First official BIOS (F2) for B3 boards on it's way.
Has anybody tested F2? What's new about it?
I just hope they will bring the B3 revision upto speed... as i am really dissapointed after exchanging my "old" one with the B3. To be more precise, my old one could get me to 4.5Ghz on Auto, while B3 crashes instantly!
Anybody have feedback about bios P67aud7.F8f?? Thoughts, Ocing?? Multi issues, vcore??
yea i think 111 is the new WR

Very nice Stasio
Man my b3 board sucks for oc'in,(compared to my b2)switched out to the f2 bios its the same or worse.
boot loops drive me mad even at defaults WTF?
If you have a setting to turn off ht dont you think it should not take 3 boots to do it?
Dunno if I want to exchange my UD7 B2 to B3.
I can predict easily the oc specific behavior of my B2 by now:D
Ditto but my B3 will be here this week and now Im worried. I miss F7e already.
F8f is worse, much worse for me than F8X.......and yup....have to agree with you guys...now that I'm getting to know this board......will wait to exchange WHEN they finally are available in Europe...looks like the shops are getting some stock now.

Do we need to do a fresh install of windows when we swap to a B3 board?
I presume all the drivers are the same as it's the same chipset, so i guess i can just image my SSD before i send the mobo back for replacement?

@ andressergio
that is sick, that means it should be good for 54x with pll enabled.
that is better than every chip I have tested, congrats on finding a good one my friend:up:
@ andressergio, wow that chips a bit easier on the volts my friend  have fun
Much better chip than the first one, andre. Very nice.
thanks guys :up::up: such a great an easy chio to OC goes x52 so easy that i still cant believe it
i started primming and its holding my mem at 1,65v 2133 7-10-7-27 seems to have also great IMC

cheers all
Sergio
of courseee mate im primming now see i can lower more vcore also just needed to notch vdimm as bios F8F corrected overvolted mem so now as i have no middle value inbetween 1,66 and 1,68 i have to put this last and its going on perfect
here the proof...

That's awesome andre.
My chip primes at 5 ghz with 1.404v load, and I didnt test it for more than one loop (15 minutes) of blend because temps started approaching 85C on the next loop, so I ended the test right there. My chip is 10C hotter than yours (LOW vid, though. 1.360 VID at 5 ghz, and 1.21 vid at 3.4 ghz) I guess it's one of those "low vid high leakage" chips?
Bit confused though. Right after I flashed to F3C beta+clearing cmos, it reported 1.240 vid, but after setting my bios settings up, and same 3.4 ghz, and disabling spread spectrum, it reported 1.21.
This chip runs as hot as the other chip does at higher voltages, which is 1.390v VID @ 5 ghz and that needs 1.484v load for prime...(seems like small fft runs cooler, on the lower vid chip though?)
BTW press control F1 in bios to unhide a few options (spread spectrum should be something you always disable).
When are you going to exchange your board for a B3? B3 with latest beta bios should be a lot more stable for you...
Oh...never knew you were on water. Thought it was air.
Here was just a very quick bench of my chip (I did last week after receiving it).
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6100/30256256.png
After the first loop (each loop batch is 15 minutes) self test finished, temps jumped to 85C for the next set, so I had to stop the test there.
I just did another quick prime blend today at 4.5 ghz and 1.236v load (1.265v bios with llc1) and it didn't bsod, so it didn't degrade (or break in) yet. 1.250v bios drops to 1.224v load and will BSOD so I bumped it up last week, and still good.
What voltage do you need for 4.5 ghz load?
And what about the B3 issue? Are you happy with your B2?
thats great mate
im happy with my B2 for now its all runing like a charm tested my RAID0 connected to the ports that are to degrade and no changes at all
i never tried 4500 lol i just went to 4905 and 5005 lol
ahh i see you are on XP W7x64 SP1 take some volts more and also normal W7x64
what batch your chip ?
cheers mate
It's a 3101A209, Costa Rica.
Not many of the 3 chips floating around...
B3 boards have much better cold booting, and can keep the bios setting after unplugs from PSU.
UD5 people have to upgrade to B3 (unless a B3 crossflash somehow works in B2) because LLC isn't working right on B2 Ud5's...LLC1 overshoots, LLC2 overshoots so far the comp reboots.
UD7's LLC seemed ok on B2's.
some quick 3DMVANTAGE

UD7 B3 is worse than B2, for 5.0GHz HT 1.52v bios set (1.56v load) LLC2 still giving me BSOD 124.
lol Gigabyte still let the POWER button up side down like B2. So far I didn't see any good thing except for the B3 stepping chipset.
Check the 3dmark scores. Someone said that F7x bios let them overclock farther on B2, but when they went to F8f, they can't overclock as far (like you have seen), but they got a significant 3dmark 06/11 score boost. And someone said that F1 BIOS on B3 board is based on last beta bios for B2. Can't confirm that, though...
Sorry, I think I meant f7e.
I don't remember the bioses for UD7 since I have a UD5.
And I just had to fend off a clan of hackers in Crossfire, while this guy on my own team was talking trash to me. So I'm not exactly in a good mood. I was getting all the kills ....
Anyone on the B3 revision? Noticed that it needs a bit more bump on the vcore and the LLC's are behaving strangely.
Can you elaborate, by "strangely?"
On UD5 at least, LLC is mostly fixed on B3. Was completely broken on B2 (overshoots LLC1 or massive overshoots LLC2).
Nice CPU you found andressergio! Me jealous :D
From what I see, it now overshoots by alot on LLC2. Will do a few more test when I get the chance.Quote:

UD7 B3 bios F3C and stock F2.
ok I'm running LLC1 1.6v bios set, 1.56v load, still BSOD 124 lol. On LLC2 as told before 1.52v bios 1.56v load BSOD 124.
B2 could stable at 1.47v bios LLC2, load 1.5v F8X. VTT 0.9v. Did i make a wrong decision by swapping to B3?
on Maximus this chip needed 1.5v bios set, 1.54v load but passed.
This is complicated.
If your chip is like my chip, that had somewhat high vid and ran cool, then it may have "degraded"/break in period. C_N told me that both of his chips needed 0.05v to 0.07v to run stable over time. Now, if a BIOS switch also addded on to this, for example, if change BIOS (B2 version f7e to B2 version f8x or f8f) required 0.05v more vcore--but gave higher 3dmark scores, then you combine cpu breakin+bios...and you get the answer.
Can you go into your BIOS, press CONTROL F1 please, then disable spread spectrum, and see if that helps? (Spread spectrum was unhidden in original B2 bios of UD7 and UD5, then later hidden).
Cross flash wont work as the ID would be a mis-match, now some may get around that, but without BIOS modification users will be unable to cross flash.
I am having a weird issue. I could not use AHCI after flashing to f8f and had to use IDE. I had a crash that reverted the bios back to F4 and I can use AHCI no problem.
Just finished my B3 swap out. Went straight to F2 and not seeing much difference from my b2/f7e.
It still lets me auto to 4.6 @1.325. The low side 1.6 @ .972 is down from .994 on B/2.
I will push it tomorrow. give the IC Diamond a day to set.
My windows raid0 drives started right up and didn't bring a windows activation screen(i thought it would)
It did reinstall all of the sata and usb drivers when i started it up
You won't see a windows activation screen for three days.
If you go to the activation page, it may say that it needs activation.
Is CPU-Z reading your vcore properly?Quote:

Gave up on 2600K's...5 chips, best one will do 54X ....but no bclk. Bought this little guy for fun and he's alright!! Quirky board but getting used to it.
i used bckl at my same stable 5005 volts to get 5100 boot from bios

nice job guys, that is some excellent work!!!!!
Anyone else having trouble with f8f and AHCI? F4 works fine but with f8f and AHCI I cannot boot into windows. I can only use IDE when using f8f as my bios.
@ 5400 moving only bclk LLC1

Looking good there mate! Now I miss my B2....Quote:

I'm not having any problems, but I'm on a UD5 with latest beta bios.
I have no idea exactly what problems you guys are referring to..? You mean you lost overclock?
I cant do crap with mine,me needs a good 2500k
chip will do 54x np but here i push blk
cpu air/gpu air
http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/6...sli0640430.jpg
you guys think on dice i can get more multi or blk?
like how are these chips on sub zero cooling with this board?
I can do much better with these boards on phase Cowie (Multi sometimes, and Bclk for sure), so Dice may help you a little bit if that is the only sub-zero cooling you can use.
Today tested 2 new 2600Ks on B3.
Both are giving BSOD 124/101 even 1.52v bios LLC2 at 5.0GHz (1.56v load).
I think B3 is bad, not the CPUs.
BSOD how? Idle/low load?
Don't use LLC2.
