The memory will not have an issue of getting to 700, you probley can get it higher then that even without even touching the voltages or giving a slight .05V increase. The core ya it can reach that speed. You just got to play with the voltages a little and don't be afraid of upping the juice on the core just watch the tempatures. Its definatly possible even some are hitting 700/800 on stock cooler. I think he just got very very veeeeeeeery lucky ;)

NP :) Ahh ya leaving it on I guess would eliminate that cold start issue with the cards. I know after a while of leaving it running I can seem to test higher clocks with the same voltage that wouldn't work if I had the same setup when I did when powering my system up after work.

Okay, get this....I ordered 2 saphire cards. 1 from zzf, 1 from newegg.

zzf one arrives fine. the newegg one i thought came but in the box was 1 stick of Vdata pc133 ram!!!
This was suppose to be the box containing the x1800xl. Apparently Newegg crossed my order with someone else's now I have to wait another week to get this all cleaned up. They gave me an RMA for the ram and added a note that they are suppose to replace with the card. Sorry for OT but had to vent.
As far as people saying the saphire cards and the built by Ati cards clocking differently Neither card clocks better or worse. It's the luck of the draw. They are identical internally. That is like saying my RETAIL 3000+ venice overclocks better than OPB's OEM 3000+ just because it's retail. IT'S THE SAME THING!

I got 4 blue LED fans in my case then with this one fan its a red. Truely the light was so little it didn't seem to make much difference. I always thought the blue red combos looked great togeather.

Not at all but I can take a picture of it when I get home, I should be dark enough at least to get all the colors to show up brightly in the picture. The red led in the fan doesn't seem to make much light.

Yes please do that dnottis, I really want an XT BIOS to try on my XL. You can use ATI Tool. It has a one click button under | settings | Micellaneous to save in Windows. Very easy.

Ok boys, got my Retail boxed BBATI X1800XL today. Installed it as is stock to be sure it works as it should before I start mucking around with aftermarket cooling, overclocking etc. Card was very long and barely made it into my case the way it is setup but thank God it still made it in.

Yes my DFI boot logo is majorly screwed up as mentioned before. I am extremely glad this was brought up before cause if it wasn't I really would have been worrying that something was wrong with my card as the colours are truly distorted.

Another thing I noticed about this card is the way it handles resolution changes. On any old card I had, during post my secondary CRT monitor would constantly click while changing screens to adjust to the resolution. I am sure you guys know what I am talking about. Anyhow this card doesn't cause my screen to make this noise while changing resolutions during post. Strange but not complaining. I noticed the text on the post screen wasn't quite the same looking as it was on any other ATI card I had the past 2 years. The font seemed different and it didn't seem very sharp, kinda like running my old MX2 Geforce PCI based card. In Windows all is great looking however.

Now for the strange and perhaps worrying part. I properly unloaded my Omega based 5.10a drivers through add/remove programs, then removed all ATI entries through regedit, then erased the Omega Radeon Drivers folder from Program files and reboot into safe mode where I used Driver Cleaner Professional 1.2 build 27 to remove all ATI Entries. At this point I shut down the system, remove old card and installed new card as mentioned above. Powered system back up, thankful she posted and was back in windows where I reinstalled fresh the same Omega based 5.10a drivers I removed before. All was fine and dandy. I did a run of 01, followed by a run of 05, followed by a run of AQ3 and so far so good. After AQ3 I did a run of 03 and my system reboot itself! MY SYSTEM NEVER REBOOTS ITSELF. My overclock on the ram and cpu has been tested extremely thoroughly and nothing has changed in months on my setup except for this card. The system reboot itself right after the first plane game test finished and the second test was about to load. As soon as my system got back into windows I ran 03 again right away and it completed successfully with a score higher than that of my old X800XL. Right after that I played COD2 for about 15 mins then a few mins of Quake 4 to check quickly for visual anomolies and there was none. Of course nothing was wrong with the benches either besides that random reboot as soon as game test 1 finished in 03. After the run of 03 that successfully completed I had 01 looping continuously in the background with no splash screens for over 30 mins without issue before I stopped it myself.

I am wondering now, why did my system spontaneously reboot like that out of no where like it never has before and why have I not been able to duplicate the result? (not that I necessarily want to). Anyone have there system reboot while benching on their new X1800XL and if so where during what and with what drivers.

This worries me when I spend $600 (canadian) on a new card and my system does things it never did before. I hope nothing is wrong with the card. Again it is not overclocked at all and is running stock. The fan sped up to full speed a few times during the benches and I also have a 120mm panalfo fan on the side of my case blowing over the card.

I have a brand new Zalman FS-V7 here with some ceramique that I also ordered with the card but am going to wait until tomorrow before I mount it. I want to be sure this card is running as should stock first. If all goes well (no more reboots) then I will change the stock paste/cooling to the zalman and ceramique. I will then try the card again for the day to be sure it is still running as should as well as let the ceramique cure a bit before I overclock it. That endevour will start Friday if everything goes as planned.

So far I'm impressed by the performance but not greatly. I need a good stable overclock from this card before I really start to smile as running stock only got my bench scores slightly higher than my 9 month old X800XL which ran pretty good in its own right.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions about the reboot please do share so I don't worry here. I will keep you all posted tomorrow on how the new cooling mounting goes as well any overclock I get from it.

As well, I ran the single texture test of 05 and did not have popping pixels like mentioned above, nor was anything visible in the water of the last game test. We will see if it stays this way after mounting the new cooler as this is when they started happening for the user above. This card at stock does run quite warm as even with a fan blowing on it plus stock fan at full the side of the heatsink is quite warm. I removed the bracket from the PCI slot directly under the card to aid in some fresh air from the back being brought in.

cantankerous, thanks for the read. I did a clean install of windows followed by sp2 and nforce drivers and omega 5.10A and I got the OC tool from driver heaven. I didn't install the Control center when I unzipped the Omega drivers. was I? I was able to run 03 and 05 but AM3 would lock and get a black screen when the screen changes to show your score at the end. WTF? Any ideas? I ran AM3 3 times in a row and the same thing occurred each time.

Hi Trans am, I had this same issue on my X800XL with Aquamark 3. There is a patched DLL that allows the program to successfully complete on newer video cards since the program is out of date since the newer cards came out and is no longer being worked on. You can find the new DLL here.

simply unzip this into the root directory overwriting the other and you should be fine to complete the run from now on. Let us know how you make out.

As for my issue I have looped 01, 03 and 05 for at least 30 mins each and no more reboots. No clue what happened that one time but I wish it didn't as that is all that is on my mind now. I have a quality psu at 600w running nothing more than is in sig. Should be more than enough for this setup as some people are running SLI with dual GTX on 520w psus.

Tomorrow morning when I get in from work I will be mounting my new cooling to start getting down and dirty with this card that I hope does well.

Wondering, what are you guys getting as default stock voltage on your core when loading up the ATI overclocking utility? Mine is 1.10. I thought it was suppose to be lower than that but I could be wrong. You guys are the same right? And 1.95 for ram and I/O? Im sure people said it was 1.05/1.90/1.90. I may have a :banana::banana::banana::banana: card that needed more volts so they bumped this card up a bit to make it stable. IF that is the case would they really make cards tailored individually from others?
