zsamz, did you also install the Intel AHCI drivers immediately AFTER the gigabyte drivers, or BEFORE? what version of gigabyte drivers were they?
When installing the Gigabyte AHCI drivers, did you select
GIGABYTE GBB363 AHCI Controller (Windows 2K/XP/2003) ?

just picked up and installed a P35-DS3P along with my E6600 (L630f). i am yet to install windows because I need to setup my raid array and i have a few questions regarding the BIOS
if i change my BIOS, will my RAID array be deleted? or will it still be there with all the data?
also, what BIOS do you guys recommend? I remember, from the last time I checked this thread, that the F5 bios was highly recommended.

my reatail xp did not need the drivers but i still loaded all of em with f6
my tweaked xp did need them but would not load it
some xp cds wont let you load the drivers you better off making a custom cd and intergrating them into cd
your problem is a service pak2 thing i think"u gettin blue screen before install right?"
best thing is to make a tweeked cd from your retail cd with sp2 n updates n drivers in the cd
i got 2 retail xp but they sp1 so no problems
my retail xp with sp2 would not let me load drivers
it's winxp sp2. if i install just the gigabyte drives, i will get a BSOD before the setup page. installing the intel AHCI drivers work without errors. so i installed the gigabyte first, followed by the intel AHCI drivers, then later on it asks me to insert the gigabyte floppy followed by the intel floppy. it works now. thanks

Oh psh, don't go blaming Gigabyte for made up hocus-pocus just because your overclock doesn't work. :down: Overclocking is not a guarantee, it can depend on anything from choice of RAM chips, to a single BIOS setting set differently, to getting a good batch of any number of hardware components.
Have you proven the RAM clocks highly stabily using other motherboards? My own 965P-DS3 was incapable of running RAM above 1100MHz, but the P35-DQ6 I have has zero issue running the same kit over 1220MHz fully Memtest+ 1.7v stable at 2.4v.
I did not need to touch MCH voltages until around 500FSB or so as well. Same with the FSB or even PCIe voltage.
Hello, I'm a proud owner of P35-DQ6.
But I have a little cold boot problem here.
I OC my rig, and after I apply the new BIOS setting, the system does cold boot. This is normal, right?
But the problem is... I usually unplug the power cord of my system when I don't use it and just plug it again when I want to use it. With BIOS seeted OCed, , if I power on the system, it does cold boot every time, ON - Briefly OFF - And ON again. Is this normal?
FYI, if I don't unplug the power cord, the problem doesn't occur.
Or if I run the default BIOS seeting, the problem also doesn't occur.
I previously have P965-DS3P board, but this problem doesn't occur. Cold boot only occur once when I apply the new OC BIOS seeting. Not like this new board.
I have tried new F5g bios, but it doesn't help.
Please P35-DQ6 users, share information about this problem. Does every board of this kind do the same or just my board? I have to make sure if my motherboard isn't defect to decide whether I should RMA it to the distributor or not.

My DS3R also doesn't hold an OC setting after you pull the power cord and it also does the on-off-on thing. I have it saved into an OC profile so its a two-button process to re-apply my OC. I don't really mind it since I unplug my system maybe once every month or two. This board is amazing and every board has minor issues. So far, this is the only issue I have encountered, and if it remains the only issue, I am a happy customer.
@gaspimp: Thanks a lot for sharing pal. But your BIOS problem seems more complex than mine. My board does the cool boot, but the BIOS doesn't reset when I unplug the power cord. Its seeting is still the same.
Anyone else want to share?

Ah very interesting then. That cold boot behavior is very common on Asus boards (especially newer models). Having never owned an Intel chipset Gigabyte board before, I have no idea if it is common, but I'd assume it is here to stay. As for my issue, I think it may be because I am using an E2160. I have friends who have the same board but different CPUs and they don't have their OCs reset with loss of power. By the way, it isn't that my whole BIOS is reset, just my overclock settings.
Any news on F6 bios on p35-dq6?
First OC attemps on my new GA-P35-DS3R with an E6420 OC'd to 3ghz and voltage @ 1.35. Will be attempting to go higher today.
I was wondering if anyone has this same issue:) When I reboot my machine it isnt able to connect to the internet.. It's getting limited or no connectivity error.. I actually have to turn the psu off wait a min then boot. I have a DS3R with F3 bios.. I'll update to F4 today if it helps but I wanted to ask and see if this was an issue others had with this bois or whatever.. Thanks!
I haven't had any problems like that. The only problem I've had so far is crackling sound but driver 1.70 seems to have completely fixed that. So things are good for me.
What bios version are you using?

:confused: Incredibly nooby question, I have the F5F BIOS on my DS4, and I have absolutely no RAM timing options in the BIOS. Never used an intel board before :confused:
Edit: just checked and looks like something I did got the 1150s to 5-5-5-18 - used to be at 8-8-8-27 or something. Would still like to know if I can tweak it more manually though! Cheers
Hit Ctrl+F1 at the main BIOS screen
I'm using F4 on the DS3R and hitting Ctrl+F1 does nothing..
I have F4 on the DS3R and CTRL+F1 does indeed enable changing memory timings. You have to press it on the MAIN bios screen, not in the MIT menu. Press the combo once on the main bios screen and the screen should flicker, then when you go into the MIT menu, you'll see the timing adjustments available.
