OKAY, a bit of progress made in the last couple of days. Pics aren't the greatest, but gives an idea of what I've been up to.

1st ... a reminder pic. This is what I accomplished a couple of weeks ago ... all my sleeving nicely done:

After killing my 4870x2 and giving up on the DA750 PSU, I finally buckled down and started over.
In my last go, I wasn't happy with the "bunched up" look of the 24-pin sleeving:

So, I tried just using blue wire (similar to what SNiiPE_DoGG is doing, it turns out - but, I'm sure he'll be much more successful):

I couldn't control the wires, so I thought I'd try something else. I used extended heatshrink on the ends of each wire ... we'll see how it looks when put in place. (I cut the original PSU wires down and recrimped new pins on). Here's the 8-pin 12V connector:

(The twisties are just there now as "trainers," to get the wires to stay together)

I opened up the PSU - (Corsair HX620W). This allows me to place some heatshrink into the box. I would have put the individual cables all the way in, but not enough room in the cutout - always possible to expand it, but I'll save that for next time). I'll shrink the heatshrink once I'm satisfied with my cable snuggling. You can't see it, but I cut back the 4-pin cable and tucked it back into the PSU.

What else to do? How about some more BLUE - painted the top of the PSU. I'll leave the bottom black for now:

I liked how the half sleeving/half blue wire idea turned out....

Anymore blue and I'm gonna have to call this build "mama smurf" :up:

Can't wait to how you install that TyphoonIII ... working with the torture rack you have to get creative with the space to work with .....

WOOT Shazza got some more pics. I was beginning to wonder if you forgot about us ;) How the RMAs going?

I like that idea too. That was the only thing I don't like about the sleeving. It makes the wires stiffer. I think your idea is a great fix :up:

amazing work shazza. sleeving is sooo nicely done. I agree with millertime. What you are doing should allow for better flexibility of the wires :up:

I think I'm a Grandmama Smurf ;) I'm not sure how I'm going to install the Typhoon III, but I'll get it worked in some how, some way.

Thanks, mt. Successful RMAs on the Ultra PSU and the Rampage Extreme Board. Waiting to receive the new 4870x2 - takes a couple of weeks.

Please tell me I remembered to throw in the slightly longer 3.5 m mounting screws...?

When mounting the T3 in 1/4" acrylic you need them...if I forgot just let me know and I will send yo some as they are a pain to track down.

Actually got some work done yesterday ... finished the 24-pin sleeving. Now I have to cut the opening a bit bigger in the PSU (despite planning ahead so everything would fit :p:). I'm ready to go ... trying my first attempt ever with the dremel :shock: - but cannot proceed until I run down to the store and pick up some safety goggles. Pics this afternoon, presumably.

Shazza, I have an organization method for the 24-pin wires you will see in a few days when I finish making it, simple but very clean :) I like the partial sleeving, it holds together very well :up:

A tiny update here ... got my safety gear ready to go, and my hubby helped me set up the dremel (hey ... I said this was the FIRST time):

PSU looks beautiful!

Be thankful DB doesn't show you anything from his gross pictures collection. I have skipped many a meal after being blinded by the gross.

Nope - the Mr. is not bald, but he is a tad worried about the sleeving obsession.

@ Nils ... well, you know it is a PS (Polar Secret) etching technique required to get the bear on the hardhat ... :rofl:

@BoxGods ... after hanging out in various forums for 5+ years with DB, I'm afraid I've had my eyes burned more than once ;)

While the PSU looks decent, and the process has been a good learning experience, I'm afraid the final product will be a bit iffy. But, you don't learn if you don't try something different. Should have some pics of the PSU in place tomorrow.
