yeah about 3k for the cpus. 300-400 for the memory, 400-500 for the mobo, 200-300 for a top end psu. all starts mounting up.

Carp . . .I bought two 2 gig sticks of supertalent fb dimms . . .they show as 768 meg each in bios . . .windows BSODs when I try to boot from hdd with windows previously on it (one XP drive and one Vista drive) and if I try to do new install it gets to please wait screen while loading windows install into memory . . .argggg.
A bios update got it all running. Only two of the four 8800 GTXs are showing. Temps are way high for the GPUS (63 c and 82 c). . .CPU in the 30s-40s. GPUs have a single Black Ice GTX 480, cpus and nb have two Black Ice GTX 240s . . .one before each proc in their loops. GPUS and CPU on separate loops. Will post pics tomorrorw.
I may need to add a second pump to the GPU loop to increase flow . . .Rad probably is not enough for all those GPUs either.
at last SLI on a Intel chipset :)
I do have SLI enabled . . .just not sure why two of the gpus are not showing.
You have NV100 bridges, quad SLI is not supported nor is 3-way SLI. You can run quad if you had a pair of GX2.
hey fugger, how are your quads working out for you??
Take a Shot of those CPU's and let us see them in focus !!!

mmmm that's perdy. Thanks for the pix :)
Mine should be completely finished in the next few days. Just waiting on 8gb of memory from Kingston.
Not really sure where the right place to ask this is, but...can anyone say if there are IPMI cards available for use with this motherboard?
Hello Guys,
I'm hearing that Skulltrail is actually not worth it and the performance isn't much a boost from a regular QX9650 or so. Is this true? How would it perform for gaming? I'm thinkin times 2 the performance.
the next version of directX may help developers with multi-threading games.
this board is alot faster then SM's 5000x chipset boards.
Holy thread resurection!:D
yea, it's faster..Only issue I see is that damned FSB limitation.
The ST boards max at app 425 while my SM X7DWA-N would do 454 before bluescreen and thats stock volts to the memory and the ST will allow you to up them..
Just that issue always bothered me.
well maybe they should disable the search function... joke... guess i missed the year..
it will run my 667 memory at 800 MHz...
1.84v just because i thought it would need a little extra. timings are 5-5-5-18, crucial.
i've got two seti crunchers on this board at 400MHz fsb, 1:1 mem/fsb ratio.
you will find my rigs here in the setiathome top hosts
I started DC with SETI back in 2002 or thereabouts and shifted to Folding@Home until they screwed the pooch and made SMP Folding a major PITA. I switched to CPU for WCG/BOINC and GPU Folding.
As much as I approve of making advances in radio telesopy and the search for intelligent life, for me, the only thing that makes sense enough to burn the kilowatts is science for life here on Earth.
My Skulltrail proved to be a real dud for benching and passable for gaming. When I got mine the D5400XS were just released to retail and the HD3870X2 was the best ATI card available so I got two and expected amazing results. Uh no.
I started with some okay CPUs that would not clock up much at all. I thought it was the CPUs but when I popped in some really nice CPUs I found the same 425FSB limit MM mentioned.
I thought it was the RAM even though I had some Transcend that others report running 860-920; nothing past about 410 was stable regardless of tweaks.
I got some better lower latency RAM. Same limitation.
Basically without the unlocked Multi of the QX9775 you will not see remarkable performance or benchmarks...the board will not run the bus. The board was buiilt to run the QX9775...anything else is going to be okay...not Xtreme.
Again I was excited about all those PCIe16X lanes...but I ended up being able to use only three...two for GFX and one for the Areca 1210. I was able to slip an X-fi card in one of the PCI slots...and I could probably slip a WiFi card in another but that would be it.
Maybe if I tore it down and used different cards in different slots I might get that 4th slot free.
I still love the board...it's definitely server quality. It's always running at 100% load...I mean always...since it was built. Currently 4.1ghz Crunching 8 wu for WCG
