow} till it got to 50C and start to rev up untill it hit its max speed when the temps were 60C. 1/10 of a degree from thermal throttle!
I used the IDCC in XP to set both of these setpoints down 10 degrees C.
4) The Intel E6xx series datasheets are an excelent read, see Chapter 5 for thermal issues.
5) People speak of the temperature at which throttling occurs when in reality, it is not a set point but rather a function of case temp, and current current usage. One could say that the throttling temp for a Core 2 Duo using 65 watts is 60.1C
6) At the throttling temp, two types of throttling occur:
Throttle : turning the clocks on and off rapidly
Throttle 2 : reducing voltage and multiplier
Thermal Trip: about 25C after throttle shuts off the processor
Hi guys, I am having a problem, for past 1 hour I have been trying to get all my HDDs to work with the Badaxe (rev 305) I picked up today.
The 4 black slots seems to be working well, but I cannot get the blue slots to work. I tried with and without the driver but my HDD's from blue slots dont show up in My Computer or Device Manager.
When Install the driver it shows my drives in SATARAID5, I have been playing with the setting and also the bios but no luck.
Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking into hooking up 8 SATA's without any raid.

systool works for me ... setfsb didnt ...
but systool = 400fsb max

So there is no way or trick with which I can use the blue connectors without raid?
When I boot I dont see any drivers or devices loading, the screen stays blank until the the ctrl S option appears.
