What bios are you running?
ACC enabled- All Core 0% here
3.5 here but rejected with Windows 7

1403! ACC auto, 1.5v wasnt enough, still testing! Cooling really helped this guy out! I was able to bench 3.525 @ 1.55v bios = 1.49 real on air, not sure where i max at with WC yet. 3480 @ 1.4v so far so good!
hondaguy after you said this, i tried validating with windows 7 and all is fine

anyone test out the new 1602 bios?
yea the 1602 bios looks ok to me so far...seems stable for the limited time ive goofed around with it...there is another thread dealing with the new bios that has a few posts from people using it....dosent look like alot of big fixes yet...
at least my computer loads windows unlike the 1402 version did for me...
I'll give it a shot after class. I'm still having stability problems with 2.75ghz NB clock. Stress testing is fine but after about a week I'll get a random BSOD even with no load :(
Flash 1602
load old settings
save and exit
asks me to enter bios and restore settings, everything went back to auto
repeat load + save
same thing
load "default" and continue
windows wont boot
Gotta love ASUS!
Bios 1602 seems nice. :)
Remake the settings instead... The Bios has been changed so load setting can many times make that the board dont post(the settings have been saved in another bios). This is not only on the Asus board its on many boards. ALWAYS remake all settings and resave if you dont want get instabilty.
Maybe this is not the trouble you got but you never know :)
I'm at BIOS 1402 (1403?) right now and I can get 3.24Ghz OC with all Voltage settings on Auto.
I put bios 1602 in and I think it sucks. I couldn't even get 3.0 Ghz stable with a lowered NB speed and a voltage bump CPU&NB.
It also kept saying unleashed mode failed. With ACC on and with it off.
I put on bios default before flashing. Am I doing something wrong? Does ACC need to be on to use unleashed mode?
On another note I was pleasantly surprised, nay overjoyed, to see this one my new build for my wife

Now I'm jealous as I want it in my ASUS
I dunno, i'm having good luck with 1602. Before with 1402 I was only able to get 3.5GHz with a 2.8GHz NB clock with 8gigs of ram. Now I got 3.6GHz with 2.8GHz NB and 8gigs of ram @ 1067MHz. Havent tried to see if i can push the cpu further or not.
Hi,
I was looking to get the Gigabyte UD4P board, or the UD4H, if I thought it was worth the extra
But, I think I may be able to get this board for a little over 100 pounds, and was wondering, how much better is it than the gigabyte boards?
Thanks
now this is a personal opinion, but i wouldnt take a gigbyte board if you gave me it, after 2years away from them, after a duff few boards i gave them another shot, when the 770/790 boards where released.
i went through 4 boards before giving up, again. after maybe 20 hours trying to sabilise the boards, at stock and just above stock levels, for me its allways a bios thing with giga, they just never sit right for me.
to be fair, apparently the giga boards ahve less vdroop / incorrect vcore than the asus boards, but latest bios releases seem to be fixing this, to a certain extent.
for me it was the asus, i now have 6 asus boards running here, all sweet as a nut
Hmmm
I thought that the Giga 790 boards had decent BIOSes.
I was looking, as from what I had heard, they were stable, and guaranteed to unlock the 4th vcore a my 720
Can the Asus?
Thanks
this board does not have two different onboard raid controllers for the sata ports does it? I ask because I have my x25m hdd plugged into port 1 and have ahci enabled for this hard drive, but today I just got a sata dvd burner and plugged it into sata slot 5 and it is able to write at full speed, but when it is reading from the disc it goes painfully slow. And I know that most sata dvd burns have problems when ahci is enabled.
Promised someone I'd take a look see at the most recent bios on this board........goes back on bench tommorow. Been rather busy sorry for the delay.
Any new bios coming out for this mobo??? Could use one for this 550 chip
Hello chew,
was just wondering if you ever got around to testing bios 1602 on this board yet.....no rush dude jusk asking...
Yah sorry man I got tied up and it never made it to bench, will get to it after this weekend.
How max stable NB clock in this board with auto voltage ?
What the best hsf for mobo m4a79 without touching northbridge heatsink & tall memory heatspreader in the yellow slot ? How bout colermaster hyper z600, anyone used that's in m4a79 ?
I'd say that any tower design cooler that got a mounting system that let you mount it in any direction is your best bet.
A TRUE will cover the two closest ram slots, that i can say for sure. Take a look at today's top rated sinks, and then take a look at their mounting system and see which one is the most flexible, in terms of mounting direction.
The NB sink should not interfere with any of today's well known coolers, the RAM is the the only problem afaik.
Regarding the CM Z600, too me it looks like a bad choice, as it will most likely interfere with the RAM no matter the direction you mount it.
