Hell if I get a chip that doesnt atleast overclock 15% I send it back...
Example: 3200+ Newcastle that only did 2.1 Ghz.. pathetic chip...

I don't understand how the XT won't have leakage problems....are there two different R520s or something? Shouldn't all or none have leakage problems, like Prescotts?

Even if the Xl has leakage problems, it wont have the performance levels we saw in sasser's report (the false r520 review) cos its the XL, and 2nd only to the XT, so expect only a 5% diff between them for a $50 diffrerence in price.

I dunno, with some good bundle deals or some xtreme cooling/modding, it could do well :)

What worries me is that the X1800XL has 16 pipes and clocks ~500/~1000 ... which the previous X800XL did quite easily too...

concerning the leakage problem i think that it def is going to pose a problem and I don't get how people are thinking that they are going to clock like crazy...

I thought the Pro was better than the XL this time? 525/625 are its clocks, with 512MB....vs the 500/500/256MB of the XL.

As best I know we dont't have finalized clocks on any model from any concrete source. My best bet would be on the Anandtech info, but even the clocks they listed weren't finalized by ATi. Heck, even HKEPC, which actually had shots of the R520 core and card listed different clocks than anywhere else has posted up. It's not even worth speculating about core clocks until these cards are at least "launched", which will hopefully be soon.

Could this indicate Sander Sassen's numbers were valid afterall? And due to the very negative reaction, they had to up the freq even more?

No. Simple as that. 600Mhz was never a confirmed number. There are no confirmed clock speeds on the XT from anyone, and we've heard multiple times that the final XT colcks have not been decided as of yet. Some ppl are calling it at 600Mhz(Anand), some at 650(HKEPC), and everyone and their dog is claiming somewhere inbetween or even 650+.

ATi has been working on this core for years now. They know full well that any halo card that cannot beat the GTX will receive a huge negative reaction. There is no way ATi was "surprised" by a negative reaction to Sander's numbers and are now trying to fix it with only 3 weeks left.

I can put NO faith in a "review" when they don't even have access to a card to look at, let alone bench. At that point its not a review, its just rumors and poor journalism, if you can even call it that. IMO, there is most likely a good reason why ATi snubbed Sander, and this seems to be a perfect example of why. :nono:

With 7800gtx prices now all the way down to $453(albatron at newegg, not refurbished, but brand new), This card had better literally be a miracle, or ATi pretty much have shot themselves in the foot.
