Just to let you guys know, I've got a significant quantity of Opty 170 CCB1E and CCBWE 0609FPAW's up for grabs. Let me know if anyone is interested... soon. I'll be placing an order mid-day (pst) on the 30th.

w00t just recieved my Opty 170 today from the egg. It's an CBBWE 0550 UPMW. I've heard good things about the 0550's can anyone give me a rough estimate of what my OC'ing potential might be? I'm using the stock heatsink right now, but with AS5 applied.

Aim for 2.6 at stock and maybe 2.8 with a bit vcore bump. Don't go crazy with bolts as that will surely end in a worse OC. With a lot of luck, 2.9 with 1.475v (guesstimate, I've not done my homework by calculating the thread median :) ).
With the stock cooler, I would try to get the most at stock or up to 1.375v but always try to stay behind 45c. If you get a BigTyphoon, then you can add more juice

UPMW's are hit or miss as there saying
some go 3g
some barely do 2.6
mines doing 2.9 with 1.41 right now
but cant get anything prime stable above 2650 with this volts
and heatoutput is too much to gi hiugher onthe volts..
If I had to getss Id say pray for 2.8ish
thats about their margin some 2.9 rare above 3g

How is the CCB1E 0609EPAW compared to the CCB1E 0609FPAW ?
They got the "E-version" in my local shop at the moment, should I get one?
I got 2 duds in a row. I've been burning the current one in for about a week with zero gain. It has actually lost stability. If the review for Conroe is good I'll probably sell this now while it's still worth something and wait it out. From a price chart I saw, a 1.86 GHz Conroe will cost about $200. My aim was to reach 2.6. I will be very happy then as it would mean a FX60 chip for a 3rd of the price.

Does someone know why CPUz and other similar apps always report the CPU running at stock regardless of what I have set it to in bios?
well, that is quite hard to guesstimate...but if we are comparing the CCB1E 0550VPMW with the CCB1E 0550UPMW the former do perform better.Quote:

The 12v might hold you back a TINY bit, but nowhere as much as the A8N-E... abysmal bioses on all the A8N series, I've tried em all... no inverse dividers (233 & 250 mem on 200FSB) without screwing with other clocks.Quote:

Which temp is the CPU temp no_nick? Also, what kind of custom settings are you using in p95 that required .12 more volts?

The A8N-E cannot handle an Opty. It will handle a x2 cpu fine, but Opties just draw too much power for it to handle.
