The W is a single socket series. The E is for dual cpu configuration and the L or X have lower TDP. There are some E's that are dual core instead of Quad. So i would go with W for desktop applications.

These were SKUed and labelled by me personally against official company policy. Enjoy!

Guaranteed AND in stock :)
Compumusic was great, fast shipping and well packed!
Thanks for heads up, resellerratings gives them good reviews. I ordered from them last night around this time, order says complete from them but shipping from UPS only says recieved billing information not actually recieved the product. So I suspect shipping will be slow but they seem reliable and the price is very nice for guaranteed d0. I asked for them to send me a B batch as well, we will see how that goes LOL not expecting anything but would be great. Anyways, If your patient @ 285 shipped this is the best deal for a guaranteed d0.
Is it me or does the 3520 run cooler than the 920 D0s.I am running SPI and LinX with everything @ default speeds(which I always do with a new chip or new memory) and it seems like I am getting atleast 10C difference between the 920DO and W3520 @default speeds on air with my TRUE copper(especially LinX).But then I don't know whether the mounting would have made any difference. I don't think any mounting difference would make a 10C delta. W3520 users please chime in.

It could be something as simple as a better mating surface for your heatsink.
Also remember that there are (sometimes wide) variations between chips from the same SKU or even the same batch.
No two pieces of silicon are made equal.
So, what is the real consensus here, is W3520 bettter or 920 D0 better?
I don't know of anyone getting a W3520 above 4.6Ghz. The lower multipliers/uncore settings are not available. I've tried for a few hours and I could not get above 222 BCLK on my Classified (Bios S60Z).
I run at 4.3Ghz 24/7 under Water and that is fine for folding etc. If you want to bench above 222BCLK you have to get a 920 D0. It really depends on what you want to do with your chip.
:D i wanna get D0 core i920 soon before i kill some one
That's probably the only thing that could explain this. My DO IHS might not be flat enough so that the HSF makes proper contact with it, whereas my W3250 might have a flatter IHS so that the HSF sits plush on it, hence the lower temps(I mean 55C max, eventhough @ default speeds and volatges in realtemp during a LinX run is pretty good).
Lapped chip this morning and cracked thermal paste syringe for last drop  Looking good in this quick test. I'll try for 4.5Ghz next. I got a XSPC 360 coming so my cooling is about to get whole lot better.

Can I get the link for the ebay guy with the D0s?
I believe this was his old auction on ebay:
eBay Link
Wow guys, I step away for just a day or two and I get buried! I updated the original post with the new stores and new NCIX links. :)
Mr ebay guy hasn't been selling D0's for quite awhile, he also took down his infomation page. That is why I haven't included a link to him.
Yes, I'm typing this on my brand new SLBEJ 3844a759 Batch Core i7 920, from Kaiduweb. They got shredded paper dust all over the place but it's nothing an air gun and vacuum can't fix. :p:
I think my stopwatch is broken... Windows 7 RC installed in a hair under 17 minutes, starting from the first mouse click until reaching an idle desktop. Good lord...
Just got a D0 from kaiduweb.com Batch #3844A759. Pack date 2/20/09.I hope its a decent one.I see a few with this batch doing Ok

MicroCenter Santa Clara received another 20 units of i7 920s bringing their total stock to 78. I just came back and to my dismay the newly arrived units were the old steppings.
Fry's in Campbell has the new stepping. Just called, the guy went to check and confirmed with me that it is SLBEJ. Sweet!! I'll confirm again once I get back with it.
Just came back and they had it in stock. :D On top of that, I price matched to MicroCenter making the total out to be $251.84 :ROTF:
