I'm testing a new thing. I can run 1.225 volt now. But only with a core of 625-800. But the cards draws 40.x amps :D stock = 24.x :P almost 2x the normal ammount.
If i increes my clocks above 625 i get lockups in my stress testing program.
May me drivers issius of some kind ? or maybe because i use terrible high mem clocks ??
625/1500 1.225/1.9 just had 2 hours of running IL2/PF missions .. normaly that game finds overclock weekness, so very happy bunny here :D
I assume no-one else can use the old style CP with x1800 ? (and therfore omega drivers CP/Ati tray tool).
If I install it it comes up with an error on start-up.

Man I hope my X1800 can do what yours is. Is 625/700 comparable to a GTX? I'm sure it beats a GT. Either way it should be much faster than my X800XL which is playing Quake IV and fear now pretty good. COD2 on the other hand is pure chops.

Yes, im still running with a stock cooler. Waiting to see what comes out that support these babies. Im just not sure that the Zalman is that much better.
BTW my COD2 is running 100%, so no need worry.
Thank you kindly mr. Yellow! My cpu is only running at 2.48ghz as its a crappy winchester and that is about as high as it can go. If 625/700 beats a GTX in 05 what does a GTX score in 05?
Thanks for the Call of Duty tip too. My dad is playing it on his X850XTPE and it runs great but on my X800XL it's ok until I use the sniper scope. Everything gets very choppy and hard to aim that way. If my card could do 625/700 fully stable, lockup free and artifact free I will be one happy camper. If you are unsure about the Zalman I will let you know as I ordered the Fatality version along with the card for testing. I am sure it will net me cooler temps for sure.
Mr. Yellow did you need volts to be at 1.225/1.9 for 625/700 or did you need higher or lower amounts?
Damn I wish my card would hurry up and ship. NCIX is taking their sweet time and I am on the last part of processing before it ships. Going to be a long weekend anxiously awaiting this card. I hope the wait is worth it with a strong clocker.
A Stock 430/1200 GTX on my PC hits 77xx area in 05.
This card at stock hit 73xx ish @ 625/750 its 85xx area 512mb XT's are reported to be 9k stock ...

Only way to get much better is water or frozen.
Add to that nowere near the noise of the stock fan on full chat ....
Then there's the supplied ramsinks ... on the stock set-up I was artifacting @ 775 within a minute, with the zalman ramsinks and fan on (the fan area also cools the rest of the card not just the GPU) I was up t0 800 and only artifacted on the 5th run of nature on 03 at 1.95v.
If you want air cooling, I dont think you will be able to buy a better solution ... I have had Artic Coolers in the past and their is no competition IMO, Zalman wins hands down.
your saying your X1800 XL @ 625/750 hits just 73xx? I dont think you are since my XL @ 628/775 hits 88xx.Quote:

They are the same. only the fatality is red and has a led fan. The VF700 Is Kopper and has a normal fan. I don't know it the fatality version is made of copper. It could be a AL version.Quote:

u can both get them in an all-copper version. The fatality type looks red, has a LED-fan (although the normal zalman vf700-led has it too, 'doh'), and it's fan is running a bit faster so it performs better.Quote:

Anyhow .. I think there is no doubt ATi picked the best to hand to Sampsa et all at the convention.
We are seeing XL's clocking great, but XT's are a different matter ATM ... most people who have one are maxing out around 725/800 ... mine is topping out @ 725/790 (any higher core hardlocks in 3D, even with a bit of voltage increase), and 800 on the memory brings artifacts in 3D before it can complete an 05 run.(despite the memory supposedly being rated for 800).
Don't get me wrong, 725/790 aint bad, and at stock its a great card (once you remove that whiney cooling solution and stick a Zalman on), I am very happy with my new X1800XT 512mb, but the majority haven't got the overclocking potential we might be led to believe ;)

Isn't the x1800XT using 1.26ns memory? If so that is rated at 790MHz. Rated. Which means you haven't even began overclocking the memory yet! Have you tried playing with voltages?
My x1800XL has 1.4ns and I got it to 783MHz stock cooling 1.95v (defaults are 500 @ 1.90v)...

The card does run warm even under the Zalman. Mine can reach 61C on the high end with XT clocks yet not XT voltage, and thats with an extra 120mm fan blowing on it. So possibley tempature is holding you back from higher clocks.Quote:

Well, The thing is, I had an XL, and the memory on that is (IIRC)rated for 700, and I could get it to 775, increasing voltage to 1.95 meant I could get 800, but I did have some sparlklies.
Stock voltages here ... 1.325 still doesnt get me a 750 core and 2v mem isnt doing anything either ..
The XT ... even with 2v on the mem ... still major artifacts on the latter part of the last 3dM test .... I was thinking I might get at least 825 on the mem once it was out of that stock cooler and 2mm thick thermal pads ;)
Core still locks up in 3D after a few min @ anyhing much over 725, which is pretty good I think ... just the memory has dissapointed me.
I am aware Sampsa was running extreme cooling .. but only on the GPU .. the mem just had a fan blowing across it. (apart from a very cold thing close by lol).
mine can go 848 with stock voltage, but core has to be near 1.3v, but heat wont allow me to set core to 1.3v. So this Zalman cooler is better than stock one for shizzy? cause if i get it and it sucks ur all gonna have some splaynin to do.Quote:

I have had my dothan setup sitting here with x1800xt with containers mounted ready to bench for almost a week now. Can't do a thing with it. I am close to saying :banana::banana::banana::banana: it with this thing and get a 7800 512 card.
