How do you check max multi on these?
Does it matter where its assembled?
hmm let me know my vid, which one

(EIST/speedstep/C3/C6 must be disabled). ----> Done
LLC Auto = 1212 v
LLC Enable = 1.236 v

Can you use realtemp 3.67 and check the VID? You can toggle the button on the top right in real temp. Realtemp usually reports accurate VID as long as the CPU is idle and no power saving is enabled. Plus the clocks are there too.
The screen shot has me confused. One has your cpu running at 3.5 ghz while coretemp reports 3.4 ghz. If you're at 3.5 ghz, then the VID will be higher than at 3.4 ghz.
With a CPU as good as yours, your VID should be no higher than 1.24v, and probably lower. However I've seen some cpu's with a low default VID at 3.4 ghz and a high VID at 5 ghz, and some with high VID (1.24+ is considered high) at 3.4 ghz but ironically, lower VID at 5 ghz (like 1.36v VID).
as u wish
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/6624/idley.jpg
so vid 1.251---> BAD ones ?
Thanks, but can you do it at 3.4 ghz?
you're at 3.5 ghz. That's why your VID is so high.
Make sure you don't have turbo enabled in the BIOS, because it will boot you at +1 multiplier if all 4 cores are enabled.

What app to use to check for stock VID?
My Fatal1ty board gave the +1 working multiplier to the processor which was capable of 55 multi.
Maximus IV extreme + my 2600K = 5580max, 55 multi (SS)
Deluxe, Pro + my 2600K = 5560 max, 55 multi (SS)
MSI GD65 + my 2600K = ~~5300MHz max, 52 multi (SS)
Asrock Fatality + my 2600K= 5600MHz, 56 multi (Air cooled, Prolimatech Megahalems)
http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/2...litymax.th.jpg
Please don't look at the SPI run time etc. (I was just testing the 56 multi :))
Thanks OC:up:..I can build a small benching shack probly with all those 2600Ks:D
Interesting personal observation from all these 2600Ks are
Most of >54Xs s/n last two digits are in between 80~99
A few cpu came with a square heatsink imprint which indicated that Intel did randomly test its sb chip (and mostly is a dud)
finally dumo!
its not a 5770 but hey 5720 can do :p. same as mine.
how did your 5770 chip die?
Someone on OCN just got a X59 bootable chip (it can actaully prime at X54 with PLL overvolt DISABLED)...
My new 2600K L101B801

VID @ 3.4GHz = 1.2109v
2600K L045B387 VID@3.4GHz = 1.192 - Is it good? And any suggestions for vcore for 5GHz? And the other voltages as well...

AsRock Extreme4 Motherboard
Patriot Division 2 9-11-9-27 @1866 1.65v
O_O
That's the lowest VID I've seen (at stock)....
Yet my VID at 5 ghz is 1.3611...(in bios and RT).
Guess at one point RT is stop checking and saying 1.3611 for everything.
Able to boot @56multi with Ait cooling.
Soon will be watercooling thsi machine for quieter use. And will see what's going on.
Still hard to stable it @48Multi and above with air.
RAM is 2x4GB 1.65v so... yepp.
is it bad for the VTT to be 1.051 when the Dv is 1.65. diff >0.45
what anyone ever tried batch L102b281?
I'm glad I decided to try my luck again today at the local Microcenter. L046B028 2600K. 5ghz at 1.408V loaded. 56x multi. 51x multi without pll overvolt.
I dont get a very good OC on my 2500K. I havent done much tweeking but some quick and dirty OC'ing by just wratcheting up everything and setting it to even 45X or more and its not stable. Anyone got any ideas for me because I have followed the OC guides but I still havent seen a good stable OC over about 4.5 Ghz. Maybe its my WS revolution board. Iono.
2500K batch # 3101A127.
Letting Asus utility do a quick OC from the desktop it sets me up at 4.2Ghz and 1.195V. What does this info tell me exactly in terms of OC ability? Anything?
2x 2600K's incoming with in 48-72hrs.. will be paired with a UD4-B3, is 4.5Ghz a guaranteed minimum OC?
anyone know how to find MAX multi on 26K or 25K ?
Fastest way plz
With low air / stock cooler, disable PLL overvoltage, 1.45v , 2cores, HT off ( 2600k ) . Start with 50x, and walk your way down.
Your max multi will more likly be [multi without PLL ov ] + 5. So if you can do 50x without PLL ov you 55x will be your max multi.
I have a silverstone zues 750zf (3yrs old)and silverstone strider gold 80 750watts (brand new) on my end and will be initially testing the OCing on the strider 80, in this case would the PSU matter in overclocking or its not really a concern ?
Think I'm done with SB. Gonna go back to 1366 and wait for Ivy Bridge. No more binning SB CPUs.
Did you at least try swapping the board first?
Need little more tweaking to get those settings 32M stable.. after 16 rounds superpi gave error.. :(
And mobo wont take bus more than 104,8, cpu is also near it's limits with aircooling.. I will give it another try with m4e which should arrive at friday!

A Mhz wall is what any SB chip born with.
Once found, then we can try to find another wall for vantage cpu 4C/8t
I have the Deluxe and Maximus to swap CPUs around, all CPUs that came through me pretty much did the same. There is no reason to doubt two top end mobos anymore. Also, I've sold another MIVE to Dumo and he is doing great with his CPUs, which I wasn't able to when it was with me, so actually three high end mobos.
I've noticed/followed your posts in this thread over the last few months and you did seem to have some poor luck :( with your chip samples. What was the max multi on your best sample?
I binned a few SB my self... but not nearly as many as Dumo ;) and I had my share of average and below average chips along with a couple of decent ones when I finally decided to take a break from binning several weeks back.
I had originally wanted to find a strong low voltage 2600K... 48x stress stable with 1.3v or less and ideally 57x(+) multi but I never did find one.

Just received a 2600K 3103B323 from NE. Hopefully will get a chance to tester out tonight.
Wtb 2500k / 2600k 5.7+ 4c 4t / 4c 8t mp me ;)
I am not blessed by the hardware Gods either.
My 2600K needs 1,24 under load for 4300MHZ which is "OKAY" judging by your results but needs 1,33 for 4500 and 4700 is not stable at all with 1,376V which I consider barely within safe limits for everyday use
I simply never get nice OCers
My P4s were trash, one would not even run Prime reliably at stock, all my TBreds as well, my E8400 was okay but degraded even without Volts, my Q6600 probably was the worst OCer on earth and my Q9650 was at least not bad. Same goes for graphics cards :p:
The Barton I own which did nearly 3GHZ on air was not bought by myself so that does say a lot for future purchases :ROTF:

What kind of cooling are you using ?
And yet another very fine sample from this batch!
50x!! with 1.28v load!
52x!! with 1.352v load!
With proper cooling might do high multi like Matose's chip (same batch)...

L041C124 2500k is a batch only seen in Europe methinks...
Though I've seen L041C123 2500k here in the states I had a mediocre one.

yea but it's a Super Pi run not so interesting, and does not say much on whether it is a good CPU.
for me Prime must see to run at least 1,5h to grant around it is a good CPU.
Super Pi simply no optimization
http://www.abload.de/thumb/superpi5.5ghzquz1.jpg
These cpus Mhz. achieved mostly by the second or third boot with BCLK on easy tune and after 53X initial boot passed to windows.
The "major" chip imo. is the one that can passed 5799Mhz wall with all cores or even with 2 cores and it is still rare:)
Even after found it, most likely it will be good @ that Mhz for certain benching. Vantage and '11 will be benchable depend on how good the imc of cpu
What I can say is some batch of 2600K over all is better than the other.
Highest I have been able to do on water, dropped multi to 54x. A201 chip, costarica. Boot from bios, Will try et6 and see if it will do 5.7.
No loops. If it can finished both benches then most likely it will good to go @ that Mhz and settings.
Stability is not the goal, finished bench is.
Again, a "good" SB cpu is depend on how peeps look at it. A 5Ghz with 1.37Vcore on air cooling and passed prime 97 for 7 days non stop probly consider good, then there also a 2600K that can finished 3D '03 at 5.9Ghz 2 cores with 1.7Vcore on LN2 all day:)
One thing for sure that every single SB cpu have their maximum Mhz wall like a fingerprint
So what batches are better B or C at the moment? Planning on a trip to MC soon. ;)
I got two 'c' batch at frys a few months ago.
L040C106 it's ok, does 5.0 at 1.42 loaded. PLL overvolt off
I JUST put in a
L040B208 and it does 5.1 1.38 loaded PLL overvolt ON.
EDIT: Also tried a L039B214 and it was a dog. needed upwards of 1.5V for 5.0
All above 2600k's BTW
@noobzed
Looking good, hopefully I'll be able to pull those numbers in a few weeks!
Can anyone expound this idea further, since I will be getting 2x 2600K's and I need to know which one to keep in 2-3 days time only.
And whats the max voltages for VccSA/Vcore/VTT and vDIMM you guys can recommend for 24/7 usage under air cooling. Will be cooled by a Noctua D14.
From what I've been able to gather, Vcore = 1.400 , QPI/VTT = 1.1 , vDIMM 1.72 , VccSA = 0.971
3102C318 *A3160 5,5Ghz....so far
I just got my parts and both 2600K have the batch# L108A948 any input on this?
Installed one just now and realtemp 3.67 shows 1.2710 stock VID.. pretty high??
I'll try the other one tom..
EDIT:
Updated my bios to F4, bios VID shows 1.260.. windows realtemp 3.67 shows 1.250
