What happen to GTS sticks???
Shortage of chip supply for GTR/GTS, so we have to use what we get. If there will be GTS, we will have kits with GTS also.
Just finalizing our arrangement with CSX right now, I'll let you guys know as soon as we've got them inbound :) We'll be buying only the Diablo kits, unless you guys put in custom requests for other kits. Since we really only cater to you major nerds, no reason for us to carry the base memory :D
Considering that Kasparz put 6 kits up here and they were gone in 2 days, I think they will sell fine :D
I know I will go for 8Gbs when Windows 7 comes (I might even need couple more sticks for next year when I jump into tri-channel)
I was thinking the same thing regarding upgrading to tri-channel memory. Hopefully these CSX sticks will play nice in a tri-channel Nehalem platform. So far it would appear that the new i7 boards work best with the very low voltage dimms. Bottom line, it would be nice to be able to use the CSX sticks in the new boards.
For these kits standard voltage is 1.5Vdimm, so i don't see why should you worry about using these in Nehalem. 2GHz is maximum speed that is guaranteed and 2.1Vdimm is maximum Vdimm that is within warranty limit. Standard JEDEC settings are 1333MHz CL9 1.5Vdimm.
its an other question how x58 like or dislike micron d9 (gts/gtr/jnl/jnm) ic's
I have seen some boards that doesn't like D9JNL/JNM, but GTR/GTS should do fine. Afaik i haven't seen any problems with Microns on x58 even knowing the fact that bios is still at very early stage.
yes but don't forget you just put some dc kits together to test tri ch not especially tri ch tested with newer spd's ect. but my experience was the same, jnl/jnm's performance is really weak, but gtr/gts has no problems at low voltages (~1.60v) to reach around 1600mhz. but it seems for high clocks atm samsung is the way to go, sadly afaik there is no kits wich are using hcf0, only hch9 - but i don't know how those perform.
How can SPD that is programmed by JEDEC standard be newer or older?
I have ordered 12Gb matched sets from CSX & will use 8gb now & 12gb with X58.
Check out the testing done with these sticks on X58 http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...ghlight=diablo
This was done at 1.64, although higher voltage can be used & thus higher speeds.
Also take into account that there will be boards that will have an independent voltage for vDIMM like MSI & DFI, if early reports are true. This will enable users to use the same voltages as now.
Will you sell single sticks? Because I would like to go Tri-Channel soon.
Also, will the sticks need to have their SPD reprogrammed for Tri-Channel?
Omg Rodriguez you going to be owning the memory benchmarks so bad :ROTF:
What ICs did they tell you they were going to have? GTR most probably...
Whats so amazing about this Samsungs? Are they any better than GTR/GTS ICs? if so, is it a big difference?
I don't know if single Diablo sticks will be available.
SPD don't have to be reprogrammed, unless you want to use XMP on your X58.
slim142, have a look: http://odoc.dk/default.asp?Action=Details&Item=347
they work decent on a p6t, only tested with 1.64vdimm
we will test more when we get a new setup
and please note tri channel is tested with 1 gskill stick, bcoz we dident have 3 csx sticks
We're hoping to have these by late next week or so - will keep you guys updated.
They are GTR
mmm, there's actually nothing amazing about the Samsungs, I'm using 8Gb Viper until I received the new bacth of Diablos. These Samsung IC's cannot work at the aggressive D9 timings, but at the same time this is the first kit that has allowed me to use 8Gb at 2000 & at 1800, this kit doesn't react on higher voltage, they do just what they promise, they WORK at their rated timings. I could get this kit (only 4Gb) at 2100 with same voltage 2.0.
Well, in CPU-Z mines show XMP 1866Mhz ready. I dont think they need it again for X58 do they?
I answered you in that thread, hopefully you can get a pair of Diablo sticks to test Tri-Channel
Nice to hear
So thats why you were able to run at those speeds. I didnt know they had Samsungs until now.
So are you planning on giving one last try to those Diablo GTR sticks on the Striker II?
here's a little test with 4GB modules. unfortunately i deleted other results so i cannot publish more.
