Hello SoLoR, maybe you have some time to do the same thing for XP SounMax drivers soon! BTW: brilliant!
LE: I have yours 0001SLIC ROM dated from 20/04/2010; now it's from 13/04/2010. Why older? Should I bother to update?

They are 2 0001 bioses here 0001SLIC is with ONLY asus slic added, 0001MOD is also with new intel and jmb option roms. That date is wrong btw... i think that 20th bios was just moded that day, acutual bios date is still 13th :) i think you had first moded bios that have still "old" jmb option rom,0001MOD have new one, however i would bother since its minor difference anyway.
About drivers for XP, hm main issue is, i know drivers for XP installs some "soundmax" software as well and i dont know if i can safely delete from moded drivers or not. I assume i can, but cant be sure really and i didnt have XP installed for few years... Maybe ill just create drivers in a day or two and someone can try them :)
Up to now i only installed 6600 driver.
What else should i do?
Where do i find the other software?
What to do with 2 files of MB.7z.001 & MB.7z.002?
They are not zip files are they?
Tried to install this but did not work:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/...pVistaWin7.zip
Use 7-zip to extract; it's a two-part archive (001 & 002)
Ok i think i have problem with step 3 - with licence
I can find this path in Win 7 x64 C:\ProgramData\Creative Labs\Licenses with one dat file.
Is this correct?
Should i run the 3 step inside a specific folder like windows \ system?
Did it had to turn off antivirus
Ye that might be an issue. Its Delphi only virus, so if you dont have delphi it doesnt infect anything and even if you have delphi it doesnt do any actual harm, just spreads around... i dont like it eather, but sadly i didnt find any other version of this program...
Yeah... Now I know why ASUS doesn't want to update the option Roms. With the updated option ROMs in the MOD BIOS it isn't possible anymore to run stable at 4.05GHz and DDR 1199MHz with tRD 6 and tREF 16120T with the same settings that I was using with the original BIOS.
The DRAM Clock Fine Delays are different. With the original BIOS they were 9-8-9-8 and with the MOD BIOS they are 10-8-10-8. That makes it unstable and fails LinX after a couple of passes.
I could get them back on 9-8-9-8 but only with lowering the NB Voltage from 1.27V in the BIOS to 1.25V in the BIOS. With a NB Voltage of 1.25V or 1.23V real it's to low to run stable and fails almost immediately.
If you don't have any luck with the original one, try the MOD BIOS with the updated option ROMs. The small difference could be enough to have something stable that wasn't stable with the original one. Something changes in the BIOS when you update the option ROMs and you can see that with the change of the DRAM Clock Fine Delays.
I'm going to run some tests later with the MOD BIOS to try to run it stable at 9 X 470MHz and DDR 1253MHz with tRD 6. Maybe it's going to work or maybe it isn't but I always had the feeling that I had to use more NB Voltage to try to run it stable at these speeds and that it also was the problem that made it unstable again. Maybe I need the DRAM Clock Fine Delays that come with the higher NB Voltage in the original one but I also need lower NB Voltage so the updated option ROMs could be the fix for the stability problems.
i made the same experience...
To get 4.04GHz stable again with the 0001.mod Bios i had to raise NB Voltage and VTT.
But on the other hand, i could improve my 4.2 Ghz setting to 1.37v vNB with only 1.20v VTT, tREF is 10400:

I had before Soundmax 6585 drivers and also openAL latest summer 2009 with no issues.
What we have now is a newer 6600 soundmax driver, soundblaster software from rampage extreme and a 'hack' in order to make our sound chipset AD1988B
to be recognized as Extreme's chipset AD2000B, right?
And i read from http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...Mih&templete=2
that now we have EAX 4.0 advanced and some other feature like creative's you mentioned.
How can this be possible since is another sound chipset?
And why we have updated soundmax drivers? In order to work with Creative Software?
Hi guys, does any of these soundcard mods work on the SupremeFX II 8-CH Audio in the Maximus Formula / Rampage formula or is it only for the Rampage II Extreme with SupremeFX X-Fi?
They work according to SoLoR and i will test them later today.
First if equalizer works and secondly if Creative Alchemy can up-mix stereo games to surround games (5.1, 4 channel etc)
Edit: i believe SoLaR but i like to look at this deeper :)
@SoLoR
Just to make sure are the x-fi drivers 64-bit??
@A-Grey
That's interesting that adding updated Rom's could cause that. Could you please investigate that further since it sounds a bit odd
thanks
No, openAL "wrapper" can be latest one (from nov 2009), but "driver" is from 2008. about the other thing, kinda frist of all officaly this Rampage II Extreme sound chip is 1989B (i dont know what they advertise it for). And what exactly is done is, i took those 6600 drivers and changed pids and registry settings to reflect 1988B. Then I took that software pack, updated it with all the latest creative components (because that pack have few outdated ones) and change PIDs to change 1989B chip to 1988B chip. This needs to be changed on about 4 places inside certian components cab files (cab needs to be unpacked, changed and repacked). Then its was only issue more with generating license files, im not sure why they are not generated automaticaly but oh well, since we can generate them with program i was using for DDL/DTS decoder until i had X-Fi i didnt bother much with it.
This mods are for 1988B chip, if you have mobo with 1988B audio chip and Win7/Vista this moded drivers will work for you. Also btw im quiet sure all newer onboard audio chips can run this software... like realtek/soundmax/sigmatel, because i know for a fact at least gigabyte was offering "trial" X-Fi software for some of their mobos with Realtek chips.
I did that and SoLoR made a BIOS with only the ASUS SLIC 2.1 added to find out if it would make changes in the BIOS. The BIOS with ASUS SLIC 2.1 is exactly like the original one so the option ROMs make the difference.
I'm not sure but maybe the updated option ROMs are for P45 chipset.
They are not WHQL because they are MODED and hashes does not match. As soon as you modify any file in drivers (and you need to modify them, if you want to run them on 1988B chip) hashes wont match and WHQL certificate is gone. And no before you ask, you cant not mod that as well, WHQL certificate is signed with MS cert and we dont have that. Newest driver i found was 6610 from intel, but for some reason it does not work with creative software. I checked everything, this is "it" for now :) well maybe ill try to fix this licensing crap, because licenses not being automaticaly generated bugs me, question is, if it bugs me enough to fix it since there is workaround :)
hm, more like P55+ :) thing is they should be more or less "generic", but yes its odd anyway... i first noticed this "random" fine delay on 0902 bios, but since it didnt effect my stability i didnt bother, but its also true im using moded bioses all the time...
