I can't seem to apply over 1.6 vcore with it just turning off on me!!! I want 3ghz :slapass: , whats the highest vcore safe for air, since i can't relie on my temps.

I'm having trouble with my ocz rev2 seems to be able to do 225 at 2-2-2-5 that parts great but I can't get it aboutve 280, well i had it at 2.80 fine now i get thousands of errors, i've tried so many things i've lost track, think it was the bios change. I needed to run 1:1 or I won't be able to sleep well at night.

I just did a superpi run at 2.8 and ram at 280 2.5-3-3-7 and did 30 secound does that sound about right?

What kind of drop in times would 3ghz bring?

Ahh, you have the same mobo as me.. isn't that funny.. I DO NOT understand why these things shut off b/c it is NOT heat related on my system and its NOT power related either. It is either:

A.) Bad mobo
B.) Bad ram (I ran my winchester @ 240 FSB 1:1 3-3-6 2.8V 0 errors)
C.) Memory controller on the processor is bad

My system I see 48C-49C under load and this is only at 245x11 :( Highest Vcore on air I would go is 1.65, which I've done, and it STILL shuts off after 2 hrs of playing Guild Wars or letting UT2k4 loop. I have tried every bios for the K8N Neo 2 and I cannot figure out what is causing my rig to shut down. Possibly chipset overheating but I doubt it.

This is with an XP-90+92mm Tornado on highest setting, 7 case fans, shop fan in front of the system. I can touch my heatsink and ram RIGHT AFTER the system shuts down and they aren't even barely warm.

I have no other ideas short of trying this:

1.) Run ram slackest timings as possible I.E. I have it running 3-4-4-8 2T @ 255MHZ
2.) Run processor @ 1.72V (K8N undervolts)
3.) I just decided to put a 80mm tornado on directly in front of my chipset fan to see if it was overheating.

Between the three, I will start to elminate them one-by-one. I pretty much decided my ram is not the problem since it was stable at one time 1:1 @ 240 FSB with my winchester no shut offs. Now I will say this processor will do 240 HTT as well, same ram timings, but it shuts off anything over 240 on the San Diego.

Maybe between the two of us we can figure this out since we have similar systems. I think the mobo is at fault here :rolleyes:

BTW-I have seen a couple guys in the San Diego thread have 56-60C temps and their systems never shut off like ours with a DFI Nforce 4. I wonder if there is some type of issue with these chips and the Nforce 3 boards at certain voltages?

Well I haven't been able to figure it out as of yet either, this board is a really b**** when it comes to clearing the cmos.

My board will do ~385 htt I haven't played with agp voltages yet, as I don't think its like the intels where it helps the memory controller. But the board seems to have lots of head room left.

My ram did 280 the first day now it does about 275 :S I've been switching bios alot trying to get the ram to perform better. But I'll deal with this later.

Right now i'm running 9*322 for 2999mhz @ 1.6v in corecenter really its 1.5v
I agree lets try to solve this dam problem, I know I can run higher vcores because the thermal probe on my heatsink has yet to hit 30c. So I gona keep trying bioses and try to take as much out of the equation as possbile.

I no longer think its my psu, I thought it was something to do with the processor and it shutting it's self down to proctect against highvcore or maybe temps. I don't know but ill keep testing and keep you posted let me know if you find anything new, current bios is 1.41mod.

Ps. do you know what effects the weak and normal drive strength? in bios does? or anything to help the ram clock better?

your links don't work for me. what vcore did you use to get to 2.9 and 3.0ghz ? and what stepping is your 3200 ?

If your asking me... to get 2.8 i used 1.4v, 2.9 @ 1.5v and 3ghz comes at 1.55v-1.6v but then computer shutdown :S. were working on that.

Cpu info lbble 0515 apaw.

Your using the same board as us, try to use 1.7 in core center or bios 10%+
see if your systems reboots.

10*290 is stable at 1.400+ 5% for 1.5vcore. for 7 hours prime.

So I booted at 10*290 1.400+ 8.3% for 1.55vcore and then did some memtest32 in bios and it shut off before complete a full run. :S I tried playing with the thermal shutdown, figured maybe even tho it was disabled it was shutting down at say 60, so i set it to 70, but still no go.

I don't know what else to try on that test I took everything out of the equation I could think of. You have any luck?

Maybe these new boards have a problem applying over 1.55vcore? I got my board a month ago, what about you?

try different multis, some cpus seem to hate certain multipliers.

i have had my board since it first came out. I read about how the first batch were complete crap so its no surprise mine is a POS.

I just did everthing above, it FINISHED superpi (32m) and I come back after a nap and my pc was off again. The amazing thing to me is if it were heat and or the processor:

A.) It would shut off sooner
B.) It shouldn't run right!

I had superpi going, guild wars in the background, and winamp running all at the same time for an hr before it shut down. I had a 80mm tornado on the chipset, and ran the ram as slack as possible.

I wish I wouldnt of canceled my venice order now just to help eliminate that it is the actual board and not that we got bad processors. I see people all the time with our boards and these processor, why is ours shutting down!? You are the first I've seen to have this happen.

Mine can run 3ghz and shut down, I bet yours shuts down even lower then you are saying. Try running it 10x260 1.60-1.65V and I bet you it shuts down..

yeah thats what I ran a setting I know was stable and at 1.55vcore (1.5+8.3%) and it shutdown before it finished all the testes in memtest32. :( damit.

Ok i'm gona go get multi 7 and 8 at 300htt with 1.55+ vcore.

Maybe its the mosfets on the board overheating? But my tornado is cooling my board like mad the air flow is insane and so is the noise im going crazy.

You said you lasts a few hours? Mine donesn't last more then 10 mins :confused:

250FSB will last a couple hours. 260 FSB is like 30 min maybe if I'm lucky. I wonder if those mosfits are overheating as well? My airflow is amazing in this case and I just don't know what else could be "overheating"

I am running 240x11 1.65V (undervolts to 1.60V) and I am having no problems at all. I really wonder if we got bad chips, or if our it truly is our mobos? I was going to buy a venice and see but now that you have the same problem I doubt thats it.

I tried 270x10 with no luck, system still shuts down. :(

Can someone please offer up some suggestions?

So far I tried 290*7 and at 1.5+8.3% and it finished one round about 15 mins then I moved up to 8 multi and it passes now it's doing 9 multi.

Only thing I did was remove the side panel and lean it againt my case.

interesting, let me know how 9 works out for you. I want at least 2700ghz and i'll be happy. If 9 doesn't crash on you I will try it as well. What HTT are you using for 9, and what HT multiplier? I assume 3x? What ratio on the memory?

My memory is out of the equation its running 183 2-2-2-5 well with in spec and it's memtest right.. im not getting any errors so I think the mems fine.

Yeah I got msn I'll send you it via pm, the 10 multi just passes at 290fsb and i'm gona let it loop again just to make sure then go up in steps of 2mhz from there, maybe you just have to break the board in.

300httx9 HT3x 166 divider on the ram, 250mhz @ 2.5-4-4-8 2T=shut down after 20 min :( temps 46C

Now i know why you can get to 2.9ghz, if u are using TCCD/UTT and etc and set 1:1 i think it may had bad memory controller. =/

well I can get there just not with out errors ive been in windows with memory at 295.
I'm getting help over at the ocz forums about this.

I got +8.3% to boot into windows with 3ghz, right now i'm gona work on my ram then ill try for 3ghz stable.

ists looking so, that my 3500+ is getting stable now @ 2700 mhz and aircooling after some weeks. but i have to give him 1,61v. thats a lot of juice with aircooling.

see what'd I tell ya about multis, also if you got TCCD try lowering your vcore, if you got UTT do the opposite.

My 3500+ venice seems to be a good ocer. here are some faint infos that i can remember off hand. it's a LBBLE 0515 or 0516 week and it's PAW. I have the codes at home. Anyhow, i've been playing with it for a few days now. My setup is a dfi nf4 sli-d with an antec 550W psu with 24pin connector, xp-120 with an antec 120mm pro fan(slow spinning, but supposed to have good airflow). Now for the ocing parts. it can boot into winxp at 2904 264x11 with g.skill pc3200 2.5-4-3-7 at vdimm 2.9 and vcore is 1.5 x 1.13%. 1M superpi passed, sorry i don't have screenshots(didn't bother to save it). 260x11 seems to be a stable speed for me with vcore at 1.5x1.10% which passed 8M superpi and 32M superpi. Prime95 will not run stable though :(. here are some more infos, room temp is a bit hot, but don't have a thermo to measure temp. :(. case temp(no idea, prolly hot too), 2 120mm fans in case(back is sucking hot air out and front is also sucking air out), 120mm fan on cpu is blowing air on xp-120. which is better? sucking or blowing air on heatsink? Right now i'm waiting on cooler master aquagate mini(watercooling) or asetek vapochill micro. I know this cpu has potential for better ocing, but i really don't want to spend too much on cooling like mach 2 or phase :). any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. thanks.

Havent really been following this as I go Pentium M now.

Whats the verdict on the Venice? Higher %-overclock than the Winchesters on average?
