I'm also having the 1x PCIe link problem...
I've tried just abotu everything suggested here and it seems like the problem comes back as soon as I overclock.
Currently I'm running my e6300 at 525x7, NB/SB Voltages are both maxed otu for stability. I'm not sure about needing to max out the SB voltage yet, but it seemed to increase stability when I was testing at 530x7.
I bought an e6600 to replace this processor, but it turns out the e6600 doesn't clock for beans. This e6300 is pretty incredible.
I'm having a problem with my front USB ports using the 5/6 and 7/8 connectors on the P5B Deluxe wifi board. When I connect any USB device into the front USB ports, I get the error that Windows XP does not recognize the device. I know power is being delivered thru the port because the light on my USB jump drive is lit. I've disabled the USB wifi port (9/10). The case I'm using is Lian Li PC-60Bplus. It has a mic jack (works fine), headphone jack (works fine), 2 usb ports and the IEEE port(haven't used it). The back USB ports work fine and detect everything. I'm also using a logitech bluetooth keyboard and mouse that uses a bluetooth hub via the back USB port.
I've tried uninstalling all the devices under the USB controllers in safe mode and have Windows XP reinstall the drivers, but that didn't work. I even reformatted my drive and did a clean Windows XP install, but still get the problem. I did install the front USB ports incorrectly the first time, but will that render the connectors useless? Everything else on the board seems to work fine. I haven't overclocked the system either. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Anyone know of an e-tailer that is definitely selling c2 revs of this board?

I have installed the motherboard, processor, cooler, graphics card, power supply and power cables to 5 Sata drives. I plan on using raid 5 and at this point I wish to ask what is the sequence of connections to the mobo. I will be using windows XP Pro for my operating system. This is my first system and want to start with the initial/basic installation & configuration and than build my knowledge for oc'ing. I'm running into a strange issue with this board. It will not detect my IDE cd drives unless I open and close the tray before the board finishes POSTing. It also reboots while loading Windows. When I try to load Windows in safe mode, it hangs on something like "crcdrives.sys" and then reboots. When I try to reinstall Windows, it stops at 0% and freezes.
My SATA drives aren't even recognized when I put them into the Jmicron ports. Could the drive controllers have become damaged because of my high PCIe frequency (125 mhz)? Should I go ahead and RMA the board, or is there a fix for this?
Why Asus Probe only 60*C (and less than CT)??? I always thought that this values from AP are not so exact - and usually lower than a real temp - and that CT shows the real temperature. However I can be wrong...Quote:

I want to tell you a story about terrible death of my P5B Deluxe that could do 565MHz FSB...
So before the death I had a little blood on subj: When I benched - tosol from my chiller appeared on mobo`s PCB: under CPU socket and first ddr2 slot but when I clean it mobo worked for a mounth untill...
... (my e6400 worked on 3GHz on box prime stable) I got a BSOD entering some 3Dprogramm. I desided to set CPU to 2.8GHz - so I entered BIOS and set it. When I restarted it - I see in windows 2807 MHz (not 2800 as I want)... Then I saw a lot of errows in S&M. Restarted it one more time to set real 2.8GHz (-1MHz FSB) - But I got 2793MHz. Saved it. Restarted mobo and... ...no image on display. After some reloads I changed my x1950xt for some PCI Trident videocard. It helped. I saw restoring bios page. For a three days I tried to restore it from different 1`44Mb disks, Asus`s CD, different flash drives... But I didn`t help. Then I sent it to shop and they didn`t repeard it. Now I`m waiting for Commando :)

Well, I finally fixed my 1x link bug. I increased the PCIe clock to 105, and irregardless of what north bridge voltage I use, to 1x link.

So, a little background first:
I built a new rig a little less than a month ago, and I had some problems with it, including having to RMA my video card. After some help from some folks around here, I got it 24hrs Orthos stable @ 7*450.

With the way the 900's side fan mount is situated, combined with the size of the Tuniq, I couldn't get a stock Yate Loon 120 on there, so I cut part of the fan's housing away, and finally got it installed. I couldn't figure a decent way to measure it before cutting, so I was cutting a piece away, and then trying to fit the side panel back on. I didn't realize it until the 3rd or 4th time I did it, but when I was pushing the side panel into place, part of the fan was pushing on the top of the Tuniq, torquing it a bit to one side. Once I got the fan where I wanted it, and it wasn't applying any pressure to the cooler, I attempted to boot up.
Keep in mind, this machine was stable, and the only thing I changed was the side mounted fan.
When I booted up, the system got all the way to the end of the Windows XP startup screen, blanked out and rebooted. After trying safe mode and Last Known Good Config, I went into the bios and backed everything back down to stock, and tried again. Same problem. Okay, I figured I'd screwed up the contact between the heatsink and the cooler, or something, so I pulled the heatsink, cleaned it and the processor, reseated it, applied Arctic Silver 5 again, and started the process over.
The system said something about a new processor, so I hit F1 and told it to use stock settings. Rebooted, and it did the exact same thing. Alright, something's really wrong. I pulled my sound card and my wifi card out, and tried again. No dice. So, I grabbed a bootable WinXP install CD, tossed it in the drive, fixed my Boot settings and booted from the CD. XP Setup came up, and I decided I was gonna install Windows onto a different partition... but there was an issue.
My Raptor's partitions are broken up as follows:
- 20GB WinXP
- 25GB Vista
- 100GB Stuff
Windows Setup was only seeing the 20GB WinXP partition as a 15GB partition, and corrupted, at that. I know for a fact that the partition had about 5GB of data on it, so that helps account for the 15GB, but what the hell is going on there?
I tried to install XP onto my Vista partition, but setup told me it couldn't install with the WinXP(C) partition in the state it was in.
Summary
- Rig @ stock reboots right before Windows finishes starting up
- WinXP Setup thinks one of my partitions is all screwed up
I'm happy to provide answers to any questions that might help solve this problem. This is the first rig I've built in like 4 years, and the first time I've ever overclocked. I'm worried that I've screwed somethin' up. Is my Raptor suddenly bad? Is my processor fried? Or is it something simple that I'm just not seeing?
I'm double-posting this here and in a new thread in Intel Support. Thanks for any help, folks... I'm sorta freakin' out. :confused: :confused: :( :(
Can't you delete all the partitions and start over. Format that disk and load your OS.
Sure, I could do that... but there's absolutely no guarantee that that'll help anything, because I don't know what the cause of the problem is. That sounds like treating a symptom without knowing its cause... or am I off base?
Return to stock, install windows. Then try to get your overclock sorted.Quote:

While it might of read 2807 or 2793, setting exact speed isn't always the case and it can sometimes end up higher or lower depending on the sweet spot for the memory controller. Sucks it died thoughQuote:
