I'm starting to keep an eye out for any possible kick ass NF3-250 boards. At least they are sure the lcoks work and no reports of FX53 problems like Asus.

I had 3.1 but it wouldn't post with it. Today it posted acouple of times with CorsairXl's and BH5's at around 2.9 something but only randomly. Something odd.

Right now at 2.8 in bios I meter at 2.867. (no mod on) Maybe cause my 3v line is 3.5.

I also got frustrated and removed the FX53-939 IHS and it lowered temps 5 deg. It was harder to remove than I remember.

Removing the IHS certainly does help and I'll do that in the end I'm sure. When I measured my vdimm without mod it read 2.86. Hopefully, I wont have the same trouble as you have had with the vdimm mod.

I've been looking for a nf3-250 board from the begining. The gigabyte board looks like it might be good and should be out relatively soon.

I HAVE to build a new system asap, and was also one of those who were holding out for a 939 board.
You've used the A8V which was my prime choice to build the system around (matched up with an AMD64 3500 ). Now that you have had the chance to see how 939's seem to be performing, and their problems...... what would you go with now, or what are you planning to use?
Inquiring minds need to know. Thanks.

ok so no boot above 2.86....
can you boot at 2.8 and then adjust to 3v+ AFTER boot???? Like when in BIOS or the desktop?

to me it was worth the wait. When someone with a working board that locks gets there hands on a high clocking 9800xt or a x800+ vga card it will make a better showing. In car high of 3dmark01se i can best Storm PC's 217x12 at only 220x11 and 2.6ghz on air with at least my chip isnt going to be hard.

I would most definitly feel diffrently if i was in the seemingly majority of people who's locks dont work.

Again, no suprise here. Like you're really going to say it's not worth it...right? And car high (as with most of the 3DMark tests) really likes high FSB and memory bandwidth.

BTW...I just got my CPU tonight. Only had time for a couple of benches.

Anyway, if you have any money left over, sell that 9800XT and buy an X800 so you can put up some decent benches.;)

a x800xt was planned in the budget. But i smashed up my car on the 5th so the budget had to be trimmed. The original idea was to go 3400+/nforce3 250gb and a x800xt but i only a week or 2 later the s939 hit the shelves but right around that time i fubared my PoS car. Only run me about 140$ more for the 3500+/a8v set up than the 3400+/nf3 250 would have. And i wassnt calling you out when i mentioned your car high score or anything, just use'n it as a refrence.

To me thats the line, if your just now gett'n a a64 and are planning a 3400 or faster chip. To not go s939 doesnt make sence to me. LOL and being one of the about 3 or 4 people posting around the varios forums to get a board that locks with the 1005.020, i cant say it wasnt worth it LOL. If my board didnt work like alot of others i would feel diffrently naturaly but i knew the risk of going with brand new stuff, if i wanted to play it safe i think i would get shunned here at xtreme:cord:.

Top50 on the hexus pifast challenge(if they ever update the list), 24k+ 3dmark01se with a shiat clocking card, 33s and falling superpi all on the retail cooler. Its going to be very interesting when i get my watercooling set up, looking into possably gett'n some ocz 3700EB for some 250~260 1:1 action and a x800xt in august.

I just got my EB3500, stuff went right up to 274 dual channel Cas3-2-2-8 on P4C-800 mobo useing 3.3V.

Never tryed that voltage. Booted them right up at 3V, I had to start upping the voltage from there in the 250s.

damn. Im not fond of vmods and my xms3500c2pt 256 meg sticks do 242 at least(jump from there to 250 LOL and didnt go) at 2-3-2-5 at 2.8v:( i need the sticks anatech got:slobber:

Impact on bandwidth was observed earlier in this thread.

I see and accept your results of better performance in so called "1:1"-mode. But I´m still wondering why...

i dont think there is. given the same memory speed and from my results posted above if there is its DAMN slight(diffrence between 220 and 221mhz DDR and thats got to be within the programs margin of error). Not even i have that much faith in sisoft sandra being accurate across platforms but system to system results are surely comparable. I'll try aida32 later maby and see whats up.

Also x5/1000mhz HT doesnt appear to be working in bios. I left it set at 5x/1000 for these tests. 270HTT test included that would give 1350mhz HT:confused: Sisoft sandra also only reports as x4/800 when x5/1000 is set.

i ve got A8V and 3800+ i will test them tonight i think.

pkrew, there's a beta version. I just got a copy from the SetFSB creator. If you want the zip file, just PM me with your email address. SetFSB does seem to confirm the lock is working on my board. :)

I think so, but I don't know how long term stable. There is something very odd about it though. This worked like a charm on the sk8v. maybe it's just me, but mdzcpa seemes to be having probs with the mod also.

yes according to setfsb my locks are perfectly locked.

Well maybe, but it is more likely that setfsb is just reading the bios setting and not the actual pci/agp bus.

I sent an email to the SetFSB guy, asking about that. I'll let you know what I find out.

I saw this on another forum. Seems like BS to me. What do you make of it? :

"According to ASUS there is no difference in any of there A8V deluxe boards, they say that they have not reworked to board to get the AGP/PCI locks working, also they say that they never sayed that they were going to work properly, it is a VIA chipset problem and they can't get it to run stable. Sorry but the A8V does not support unsynchronised mode because the VIA chipset is not stable under this mode, indeed we never claimed that it would do so, it isn't to do with resistors or a rework on the board. It will support other overclocking features of course. Could you tell us where you saw the resistors mentioned? We would like to know so we can quash this rumour.
