Wolfdale: available now
* 2 cores. More than any games out there use.
* clocks higher on FSB, less problems with heat.
* just as cheap as current Core2Duo.
* No compatibility issues with current motherboards.
York: could be March, maybe even April.
*4 cores. Great if you're REALLY into video transcoding/editing and 3D rendering.
* Otherwise two extra cores are like bulky baggage that you're hauling around...
* lower FSB and thus lower single-threaded performance. (ie 95% of applications)
IMHO: If past is any idication, I have funny feeling folks are going to snap up several early "good" batches of E8300/E8400. They are so cheap, you can easily buy half a dozen, cherry pick the best, and sell the rest on ebay. And while quad cores are tickling 3.5Ghz territory, I wouldn't be surprised if aii cooled Wolfdales dont just reach 4ghz, but punch right through.
