Hope to get mine tomorrow. With any luck I won't get an RMA. Sorry to hear about yours, Mr. Spork! :(

I asked SAE to make some pics as I don't have camera, but unluckily he can only get to make pics inside the case so the area I'm interested in is partially covered. If you are able to, you could try to take some hi res pics in the area between dimm slots and southbridge, just under the mosfets and towards the agp slot, hope to be clear :)Quote:

Ok,
Got 2 more Infinity boards in on Friday but had to work over the weekend so I didn't have a lot of time to prime test and so forth. I found that these boards are very different from the first one I got that was a week 24 NB and made in China and had a metal CPU latch. These both were week 45NB's and had the traditional N2 plastic brown CPU latches and were both "Made in Taiwan". The rails were better at 11.75v but not the full 12v I was looking for with my Fortron 400 but I got over it. Both the boards ran fine without any unusual hiccups. I got the TwinMOS to nearly 250FSB with very tight timings on the 4.3nm stuff at 11-3-2-2-2 Cas2 9-12-enable-enable-Fast at 3.1-3.2vdimm (249*10 3837ALU/3581FPU). Anything past 249FSB was shaky and would have to lower the timings to get a little past 250FSB. The TwinMOS PC3700 ram is not going to make it past 255-260FSB at all, to do this it will take different sticks to get there. Still working...
vector7
Edit: Oh I almost forgot, there is no need to do the L12 wire mod to these boards. Just drop any 133FSB CPU in and they will overclock past 240FSB depending on the ram without a problem.:)
iolao i can take pics of whatever you want. i still have my infinity and my new one arrives tomorow. name what you want pics of and ill get you pics from every angle in very high res.Quote:

all the chips! ;)
i might pick one up after the new year.
sure thing.
if anyone wants some specific pics of the board ill prvide. im gunna be takin pics in about 15minutes. hit me on AIM @ evilspork3 or PM me and i can send you the full size pics.
Here's a pic between the DIMM slots and the SB. It was 1600X1200 but the forum upload limit made it necessary for me to do some sizing/compressing:
BTW, mine came with the 4 mount holes around the CPU.
all of the new DFI do. lol:cool:Quote:

ill take some pics myself and post em.
i can get great macro's if you want. lemme know
Ahh, my bad.
heres a shot i took. more or less the same, might show soemthing differant.
again ill do some nice macros of a tiny area if anyone wants.
Those thingies beneath the dimm slots, are they mosfets too??Do they require cooling as well?Like the other six?How many are they total on the motherboard that need cooling (mosfets and little chips i mean).Anyone tried to cool the FSB PLL?
the left most mosfet in that pic needs cooling.. it gets really hot.
i put ram sinks on that and my cpu mosfets and both got hot. i also used 4 ramsinks for my SB and that got VERY hot. i had the board running for only about 20seconds but they were pretty hot.
Hey spock thnx for the reply...if i ain't asking much, could you post some pictures of your board with the chipsinks you use to cool it??
sure ill post tonight when i get my new board. my first one i tested the other day was DOA, had some weird problem with grounding or voltage. not sure. new one gets here today.
ill slap the sinks on it and take pics.
ill have two pics, one with sinks on what you need to cool and one with sinks on *EVERYTHING* lol.. i have 32 ramsinks to use so more or less everything is gettign sinked.
sorry for the off topic question: I just got my Infinity and can someone tell me what the beta bios date code and numbers show up during post? Is it just by date? Already beginning to like this mobo compared to my new nf7-s POS!
Thanks! :)
not sure but im pretty sure thats soem kind of date or version number for the bios. i only got mine to boot to that point twice so.. ya.
cool thanksQuote:

yeah I think the bios flash worked, seems like before with the original bios high fsb was impossible.
thsat seems to be a recurring theme. i talked with three infinity owners tonight and the two who tried with BH5 both hit 250 1:1, one hit 255.Quote:

the stock bios was only allowing about 220 then with a flash 250 came easy.
Very good to hear.
How's the progress on that pic of your board spork?
Also, who is working on a vcore mod for this board, because that seems to really be a must.
Agree, I setup my Infinity last night then flashed the 12-18 beta last night. Still working on it but at 245 11-2-2-2-9-12, Enabled, Enabled, Fast and Aggressive. BH-5@3.3, Vdd@1.7Quote:

Interesting how the new BIOS supports bigtoe's observation that the BIOS is the major roadblock to high performance and that they often appear to be purposely crippled.
and because of that comment..Quote:

Go buy your Abit and good luck with it :)
Oskar_wu has left us :(
no more new beta BIOS to try :(
how is that statement negative toward OSKAR_WU? and why wont he be here any longer? because from the statement, it seems as though fewture was defending him in a way...
::confused::
