DFI final S939 Motherboard CFX3200 ATI RD580 results

Hey, i accidently Enabled "HDD S.M.A.R.T. Capability" on BIOS and when i get into windows suddendly the sistem freeze. i say "WTF is that", hit ctrl+alt+del, nothing happened, then 10second after system get normal . :eek:

Well, i start thinking for myself, «what am i do before start the PC?».
Then i remember that i have "Enabled HDD SMART Capability".
Well, all i have to do then is to shutdown this :banana::banana::banana::banana: and Disable this option :fact:

:woot: Start the sistem and... no more freeze !!! :woot:
Must be something to do with that option :D
Try Disable HDD SMART and tell me if you get no more freeze :)

Default is disabled... Installed Windows AGAIN on a single 160GB Maxtor with the 2.20 drivers and latest beta bios. Same :banana::banana::banana::banana:... Also when I enable ULi raid I cannot use the Silicon Image controller. While "posting" this error message appears instead of the Silicon Image bios post: Warning: Have Option Rom can not be invoke

This makes me want to smash this damn board! Owned quite a few DFI boards but this is just killing me!

Don't uninstall the drivers, just prevent the utility from loading in Windows.:)

Also, make sure that you are on the latest beta bios....

I have ask for user of DFI NF4 and now have switch for the CFX3200.. i will buy the board, but my money actually don't permit me have the second GPU at same time, in real i need wait ~2 months...
Is the board OC more of a NF4SLI-DR, is new settings in bios and stability will permit me have same or better OC of CPU and DDR of what i have actually with the DFI SLI-DR? ( i plan build CF but need wait a little bit)..
It just for know if i wait a little bit, and look for buy the CFX then..When i m sure build at same time Cfire..

I don't know if this has been mentioned, I didn't see anything about it, though I only glanced through. But the VCore seems to be .025 out in the bios. I've got it set at 1.525 in the bios, but in CPU-Z it's being reported that it's at 1.5v.

the stainless box was made by me using a 18 gauge stainless body with 2 rectagle holes punched for plexiglass on 1 side and rad on other with matching holes punched to sandwhich 3 120fans\case\rad together with 2 inch screws(its pretty slick)with 12 gauge sides tig welded with my computer like welds :D left alone(not grinded)welded to it for pc to sit on and all my crap to come up from the bottom not crowding or adding any heat to case and allowing rad to have its own area.
im a percesion stainless steel fabricater\welder so to be honest this stuff is really a breeze to do for me.i might design the box on cad but then again the things i have in mind are better done on the fly kinda as in mid(baked)build minset..ehe

Seems to have gone all quiet about this board, everyone given up on it or something?

I'm about to, this problem with the ULi RAID is really getting on my tits, beginning to lose all faith in DFI to be honest.

Well, the ASUS has no problems with the ULi, but the HTT stops much too early for my liking with the 9X multi. Can anyone share how well this board does with the 9X multi? I have looked far and wide, posted on many many forums and never seem to get an answer.

I am curious about changing to the DFI, but maybe I would be swapping my problems for a different set of problems. The ULI raid works fine on my Asus board as well, running 2xWD 250 gig in raid 0 and a third identical drive on the SI controller for data storage.

I'm working with this CFX3200 board and a Opteron 165. I got the idea that 4x311 HTT makes the SB unstable. Yes i'm running double raid 0. So thats not a good thing for the stability of the board. But i upped the SB voltage to the max. i also has to upop the NB voltage to the max. Else i would get black screens and vpu recovery's when running 3d. To bad the board handles HTT this bad. My opteron is realy doing nice but my motherboard wont work with me :'(

I think its a hardware issue of the southbridge that cant be fixed with drivers.

If 4x311 is unstable, why don't you try 3x311?

Because i whant more then 1 GHz HTT :) I know that the peformance hit is not high but still :D.

I will do some more testing this week.

Thats this guide from tony where people talk about ? I want to look in to that guide. I want to get some more out of this motherboard.

what your max without using raid

Cant run without :) Windows is stored on that drive + all my data.

But i had some wrong settings. Got the Tony guide and now it runs superb !!! 1350 MHz Htt 4x337 MHz no extra nb voltage :) (1.21v) It was all in the settings.

Odd because I run 318X4. 24/7 without issues of any kind. What are you running for pmos/nmos/HTT receiver impedance values? I found these are quite important along with memory drive strength to really max out the core and chipset. Votage on the other hand seems to do little or nothing in that regard.

It was all in the settings. I needed to adjust the HTT PPL and driver strengt. I was able to run 1350 HTT After those adjustments and i'm still in stock voltage.

So it was my fault :) I'm glad its fixed now and the board runs like heaven :D

Does the AB0 Revision correct the ULI m5288 problem?

I have a AB0 Revision and have had no corruption on my 2 WD caviar 400GB in Raid 0 yet for over 2 weeks.

I also have a rev. AB0 too, but I have the time-out error of the uli m5288 :mad: So it is not fixed in this revision. I think I have to change back to my lovely Ultra-D board.

I will not connect my SATAII -drives to a SATAI-based controler on the pci-bus... stupid sil3114.

Glad to see it's worked out for you. Increasing the PMOS and NMOS strengths will also help to increase margin on the link without having to increase the HT voltage.

Hey Grayskull thnx for the tip on Pmos/Nmos asynchronus setting. Gained me a hundred Mhz core and 3 Mhz memory with no timing changes. Much appreciated.

I'm thinking about buying one of these, as i can get one cheap from a friend.. now i just want to ask..
is there any known critical bugs with this board as it have been with the earlier DFI board? i mean no ram killing, cpu killing, or coldboot problems or so?
I don't have time to read the whole thread, so i would be glad if somebody could help me telling if there are any bigger bugs with it. Thanks!
