What about apllying an extra stripe of thermal pad on top of it? I have some left from the Northbridge and Southbridge.

Basically it wont overclock at all (Specs in sig) Trying a minimal over clock of just 2.8ghz by using linked and unlinked and the system refuses to post giving long continuous beeps (Memory error) and hanging at post code 75. Well after searching for over two weeks to find a reasonably priced Striker Extreme I've bit and ordered up this board. I'm hoping it was the right decision to make.

What CPU temps are you getting with your water cooling???
My loop consist of an Apogee on the cpu, 2 X MCW60's on my 8800's, and an mcw30 on the NB, a Thermochill PA 120.3 in push/pull 79CFM fans at 40%, mcp355 pump with petra's top.
Load temps on dual prime @ 1.7 in the bios were 68C
Current clock @ 3.6 on 1.4V bios temps load @ 45C
PWM's loaded @ 3.6 are 75C average, gotta get something done about that
PWM's @ 1.7V were 120C @ 4 hours into the run
I used the antec spot fan over my swiftech ramsink/mc21 and it helped a lot. Temps before without it was around 55-61C @ 1.55v NB. And with the fan it went down to 34-38C.Quote:

Here's a question for the experts. So when keeping the stock FSB, but overclocking the RAM, 2.1v was good for me all the way to 457mhz!
Now, in synch mode, as I up my FSB, I'm finding the RAM needs more voltage (2.15v) at a measly 325mhz.
What's up with that?

PWM cooling is next.. I wanted to try and use the stock PWM cooler but it's not easy to take off the heatpipes.. I'd have to cut the lower one and try and spin the sink off the fins on the upper pipe.. I'd rather not do that.. anyways.. I have those same Swiftech sinks and was playing with them last night.. are you using the thermal tape which came with them to hold them on? One very nice feature of having the mountain mods U2 Ufo Horizon case, the motherboard is horizontal, so the thermal tape works fine for me. Makes it easy on the ram too just lay a 80mm on top.:DQuote:

I would get the best three weeks out of a motherboard I would ever have, then bam, they would go tits up on me. Took RAM with them once as well when it failed, burned out a dimm slot @ 2.1V, not even stressing it.
I have only had the ABIT 10 days or so, but I would still recommend this 680i board over the EVGA any day of the week.
The bios will improve, the changelog released on the ABIT forums for the next bios addresses many of the key problems people are having. So hopefully they can get it stable, and get the bios out soon.
So Abit is a good choice, better then EVGA aka Mem Killer :)

The recent BIOS of the EVGA is doing good job fixing some problems and they keep working on it that is in addition to a very helpful NIVIDA's forum not like Abit :woot:
I believe this deal at this price and at this early time would be a waste of money!
The Evega BIOSs are so much more mature at this time but for you to say that you RMAed 3 EVGA Mobos that sounds UNREAL :slapass:

So try reading a little, instead of making accusations about something you obviously know nothing about. I was a big fan of the EVGA, I worked hard in there forums to get people up and running on this board. Just check there forums and look for my post's over there.
OK, back on subject. Yes, I am very happy with my ABIT so far, but it has not hit the 3 week mark for me yet, until then, it is just another 680i chipset for me, however it does not squeel from the capacitors, so that in itself is a bonus.
