Ok, clear, we have the latest possible soundmax drivers.
The Creative Software is the latest too? If not, then there maybe a later which would work with 6610 you found :)

Yes everything is latest, before i had Creative X-Fi Fatality Pro and i was collecting creative software from differenent places. And its not about that Creative software it self is incompatible, there is some incompatibility between 6610 drivers and Creative APO (Audio Processing Object) inside drivers them self, not inside software package. That APO dlls could be updates as well (i have newer versions), but it seems to be they are customized for soundmax specificaly and original creative dlls does not work with them. But its fine as it is "for now".
Many thanks for all your answers and feedback, i hope i am not very annoying towards you :) .
I am at work now, but will test the sound quality in a few hours.
Well some thing like Equalizer or Eax effects do not work.
I see in-game changes
I opened EAX and change profiles one by one.
I also enabled after this equalizer and played with preset profiles.
I had Windows Media Player running all the time with music in order to hear changes.
Nothing happened.
Played with SM and 3D sound ... nothing.
The only thing that works is the volume %, mute and changing of 2.0 to 5.1 and vice-versa.
So, i guess something is missed here.
Have not test EAX capabilities with a game yet.
Indeed that does suck, the main feature i wanted was eax. SoLoR would you be able to confirm this (any of this e.g. equalizer, crystallizer etc)
I hope we have confirmation by another user too.
One of you could try it, you can revert to soundmax with no problem.
Hm it seems spyrus have correct and functions are not working. Question is if EAX is properly working in game (i dont have any "real" EAX game atm)... Also thing is, im sure card is capable of EAX and those functions, issue might be, since licensing does not work "out of the box" that its something wrong with that... There are few encrypted files (inis) that i didnt figure out how to decrypt them yet and i know for sure they are responsible for licenses... Thing is, after quick check of specifications of 1989B chips and 1988B chip you see they almost identical, im sure card it self should be capable of those functions, question is if something more needs to be changed...
By the way, the 32-bit XP drivers + soundmax control panel were by far the best.
Never had Vista, so i am comparing only with Win7 x64, that i am currently use.
I think the creative software is your problem, since the driver package is ok.
Since there are equalizer functions in soundmax original software package for Win7 x64, at least equalizer should work also with creative.
I would start with this and then check EAX.
I have been running Win764 on my Rampage for about 3 months though haven't had an opportunity to try the new BIOS though running a X3370 @ 3.6Ghz 24/7 stable (crunching for WCG)
I have never been able to get the card that came with the board to recognize and just by passed it with an Audigy from my other system though I would like to able to actually use the sound card it came with.
About X-Fi software its like that... every HDAUDIO intergrated card suppose to be able to use X-Fi MB software, question is in licensing... ill install Win7 on other partition just to see if i can get 30days trial version runing (that you can eventialy buy license for). Im still certain that EAX not working in control panel is just matter of license not being properly installed. I think that those license .kga files are not enough, they should be also some registry changes i assume... maybe ill PM danielk (guy that suppose to disassembel every creative driver and made his own packs) later if he can help, but he kinda want to distance from this driver making for about a year and creative thretend him.
edit: it seems like once license file is missing for a start and this is probably why it doesnt work, license file is named: ctlt53hurx.kga
So, we expecting a new generator for license files? :)
Well i have no idea who made this license generator, i also sended mail to DanielK yesterday evening, if he knows why this does not work as it should, but he didnt reply yet.
OH MY GOD! exciting news people... i fixed it :) need to do few tests then ill post... it was drivers fault :)
Nice nice!
OK thing is, there seems to be some issues with those drivers... i wonder if they work properly with 1989B chip at all.... Anyway i updated pack here. Whats new is, drivers (i did minor modification on Software package as well, but they are so minor you dont need to download it). I took a bit older beta drivers and now everything is working perfectly (tested).
You dont need to reinstall package/licenses, what you should do to install new drivers is. Remove drivers in Add/Remove programs, reboot, wait that "default" drivers install, then go to System32/SYSWoW64 and remove MC* files that drivers left behind, there should be 4 or 5 files in system32 and 1 in syswow64, all have same date 17th september i think. Now install new drivers (1.SoundMAX.Integrated.Digital.HD.Audio.v6.10.02.6 590.X-Fi.CUSTOM.1) and reboot and everything should work now :)
edit: just remembered, reinstall (remove and then install) software package as well, because i rememeberd that in old version i forgot to change one HWID for 64bit windows.
@SoLoR
I tried it but I can't create the license files. :( It creates only 3 kga files in the same folder as the program.
What BIOS setting do I need? HD Audio or AC97?
Can I reboot the computer after installing the drivers and after installing the software?
how does create license files in same folder, if they should be copyed in to ProgramData/Creative/SoftwareLock and then erased -.- did you run .cmd as admin? i guess you started .exe and that made only DTS/DDL licenses that we dont really need yet (ill try to make eventualy DTS/DDL encoding work over spdif). If you want to create those licenses manualy and then copy then manualy you need to start that .exe with /all switch.
about bios settings, im using AC97 should work with both anyway... that setting is only compatibility of front panel. HDAudio means your frontpanel supports detection when you plug in something (it has some extra contact), since mine doesnt i set it to AC97.
And yes, you can safely install drivers, software and licenses without rebooting in between, just reboot at the end. Also when you uninstalling you can uninstall software and drivers and then reboot (i also usualy manualy clean up few files, but this was when i was experimenting).
start .bat, that folder gets created automaticaly inside .bat file.
other way is to do maualy
DDL_DTS_Activator.exe /all
then create that softwarelock directory and copy CTD1JXF23A.kga there (rest of license files is not important atm, but it also does not hurt to have them).
I've found the problem. I have to run it as admin but also in safe mode or Windows 7 Ultimate X64 doesn't allow to run the RUN.BAT. :D
You're a genius. :yepp:
I've done a quick test and the sound is great. The hell with the official ASUS SoundMAX Beta WHQL drivers.
Great! Thank You SoLoR, it's working now ;)
I was using Cyberlink PowerDVD for mp3 to hear Dolby ProLogic in 7.1 system, but now sound is more smooth at rear speakers :)
1. I just installed new driver, then restart
2. Install Creative Sonudblaster X-Fi Software, then restart
3. first I ran DDL_DTS_Activator.exe in my download folder, it created a few files, then I ran RUN. BAT, the files have been deleted, then restart.
my mobo is asus maximus formula, win 7 x64 7600
Good work SoLoR. So EAX and what not is all good??
