and to add i need 1.335v to be stable under vista x64, XP only required 1.315 my default VID is 1.275..
Is it safe to run this chip at 1.415v ( idles about 1.395 or so )
Btw most of you guys are really getting super low temps, im getting like 62-65c on my 3.2Ghz at 1.248 loaded ( 1.335v bios ) im also using a lapped true 120ex w/ MX2 maybe its my mounting ?
The max safe vcore is 1.5v to 1.55v as long as ur temps stay safe.Quote:

TDP of an overclocked Q6600 with 1.40v or more is pretty damn high! My current draw in A on full load at only 3.36ghz with 1.38v is over 110A, 170W or so.
Xigmatek S1283... was $27 when I got it... best cooler for the money.

I just decided to actually push mine after running it at 3.2 stock volts for a year. 3.2g @1.225 vid, 3.6 @ 1.325V, this is with an OCZ vindicator........ last 5 of batch is 80047. Passed prime for an hour then i shut it off wasn't impressed with temps ( heatsink isn't that great ), passed 3dmark 06 and i reinstalled windows without a hitch at this speed today due to borking it attaining a stable speed yesterday.
I have a true coming this week and a spare small HD that i will use to find stable settings. we shall see how far she goes.
I have been running my Q6600 on a GA-P35-DS3P for about a year, with best stable clock at 3.7G, best FSB 463 and 24/7 at 450x8. I recently switched the mobo to a GA-EP45-UD3P and man, what a difference!
I have reached 4.05G and 500FSB just playing and currently running 24x7 at 463x8. I highly recommend these P45 Gigabytes.http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...x266stable.jpg

Q6600s draw a lot of current at even 3.4GHz and produce a lot of heat, if you don't want as much heat go to a 45Nm chip, they have lower TDPs.

Yep worked for me too, TRUE along with sanding down the cpu heatspreader to get a more consistent contact area! I get no more than 54-56c full load in prime95 on quite a warm day at 3.36ghz and 1.38v, 7x multi with 478MHz FSB 1148MHz DDR2, I'm extremely happy with that as it's a balance between High FSB and DDR2 freq and the CPUs performance across the board. High clock frequency alone isn't everything as alot of people seem to be in the mindstate of doing.
I'd rather have 4Ghz and 1066mhz mem compared to 3.6ghz and 1066mhz anyday......f**k volts :yepp:Quote:
