Eeek 40 micron rated vacuum pump for that price?! I will skip out :) I have been eyeing yellow jacket one for some time. It feels much heavier probably meaning less noisey. I am not sure if I like my robinair too much to be honest. I usually do last evac with a lab-grade maximus vacuum pump 2cfm (yes 2cfm) rated converted for HVAC use. Funny thing is, I consistantly get faster and better vacuum from this... 70-80lbs monster 1/3hp 2 stage vacuum pump than from 30-40lbs robinarie 2 stage 6cfm... (faster pull down, down to where I deem finally evac'd). It was "old clunker" I picked up from a buddy when I started and funny enough, it's still the best vac pump I've seen. I search on e-bay for decent one like that to be converted but even for old used equipment, price isn't cheap. (leybod is another term to search for this... you need to convert it to have MPT fitting etc quite often though).
This pump is about 2-3 times quieter than the robinair and just better since I don't have to carry it to somewhere.... (typically... that is).

Anyone have some pics of a fully set-up and loaded lian-li (mobo, HDs, phase in place, etc.)?

Muahahaha... I just realized... I am SUCH noob now that I've been out of overclocking scene for last 1 year (too busy building stuff).
Okay, got the windows installed with quad setup rjw have supplied me with (quad and mobo), and now I am not sure where to go... :)
#1. I am looking for some temp reader that can read temp from software to see how much differential will i get vs evap.
#2. I am looking for setFSB or some software that can overclock.
#3. I am looking for some general guideline on quick overclocking... not looking to break any record here just trying to genereate GOOD amount of heat to get some idea.

PS) evap sitting at -40c or so and not moving much with quad specific tune on nf10fx for rjw. Windows install I think I saw -39.8c... I've just shoved in 1.65v bios setting (reading 1.59 in bios) for time being just to get some idea which isn't helping much obviously... (yes one of sucky no load temp but tuned much much more for heavy load setting where first 150w isn't going to change much of temp).

I'm assuming rjw lent you one of his evga 680i boards...please do us a favor, and just use BIOS for overclocking. The quad cpu cannot do much FSB overclocking with the evga board, so most likely the best thing to do is just increase the multiplier in the system clocks section, and increase the vcore as needed (what you have already increased to should be enough for maybe 15 multi). Download orthos and set it up to stress all four cores. Rjw will have specifics on settings and how to get Orthos running for 4 cores. This should generate a very good amount of heat. :p:

Also, a program called Speedfan is the most accurate (for this board) that I've seen to read CPU temps in Windows.

The unit which held 230w just collapsed in record time when i pused dual orthos!!! 4ghz 1.65v. I am not sure how much more room do i have with this evap at this point to be honest... -_-; Time to retest.

With that cpu and mb, as stated, just use multiplier to oc the cpu

15x gets you 4Ghz

First step, is LEAVE vcore on auto, fsb on AUTO.

Boot into bios and let it sit there, to monitor temps.

If it can't pass that test, then regroup...

As also stated, use speedfan to monitor temps in windows.

Copy DUAL orthos into 2 different folders.
Rename the exe in 2nd folder to something like orthos2.exe

Start orthos from the first folder, then start from second folder.

open taskmanager and in processes, set affinity for SECOND orthos to cpu 2 and 3

First orthos will default to cpu's 0 and 1

start first orthos then second.

You should see that all 4 core are being used.

with vapichill (stock) at 4 Ghz, cpu temp in speedfan was around 3C to 9c with that setup, and held steady for 15 minutes.

DO NOT set vcore manually until it can pass that test.

Some quads go thru the roof when vcore is upped and others do not.

The quad you have is middle of the road. I had one that ran a lot hotter and aniother that runs cooler.

Also , make note of what speedan and the bios say that vcore is at (when in auto)..should be around 1.47 loaded

So if you can get that one into the negatives with vcore on auto, then next step is to up the fsb, just a little.

Not knowing your mem type, in fsb settings, change from auto to linked. set mem to auto or synch, which will lower mem speed as much as possible.

Then just up fsb from 1067 in steps of 5 or 10 Mhz. and retest.

Hopefully, you ill find a happy orthis home somewhere between 4 and 4.2 Ghz.

4.2 and up would not be for a 24/7 machine, but for benchers (like me)

btw , I have had that setup at 1.74 v (1.8 in bios)..not orthos stable, but ran plenty of benches at 4.25 Ghz.

4Ghz is a good target for a stable machine. anything over is pot luck. However, I would like to see a stbale temp at the higher speeds, even if it isn't -40c or anything like that.

I have run my vopos at -3c, and loaded at up to +7c on some of my cpus and had no problems benching, but I wouldn't call that a 24/7 setup, just a benching setup.

What does "collapsed" mean? Temps beyond what you like or temps high enough to seriously impact functionality of the phase system?

Unit could not handle the heatload, pressures go up (along with temp) and you scramble to shut off the computer before something gets damaged

They look pretty identical and I really didn't have time to update thanks to prepping up for CES... :P

One of few units getting shipped out... Long over due one too. I am quite happy with how this turned out. Thank you very much for all the support and patience this customer has shown me (and of course few others too :P)

Pic is Mach I repair/modification with chilly1 evap and vapochill mounting kit. As typical there is K-type if someone wants more appropirate temp reading. Funny enough, this mach's thermistor is actually quite decent though :)
