Every time I've bought cpus without knowing what the stepping is, I've gotten burned. Monarch and Newegg, 4 times in a row. We'll see how the multicore game plays out over the next couple years so maybe I'll try my luck with Intel.

Yep you look like a sharp guy too. :cool: I really hate to see the Opteron 144 CABNE 0530 go. That is one of the very first chips to start the craze. Still clocks better then alot of the 144's since.

My temps are 3gig in the screenshot aren't loaded temps. loaded is 39C with Aquaextreme MP-05 SP LE block, MD-20 pump, and heatercore. IHS is already gone, I popped it after I was able to work in windows at 3gig I knew it was a keeper. I also lapped the core a bit, but not long enough to get it where I wanted usually I spend 3 hours but only an hour on this one, but then I got caught up working on the 7900gt volt mod. I was going to do Mikes method for lapping, but don't know where to get the chemicals.

39x, ha, you should see when core center pumps our some stupid 9000mhz when I make transitions in crystalcpuid

Most if not all 0546xpmw on WC/good air will do 2.8GHz 100% torture stable @ 1.48 ~ 1.52Vcore

To get 2.8 fully stable with only 1.4Vcore would be exceptional, good luck :)

But most (mine included) will do 2.6GHz every torture stable x2 @ default Vcore (1.35V) :banana: :D

I run mine 24/7 @ 2.8GHz with 1.49Vcore shown in bios (eXpert) and 1.472V shown in CPU-Z

Came back to the computer today to find that core 1 failed after 7hrs 34mins and core 0 was still going strong at 13hrs+ Is this a sign of a weak core or am I just past my limits? I am going to run cpu burn-in overnight on core 1 to see if that helps. Currently I am at 295x10 1.57v

If its doin well for him (2.95+ @ 1.4v) I got dibs, it mine. I sent him a PM. Im holding a good phase chip here and could swap if his does better on air/water than this one.

Why thank you. :D And I love mine as well, hate to see it go, as mine is the actual Opteron that started the entire "OpterOWN" fad. Got it off baron from the [H]. Such a little piece of history, but man, I have to pay off my new toy.

As for where I got my 165, I got it from Monarch OEM with the $60 coupon from [H]ardForums. I had prime running overnight @ 2.75GHz stock voltage, so I'll post a screenshot once I wake up and go check (on my laptop atm) to make sure it's still goin.

Yes, it is POSSIBLE, but even with these 1337est steppings it isnt extremely common... do you have water?

I think the 0609's are slightly better than the 0608's, but my 0608 might just be held back by crappy IHS contact, since I havn't done anything with it yet. I mean on stock vcore @ 2.75GHz I'm loading anywhere from 40-42C, depending on ambient. Entirely too high for water.

Also, @ 2750MHz 1.35v, one of the cores died @ 7 hours 37 minutes. :( The other core was goin' fine @ 16 hours, so that's kind of irritating...I'm blaming heat. Re-Priming @ 2745MHz stock vcore, will post up the max stock vcore once I get a screenshot of dual prime. :)

I have a decent phase chip (WR in sig) with 11x multiplier, but I'm wanting a 24/7 system and phase is too loud/power hungry.

My old venice did 3GHz @ 1.65v stable on my water loop and I'm looking for something similar from a dual core (on water as well).

Wonder if anyone's willing to trade?

I hurt my fingers lots and lapped the venice IHS (to put on the opty) tonight. I will reattach it with the same black silicon that AMD use tomorrow.
