Well I mounted the Mach last night and no leaks so far. But I dont think I have good contact! I did put the IHS back on with some AS5 on the core but my temps are only at -12c at idle and when I put some load on it jeez it jumps up to +38c unless MBM isnt reporting it right... I am also having some instability now at 2.9ghz at 1.6v when I used to be stable at 2.95ghz at 1.58v so something is wrong. I'll have to wait til later to mess with it but I do like seeing these -0 temps!

I was thinking of unplugging the heat pad on the back of the mounting bracket but am afraid of condensation.

assuming that picture is accurate to the minute, then you have no fans on your RAM or PWMIC.

Maybe that would help it?

Oh, and jumping to 38c means there must be something a bit up. I'd guess bad contact, possible the IHS is on badly?

I just installed my water, running prime at 2.5ghz 1.58v (where it wasn't stable before) hitting temps of 37c load, where my old xp used to hit 44c or so in this kind of weather. So it's looking good so far!

With bad contact, your mach unit's evap temp reading will show not much change between idle and load. How did you put HS back on? That could be causing your problem. You are supposed to clamp the chip when you put HS back on with glue, etc and let it sit for curing time (I suggest whole day) so contact from core to HS is good. Sounds like to me bad contact definitely or mach unit is VERY undercharged or have slow leak.

Well that fans are there I just had them to the side. My ram or PWMIC doesnt really get hot till I am testing. What I did was put some AS5 on the core (just a little dab) pout the IHS on and then took it off and it was getting perfect contact. Then put the IHS back on and took some more AS5 to the core and some crazy glue and put a dab on each corner. Then I held it together till it dried. So I know its not that. Unless MBM is reporting wrong. But when I go into the bios it says -14c- now it does seem to run cooler this morning than it did last night. Maybe AS5 has to settle? Dont know. Perc is going to give me some help later.

I dont think it has anything to do with the Mach cuz its running at -46c and when I am testing the Mach temps goto -39c.

hes got the mounting bracket on backwards i just looked at the pics he sent me... njkid 180 the mounting bracket the whole bracket not just the metal piece and you should be fine...

I just dropped by Fry's on the way from johnstone supply (HVAC shop :P) and picked one up of above stepping. Still in box, but one thing is for sure, last 3 digits of serial is 008 :) I've never had seen such low serial numbers... maybe it is from center of the fab which tends to be better quality (or close to it at least). Crossing my fingers. Think this is my 4th or 5th x2 already lol.

I am in arizona... Are you going to put it in and test it..

I got the mount fixed and its at -17c now. So there still may be a prob I just dont know. I know that I have good contact now and that everything is sealed up. I am wondering if I really need that heating pad that you have to put on the back of the mounting plate behind the cpu.

Sometime tonight, got this CPU for load testing on custom phase unit as my 4400+ is in RMA (dfi board killed it again... I love it) and the spare 3800+ is in my main rig. First going to do Zalman air testing and will be testing phase change testing to find out what is wrong with this single stage :P

Between and 1.648 and 1.69 made no difference in clockability, so thats where all my testing was done

Hurry up and vbreak it though, so I can justify buying a new mobo D:

Well just so you know its a Mach1 and I am having some temp issues still. I am running -14c idle and like +20c under load so I wont be doing much untill I figure this out. I think I have to pull my chip out and make sure I put the IHS on with good contact. I have a feeling thats the prob!

This time, clamp it with heatsink right after gluing it :) Let it settle for a while :)

You can always use winflash and just do it from windows.

Thx! It worked.

The system is now running with Optimized Defaults. If I try to up it to 10 x 260 it won't boot. Are there any special settings with this bios that I need to adress? Any guides?

I changed to the yellow ramslots as I read this is supposed to work best with my VX. Is this correct?
