I tried to buy the ga-ep45t-ud3p p45 ddr3 mobo but it is discontinued! i heard that gigabyte will bring out new p45 ddr3 mobo in q2 2011
question: which is the best for OC the q9650? p45 under ddr2 or ddr3?

Well i jumped on the bandwagon and my batch is L037B486 with VID 1.30000.
I clocked it stable on 4050MHz, 60 degrees on load, cooling is a lapped TRUE 120.
Gonna go for 42xxish for 24/7 and than i'm a happy boy!!!
edit: nope, my ram is the limiting factor, on 460 it crashed and it isn't the power, i even tried 2.0Volt on my RAM and no difference. So now it is 4050MHz, well it does 57Gflops in IBT on 4050MHz, i see people with 4200MHz and they have 58Gflops.
I bought a second hand gigabyte ga-ep45t-ud3p p45 ddr3 mobo from ebay and it`s on it`s way to me! I will be using a pair of 2x2gb corsair xms3 dhx ddr3 1600 9-9-9-24 1.8v stock timings on the board. anyone knows if my ram will be good for overclocking with my q9650 on the ga-ep45t-ud3p? i did not opted for the ga-ep45-ud3p cause it is ddr2 and i have ddr3 ram atm. Is it true that the ga-ep45t-ud3p is picky on ddr3 ram?
Only way to find out is to try it out, is it a new Q9650 like mine, i bought mine couple of weeks ago, production date end 2010 with a high VID, i can't get mine over 4200MHz, i even bought new ram (dominator GT 2000MHz).
My proc needs in bios 1.49Volt but temps are not extreme, in IBT on 100% load it rises up to 67 degrees celsius.
my q9650 pack date is: 5/3/2010 with 1.2250 vid batch # L009B453 and bought it 9months ago
Yeah but i guess i'm done clocking on this one, 4200 is enough for gaming and ingame it gets 55-58 degrees max (temps are different cores) and i won't gain nothing much extra for going higher as in 4300 or 4400 for 24/7.
My next PC will get his ass kicked and will run like a b***h for 24/7, going for watercooling i guess.
socket 775..so dated....................i7 ftw.
Call of Duty: Black Ops GPU & CPU Performance In-depth
"Black Ops on the other hand saw a massive 78% increase in performance when clocking our Core i7 processor from 2.0GHz up to 4.0GHz, and we continued to see a performance increase right up to the maximum tested frequency. Both the minimum and average frame rates were affected, suggesting that users who are in need of better performance will want to overclock their processor for this game."

Thinking about selling mine. It's J0r3lbr's old chip.
Send it to me.
I'll take good care of him :yepp:
Hey guys, I could use some good old X48 advice. My CPU is a QX9770. I just installed 8GB of Corsair RAM (1600C8). My motherboard is the P5E3 Premium. As you may know, this board is quite picky with regard to settings. Currently the RAM is running at 1280MHz, however, it is rated to 1600MHz. FSB is 400 (default for this CPU) and CPU multiplier is 9.0 giving 3.6 GHz. I have been trying to increase the memory speed by upping the FSB. I have backed off on the CPU multiplier when the FSB has been increased. LinX is stable, and SuperPi is stable. However, at even FSB 420, I run into errors in Prime 95 at about 7-8 minutes. I have tried increasing the CPU voltage as well as the NB voltage to no avail. It continues to act exactly the same each time when the FSB is increased. What would you recommend that I change in order to get things more stable? It seems like it shouldn't be all that hard to overcome this, but I'm at a loss here. Thanks in advance.
While benching for the CountryCup 2012, I've managed to set a new record so it's time to bring up this old thread.

Damn nice work!
I miss my golden Q9650 :(
I'm back to testing my Q9650 while I'm moving to an Ivy Rig and it appears that the vcore selected in bios does not match the actual voltage supplied to the chip.
I'm monitoring power consumption through everest and now my computer shuts down at 235 Watts instead of its usual 210-215 W max in the past. Only reason I can think of is the mobo is no longer delivering as much voltage as shown in cpuz / selected in bios.

^that is an awesome chip Gaul, what kind of cooling?

You guy shave done a LOT with this chip since i last checked things out. I've been running at 4.05GHz on a COrsair hydro since I last touched my bios with i think was 2011!.
I decided my last effort was going to be trying to take advantage of the memory clock abilities now that memory nativley hits 2400. So I picked up some Viper pc3-19200 (pv38g240c1k) 2400MHz 11-13-13-31 but i'm having some trouble getting it to run at anything beyond the last clock I had my slower kensington hyperx running at. here's my config. Hoping someone might be able to help me get this figured out.
