Since i;ve used the MSi .. and i know the kinda bugs its likely to put out ... BUT once this bugger gets up and running ... its a sweet board

U cant go wrong with this board + a 3000 NC Core :) ... My Advice.

For a motherboard I would go with a Abit KV8 Pro, make sure its revision 1.1 cause they have working locks. It a great board for overclocking with stock air you with safe voltage probaubly bring it to 2.4ghz. I have a 3000+ OC to 2.68Ghz and went from 23fps to 30fps in the game I play.

thanks for the advice...I checked out the Abit site they have a Abit Kv8 pro and Abit Kv8 pro 3rd Eye...I don't see much differents between the two boards exept the 3rd eye is 10 bucks more (canadian)...since you said I should get the the 1.1 version could the 3rd eye = 1.1 ver...or I should just go with the Abit Kv8 pro and make the guy at the store open the box so I can find out the ver...thanks =].

and to the MSI K8N Neo Platinum suggestion...this board is 50 bucks(canadian) more then the Abit Kv8 pro...is it worth paying that much for nf3 250 chipset over the K8T800 pro chipset???

I have seen a couple reviews with the 3rd Eye and the only difference is you get a couple more points benchmarks, yes they have AGP/PCI locks which would constitute them at being revision 1.1. If your going for records go with the 3rd Eye but if your just benchmarking for curiousity then just go with the regualr KV8 Pro, both boards overclock the same from what I read.

last thing I wanted to ask you about the K8V pro...is there any bios problems...and what version of bios should I have on it...also is there another version after rev 1.1?

cause I think I'm goin with the + 3000 nc cg core and the Abit K8V pro.

I have no bios problems with my rev. 1.1 KV8 Pro, other than bad temp readings. It shipped with the 1.5 bios and I'm still using it. Rev. 1.1 is still the latest. I love this board.

Just to post and let everyone know AMD released a DTR version of the 3700+. Ahhh the advantages of direct die cooling.

I was just about to go pick up my new AMD64 setup...but now I might have to wait till the price drops the only down side is...I'm gonna be stuck with a p II 233mhz...but I'll end up saving $20us...could start saving up on a better coolin solution =]...

I also read that they might be coming out with a amd64 3000+ 939 512k (1.8ghz) at the same price as the 3000+ 754...I hope it's soon cuase dual channel would be nice =]...and of course in that case I'm goin with the AV8 =P.

now i have a strange P4C800....max fsb in 5:4 290 max fsb whith every ram in 1:1 258! i used TCCD that do on chaintec of my friend 295 on my not over 258!....boh....

I was able to use clock gen to set the cpu to that speed, then when I tried dropping the speed back down it crashed when I pushed set. I was never able to take it that high agian, it would always instantly crash if I tried setting it that high. The CPU is a 4/20 3700+. It is doing 2.8GHz completly stable though.

A R404a system. I always give my A64s 1.7V as if it was the "stock" voltage.

you could give it a little more voltage on water but not much. it will just overheat and crash if you give it too much.

this chip need more juice than yours to attain the same speeds...
when i get home from work later ill take some screenshotz...

ime running 290htt @ 1.7v ddr @ 5/4
unfortunatly this ram A-data 4000 dosnet seem to run the 1/1 multy for :banana::banana::banana::banana:... gets buggy at anything over 240htt cas 3-4-4-8-10

where as in the Ai7 it wsas running 280fsb 1/1 2.5-4-4-7... looks like i need some new ram for this setup...

I've got a 3500+ (DH7-CG 130 nm newcastle) with 1 gb of corsair pc4000 xms v3.3 and an MSI K8N neo 2. Max stable is about 2.53ghz got to 2.6 at 1.7v but I don't really know if it's really stable.

Is 1.7v even safe (bios 1.55v +10%). I need 1.65v or a bit less to get is stable to 2.5ghz (10*250). The mem goes to 260 at least but doesn't do 1T at this speed.
Can anyone tell me if 1.7v is safe enough to run at costantly. Load temps are about 50C-53C (according to corecenter, Pc wizard 2004 and MBM tell me 48-50C. Idle is 37C at 1.65v and 2.5ghz. I'm using bios 1.3 now caus I don't want to do a manual flash. With my radeon 9800pro 128 mb at 440/365 mem at 3-4-4-10-1T and 250*10=2.5ghz i get 22372 3D01 marks. Sandra scores are mem int/buff'd (6824/6767) CPU arithmetic Dryst/whetst (11514:3955/5157)

yeah sorry... i should edit and say it's not tweaked at all...

i just popped it in... and pumped the voltage up to 1.65 and just ran it...

i got 33 seconds with my 3200+ @ 2.6 so i know that this is low.

Here is my latest overclock ! I running the memory a bit slow but the Cpu is at a nice clock with low temps. 36 seconds on a 3000+ is good right? btw this is aircooled on a Zalman Heatsink. any suggestions?

Here is mine,i will be getting my watercooling monday and will go for more.I love the MSI board,i read about how much trouble they were,but honestly i havent had any problems.I still have combinations i want to try but i like where its running at with 1t on the memory and 2.5 cas,but i will probably see what she will do after i get the water cooling system done,just waiting on the Fed X guy.lol.If i get her higher i will be back..

I looked everywhere for a revision # but couldnt find it. Here's a link 2 what i bought. Is it Bh-5?? Should i return it and get something else. I am pleased with the current performance but im wondering if i can get more. I see these other people with 800 dollar chips and they r only getting like 4-5 seconds difference in super pi than what i am getting with my 150 dollar chip so i am quite amazed.

This is my best OC on my winchester.

Cant get it stable though. It won't pass benchmarking. I got it on the highest vcore that my mobo will support. Anyone got any idea's how to make it more stable? I am running stock cooling, and surprisingly it stay's around 32C. Sorry for the small pic. It's 2.7ghz at 1.7Vcore. With 300htt

I got 2716Mhz from a 3800 @1.56 core and just about stable 4 hours constant benching) using waterchill cooling (not idea ram, board was older then MSI neo2 Plat. I hear its better now
65416 plus in AQ3 using a unlocked and clocked ATI X800 VIVO also on water chill 536/495 47Oc (water temps@ 45Oc)

I had to set the speed at 2.545 as its a on sale system just hunt the user name for specs and details

Dunno, don't like Prime95! ;) One time i tested it with 1,57V @ 2817MHz and
it gaves me an error after 30 min!
