Switching ram has really helped with FSB speeds
I got new Corsair Dominator PC-10000 ram last week, and after some initial tweaking, I am running at 3257 MHz (465.4 MHz x 7 multiplier). As mentioed previously, I am a bit new to memory timing settings, so have posted my PC settings here in the hope someone can point out ways to improve things a bit.
Note: I am currently using the 333/800 strap in BIOS, so memory is currently running at 558.5 MHz with the following settings (as taken from MemSet 3.5 Beta and BIOS):
CAS# Latency (tCL)=5
RAS# to CAS# Read Delay=5
RAS# to CAS# Write delay=5
RAS# Precharge (tRP)= 5
Precharge Delay (tRAS)=18
All Precharge to Active=4
Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC)=63 (BIOS says 66)
Performance Level=7
Write to Precharge Delay=12
Write to Read Delay (tWTR)=10
Active to Active Delay (tRRD)=3
Read to Write Delay (tRDWR)=8
Read to Precharge Delay (tRTP)=3
All Precharge to Refresh Delay=4
Refresh Period (tREF)=3120T
Command Rate=2T
Enhance Data Transmitting, and Enhance Addressing are both at Fast
T2 Dispatch is Disabled
Channel 1/2/Common Clock Cross Settings are all More Aggressive
TRD Phase Adjust is enabled for all chs except Ch 2 Phase 1 Pull In (as show in Anandtech review), so Performance level is essentially at 6.
GTL is 114-115-117
vDIMM is 2.370
vCore is 1.4125
NB Core Voltage is 1.65
CPU VTT is 1.60
Vcore Droop Control is Disabled
Core Temp is showing maximum temperatures of 66 C, and all cores are within 4 C of each other, and Smart Guardian shows PWM temp of 51 C and Chipset temp of 43 C. I am using a 10" fan to blow cool air on case, otherwise the PWM and Chipset temps would be appx 10-12 C higher.
I had to go to side fan as the top of the case is cut, dual 12 cm fans and Swiftech MR220 radiator assembly has been trial fitted, and brackets for permanently mounting assembly are being made In the meantime, the dual 12 cm fans will no longer mount properly to the case top.
I am currently in my 4th hour of prime 95 on all cores with no errors, so things look good at this point (note that it was at this point where I added the side fan, so system so far has been stable without "help".
I will let it run until I have 8 hrs Prime 95 stable, and then I will post a screen shot.
I want to maximize FSB speed/memory timings so I am ready for when my new E8500 processor arrives. My question is what to tweak next?
Could I get people to post their OC settings/GTL settings
If I can get people to post their overclock settings and GTL settings, I will take the time to make a chart and post the results. I know that the GTL settings and voltages vary, and that there is no "one" magic setting, but I think it would be helpful for newcomers to see what other people are using.
If willing, please post your processor type, overclock achieved including multiplier and FSB, and GTL settings. As GTL is tied to voltages, please also note CPU VTT and NB core voltages.
Note: I would looking for STABLE settings, don't list what worked for only an hour or two.
Praz has suggested the following: If you are going to do this might also want to list BIOS version as VTT/GTL tables are slightly different between a couple of versions. Might also want to list stability something like this. Prime95,Blend/2hrs or Orthos, sFFT/4hrs.
Why don't we add Prime 95 Blend for 4 hours as a requirement using Prime 95.6, which was linked on last page. That way we will get settings that are at least close for others to try.
I will compile a list of results in 1 week to give everyone time to verify their results are stable.
