Finally had a moment to update the bios. Flashed to 16Beta and both NIC's are back. Weird  Thanks for the tip Ace.

Can I ask what's the difference between bios version 14 and the beta 16?
BTW why's no version 15?
I am thinking of trying beta 16 to see if it fixes this issue I have: When I run the multiplier of 8 and the computer goes to sleep, it doesn't wake up correctly...meaning the cpu/fan seem to come up and run but nothing displays on the screen and the keyboard doesn't work. This issue doesn't happen at any speed at multiplier of 9. I have Q6600 G0.
no stated changes for 16 but Abit was working on improving memory performance with 4Gigs of memory.
would you guys say the IP35 Pro would be a better choice over the new IX38 Quad GT?
I read the guide for the heat pipe mod. It says it raises temps so you need to add a fan. Whats the point of this mod?
Just wanted to say thanks Ace-a-Rue
Followed your guide for the bolt mod and it dropped my PWM temps 20 degrees when at load :D
One issue I keep having though is I have a western digital 500GB external hdd. Now if the hdd is idle for a bit the hdd sort of goes to sleep. Then if I try to access it or try to open my bookmarks in firefox for example I have to wait a few seconds for it to wake up. I can actually hear when it goes to sleep and when it wakes up. It even does it with a 160gb freecom external hdd, I was testing to see if it was a feature specific to the WD hdd, it wasn't.
It happens in both xp pro x86 and vista x64. On my old asus p5wd2-e premium this never happened. Is this normal or is something wrong?
Cheers
Billy
Have you disabled power saving for HDD's in Vista? I run 6x WD HDD's on this board, among them 2x500GB's, and I've had no problems with it.
My internal hdd's are fine, the issue only happens with external hdd's through both usb and firewire. I have the power saving disabled in vista, but the same thing happens in xp aswell which is why I thought it may be a mobo related issue.
there is a "power management" tab under each of the "USB Root Hub" driver entries in "System"...uncheck the power saving mode.
Well my HDD problems are back..
This time it started with the disk connected to sata-port 2. When I later unplugged it the disk in port 3 started giving me the same errors -_-
I'm thinking it's the mobo, it feels like I've tried everything now, formatting both drives, updating bios etc.
Guess the only thing left to do is to try the disks in a friends computer before returning the mobo.
Hah wow, this is awkward.. I changed both SATA-cables and been running HDTach tests like a madman for like an hour without any errors what so ever. O_O
