On another note the P5WDH appears to only have 3 sata coming off the ICH7R (dunno where the 4th link goes maybe the external) and a second 3 coming off the secondary chip. That's not so much fun since the ICH7 performs far better - and I have 4 drives it just figures. Oh well probably throw one of the drives on the secondary and live with it, but I had expected there to be 4+4 or 4+3 secondary. sigh
Third note, there is a bios out for the P5WDH that goes to 500mhz fsb. It's been tested and hit 435 445 something like that.
:)
Ok, after looking at a large part of those mobos, it seems like they are all pretty expensive. Are there any Conroe mobos that are around $120 and support SLI?
Yes that is why I may opt for the P5B Dlx that uses the 965P/ICH8R chipsetQuote:

I have one 300gb HD drive and need 1 sata.who needs that much sata conection?4 Hd drives?Huhh, childish.
did you ever hear of a raid array?
Childish? How is that childish? Maybe someone else needs more storage then you  Ever hear of video editing, or extensive music/video collections  Don't be an assQuote:

Other thing is if someone have to many small hd drives with small storage space...but 40gb,80gb...that's history....
Because nobody uses those silly raptors.
I think most of us DO use silly Raptors

Dude, I know someone who does video editing, and he has six 500GB harddrives. Yes, 3TB. some people need more than others.
Also, once again, what Conroe mobos are priced in at about $130?
I'd guess the P5B and gigabyte's GA-P965-DS4 will be somewhere around that.Quote:

2x36 raid o for vista
2x36 raid 0 for xp
and then i would like at least 2 more off secondary chip, preferrbly 4 more, total 8, but hey, thats just me.
1 SATA optical drive
3 SATA raptors
1 SATA large hardrive for storage and ghost images
That's 5 even before I buy any more. So yes 4 is bare minimum, assuming I'd be willing to put one of the raptors to work elsewhere, which I wouldn't prefer, or use the secondary SATA chip, which we know won't perform as well as the ICHx.
I hope you were being sarcastic. If so, apologies.
Has anybody heard if Gigabyte is updating their GA-G1975X?
I doubt it because they have been flaunting their 965x boards, I feel like they'd be flaunting this as well.
And I remember reading that one big manufacturer wouldn't be updating their 975, so I am assuming that is Gigabyte.
I said it would happen:

NEEDS MOAR MATX boards, Bat Man!
975x for me (if one comes with ICH8 that'd be intriguing from the right vendor) and prolly either an Asus or DFI offering. A little birdie says a very desireable psu is coming in a month, so that'll fix that :)
Dunno if I'll buy new ram or use current, DDR2 533 3 2 2 8 timings. HS = dunno. Rest is gradually settling.
Going to be sad if Conroe availability is so bad I'm stuck till August or Sep waiting :(
LOL a Conroe compatible board equipped with AGP and DDR1, good for people moving from AMD rigs.Quote:

I'm wondering how many of the Conroe boards will support Kentsfield quad core when they come out. I've already heard the Intel D975XBX board will, also Coolaler had one running on an MSI? (can't find the thread at the moment). What about the others? Someone should start a sticky on Kentsfield support if it hasn't been done yet.
