does this mean they are not Micron since it won't boot windows at 2.4v? i'm waiting for my RMA for my motherboard to test and time is running out for a refund.Quote:

I've been out for a couple days because of changing computer hardware around so image my suprise seeing newegg selling GSkill GKX kits for under $300! I must admit I saw that the prices started coming down about a week ago so I assumed that they replaced the IC's with something cheaper (Elpida, ProMOS, etc..) but after reading these last couple post it seems like their still definelty running D9's, D9GKX infact!
With that said I was seriously considering getting the Wintec AmpX DDR2-8000 kit since it's GKX but with GSkills prices coming down so much I wonder if I'd be better off with the 2GBHZ's (4-4-4-5) or the 2GBZX's (5-5-5-15)? My first thought would be to definelty go with the 3GBHZ's because of the much lower timings (seems like they must be binned higher) but I really don't know much about the 2GBZX's? Can anyone enlighten me a bit about these kits before I make a $300 dollar mistake!
Yes to both. ;)Quote:

In your case you will be running you E6600 @ 9 X 4xx with ram 1:1 with high end you will run Cas3 with regular DDR800 you will run cas4, if you gona take a look @ first post in that thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=128729
And follow the links (I prefer the Russian one got all figures in single page) the performance difference is always less than 2% + the 4GB got higher value,
Two questions from Where you bought it and whenQuote:

And thanks
No 1T with 4X1GB plus no one runs 1T these days with high ram speedQuote:

And sorry guys for the long post I hate it as much as every one
Heres another Wintec 2 gig kit pc2 6400 for $189 at Newegg.
Any one know what ICs its using?

isnt 2.4 pushing it a bit no matter what RAM you have? also, isnt it very unhealthy for RAM to be receiving this much juice?Quote:

from newegg, 2x 2 x 1GB kit pc6400 firestix
2.4v 4-3-3-8 boots windows, cas3 just a no go
tested kits individually for some 15 minutes @ memtest, seems stable
these are no better than the super talent 2x1GB, i got last year
now, they could be D9s but not the great D9s that others are running @ 2.0v
since im stuck @ 2.4v, these probably are stable on ~2.5v @ 3-3-3-8
Also could be your board... 975 is typically picky with ram.Quote:

I see you are running on 975x, so running high frequency is out of the question, but CL3 is easily doable with this ram anywhere from 400-450 @ CL3.
I have tried A LOT of ram this past couple months and I gotta say the ballistix is pretty dang good. It's comparable to many $500 ram such as geil, gskill, ocz etc.. and even surpass them. The other good thing about them is no second guessing, you WILL get some D9GMH, heatspreader is easy as pie to take off if you want to confirm as well; unlike some other ram. Just my .02c
Hutch - oh yeh, it could be..
syne_24 - im not in for high frequency hence 975x but more for lowest timings @400-450fsb.. hmm ballistix 8000? alright ill give those a whirl..
thanx!
the buffalo firestix are d9gmh and they are on sale right now for 199 at the egg!!! i just bought it (had to for this price). the performance is very good for 199 imo! customer support with buffalo is amazing too might i add

wtf, does newegg provide price adjustments? It's been less then 30 days. At that price I wouldn't care if they were D9gmh that's a steal!
I do have 5 pages of order history with them and am ordering some more stuff, maybe if I call it in and tell them they might throw me a carrot.
do the live chat thing. it's not in their policies to do price guarantees, but usually they'll help you out.
live chat. I've never used thos because nobody is ever on them on other sites, if there is someone there I just might. Thanks. I've ordered thousands from them they should! Haha, thanks again.
Well, I JUST purchased a set of the Buffalo Firestix memory....1GB x 2, the DDR2 800 stuff. Yes, they do indeed have Micron D9GMH chips. Yes, I'm not smiling that the price just dropped $40 from when I purchased it 48 hours ago....it arrived 45 minutes ago.
But, Newegg is giving me $40 off my next purchase to compensate, so it will work out. :)
I'm going to grab a 2gb ddr2 800 right now, hopefully it works fine with ds3!
Keep us posted kotoko, I take it your talking about the Firestix?
Yes, I was going to order from the official Buffalo website, but the Texas tax totaled to $205, and newegg was 194.98, so I guess newegg it is!
I'm just wondering why they dropped the price o.o And I hope DS3 likes these RAM.
Crucial Ballistix DDR800 D9GMH kit is $269.99 @ TigerDirect atm, and I think the Egg has it cheaper too - just received mine via international shipping today, w00t! And thanks for the ramlist xD
/Edit: That's BEFORE rebates $239.99 with rebates. Very pleased with their service - even better than NewEgg for me, as they ship outside the states. Given that last time I ordered from NewEgg while I was in the states, and it took a US bank account and debit card tied to my address, then between 5-7 working days for me to get my goods, getting my ram from TigerDirect 3working days (yes, three days flat, from tues-friday my time) with INTERNATIONAL shipping is a BIG thumbs up to them :) Plus I saved on what the equivalent D9 stuff here in NZ is worth ($652NZD for G.Skill BHZ - the only GUARANTEED D9 stuff ^^")
I liked my buffalo sticks a lot. But it's only been about three months and my ds3 nuked them at only 2.2v. Switched over to a p5b now and am going to rma ram.Quote:

BTW, ddr2 1000 buffalo firestix went back to $280.
ddr2 800 are still 185 tho ^^
Kemo6600 did you by chance ever find out if the gskill F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ were still using GKX..just ordered some frome newegg and was wondering.
thanks
Honestly I don’t know about the difference between those editionsQuote:

C'DaleRider, how did you test for D9? Just curious, did you open them up or test some other way? Thanks.
