@hoax, one more thing on Rmc's instructions. Make sure you enter different Machine IDs. i.e., For first and second instance, Machine Id 1 then 2, respectively.

Yep, forgot about that. :)Quote:

:cussing: ...got to get that d805 folding at full potential! Hopefully will have that resolved by the weekend.
[edit: @Rmc, sigs updated, you're already ahead of me and all I can see in front of me is :moon:. Only this time it's not me :(. You got some excellent 24hr Avg going there. Well done. btw, we got to watch out, hoax will be on our tails soon too if he gets that LAN and those machines up and running.
Wow... 1,692 points just today... just on my Core 2 Duo system! Amazing... I consider it a great deal of luck though with those p1495 work units.
Had a strange problem though... i'm running at 3.4 on air cooling doing constant folding for over 5 days now... and then my system had a random reboot. :( It rebooted and I got things going again. But now the folding is going about 2x as slow as before. It is still at 3.4 GHz so I don't know what the issue is. I'm hoping it will iron itself out with the next bacth of WUs.
Anyway i'll be able to run non-stop for another 5 days or so but then I have to give it a rest and do some video encoding for a day or two. You'll have a chance to catch back up GAM. ;)
Hello Rmc[AZ],
thanks a lot for the warm welcome, and for the great instructions. I just finished installing the console version and apparently its now really eating all my cpu
I took a screenshot just to make sure things look the way they were supposed to: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...li/folding.jpg
One thing I dont understand yet....If I stop the program before a WU is completed do I lose the frames that were already processed? or can I restart at anytime and not lose work?
I am gonna go pick up one of those routers this week. I have to pick it up locally tho (brazil here) but it shouldnt be a problem. Then I can get the g5 folding. Its a dual so I will try the console version on it too as you suggest.
And GAM.. thanks again for the help. Its really appreciated. I know you guys have a really healthy "competition" going on(for lack of a better word)...but dont worry about me catching up anytime soon...will be at least a month until the conroe is up and running...
thanks a lot for all the help...
cheers
hoax
ps - where do you guys check the points and stuff?
Looking good... looks like you've got it set up right. :)
If you wish to pause the program you can press Ctrl+C... the program will exit. When you start it back up it will be about where you left off, if not a couple frames behind.
When you pick up the router, don't forget to pick up as many CAT5 cables as you need to connect your computers. :)
I like to check my points here: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=36362 Click "Team Users List" on the left to find yourself in the rankings for our team. You will only be on there after your first WU is complete, and after that site does an update (They update every 3 hours.) You can also check out their awesome signature images and include one in your signature as well (after your first results are posted on there.)
You can also check points on the official site: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/...&teamnum=36362 Again, you will only be displayed after you complete your first WU. Their stats are updated hourly.
Hello Rmc[AZ],
Thanks a lot for the once again extremelly helpfull reply.
I am still not on the extremeoverclocking list but I am on the official list with my first complete WU: :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...iali/foldh.jpg
the one thing I am still worried about tho... how important is bandwith for multiple machines folding? my connection is really crappy (256k DSL). if its all about cpu then I will definetly get the router, but if internet speed is also important I may have some problems..
thanks for all the help
hoax
I was about point that out to you... but then got busy :DQuote:

I think I am going crazy. I thought I posted already but I don't see it.
@Rmc, has your performance settled okay? I hope your rig is right.
1692! Wow. :worship:
Btw, I'll appreciate the breather coming up :), although I do have another 1000+ coming overnight, so try not to slack off... ;)
@sc00p, are you aware of any graphs/stats on a user/team daily/weekly performance? For instance, graph of 24hr averages or 'total today' by user and team.
Hoax,
Your on the extreme stats list here:

Regards
John.
Nice work Sparky - hope its back on & folding like a good'un again ;) I've finally got round to re-boxing my DX rig thats been sat here doing nothing for too long - it's in a wee little case so I expect it to be hot but having a machine that can hack 4x fah clients is too good to leave unused :D It should be back on & folding with a Vengeance tonight.Quote:

btw, hoax bandwidth shouldn't really be a problem since the WU take less than a minute or two to download/upload on my 1mb dsl line here.
What is going on!
I ran prime95 for several hours no trouble, so I put fold3 back online. Ran all night, no problem. This morning it was still chugging away, good. I left and just got back and the system was frozen again  Looking at logfile the last checkpoint it did was at about 11AM today before it froze up.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? CPU primes fine, memtest turns up no errors.... I'm at my wits end with this thing.
@ sc00p: thanks for the warm welcome! hehe that supreme finnish defence looks deadly
@ pythagoras: thanks for the link
@ jimwah: guess my connection should work then, thanks for the info
@ sparkjjo: hope you can get that rig fixed soon!
thanks a lot everyone

Check your event logs for any clues. You might have some other background process, like a virus scan for instance, that's kicking in and causing the lockup.Quote:

@Rmc, ha hmm... 71 (pipped you by 8pts) :wasntme:
[edit: there won't be anything more for another 1-2days though :(, so I reckon you're pretty safe for the time being. ;)]
@hoax, there is also a config setting for 'large WU's' that you can enable/disable during configuration.
Launch console configuration via the 'Run' box with the -configonly option (ie., your F@Hpath\FAH504-Console.exe -configonly). Then answer the prompts (press Enter to accept the defaults which should be your existing settings shown in []) but set the 'accept large WU's >5MB ' (or something like that) option to 'No' to keep the physical size of the WU's down. I believe this option is intended for slower connections (although I think your 256k connection should be fine).
I am not sure what other impacts this has on the WU's you process though, as far as the points/bonus points and the like goes. A veteran here maybe able to provide more info on that one.
Nothing in the events, and there is no AV software or anything like that to start up. Just XP SP1 and F@H, that's it.
Well it froze again after restarting it. Something isn't right but I don't know what it would be. Going to have to keep troubleshooting I guess.
@ GAM: thanks a lot for the reply. I am gonna try to pick up the router tomorrow or tuesday and then we can find out how my connection will handle the large WUs, but from what you are saying I think it should be ok too.
cheers

Don't want to assume too much, nor do I think I can really help you as I'm sure you know as much or more about these things as me, but... any overclocking, installed any updates, new hardware, etc since it was last running problem free?Quote:

Well I turned it on again and left for the evening. This time I disabled the onboard sound and I just came back and it is still running. Don't know if that means anything but it sure would be nice if it was something to do with that. No need to have the sound chip enabled anyway on a dedicated folding machine.
We'll see what happens, hopefully in a day or two I can borrow a DMM to make sure voltages are stable.
*EDIT*
Currently 12:45 AM (yeah I'm a night owl :D) and fold3 has been running flawlessly for the past 6 hours :woot: But then, it ran fine all last night as well, so I'm still not sure about it.
Keep troubleshooting mate, you'll get there; are the sensors reading sensible values now, what model of board is it based on?
On the subject of BigWU option, I put four clients on the xeon last night - it only has 256mb in there at the moment  so I left 3xclients with the defaults options and they picked up project 18xx's, these look fairly small as they're 33% complete after ~12hrs.
The client with BigWU enabled tried 3 servers before it picked up one of those 24xx's, iirc these are the nasties at ~360pts, or are they the 600pts I forget?
@GAM - you do get a bit of historical data if you click on your username - btw you have a nice looking 'Upcoming Conquests' chart here :D But it only goes back to around the start of September, similar to EOC's.
I haven't studied the facts, but I feel the ~360's are the nasties. I've had heaps lately and they seem to take longer. :confused:Quote:

:hehe: sorry if I left anyone out, but there are people here that are currently beyond my scope ;) (...got my hand's full here as it is... Rmc... hoax... ;))
@Rmc, the graphs don't quite paint the picture that I'd like to see. ;) :wtf:
I just noticed the bugginess ;)Quote:

btw, my HTPC (D805) machine froze last night. Only one instance has been running, either a 2024 or 2198. Funny thing though, I can't restart the other instance either... Timeout.
Hmm OK I just tested the volts on the PSU. The 12V line is at 11.87V, the 5V line is at 5.2V, and the 3.3V line is at 3.43V. Not the greatest but not aweful either. Hmm.
