lol this is the start of a PC gamers revolution!
PC Gamers who live close to the IW's HQ, should start protesting outside their gates.
I'm re-installing BF2. Eff it.
The more I read that statement the more I realise what an arrogant bunch IW are and how stupid they think we are.
As for the statement about IWNet it reads to me like:-
"We are going to wrap up all them things you can already get for free from elsewhere, charge more for it, throw in bad ping, minimise server size and still have the ability to charge you for DLC"
Where's BF3? It's been like forever since BF2 and Bad Company isn't much of a BF game IMO.
I believe this should be pinned for a while till things cool down or till we all get what we want.
How has IW not suffered a massive DOS attack yet, or are people saving that for the 11th
And Hard News picks up the story: http://www.screwattack.com/HardNews/101909 Good for a few laughs^^
Be assured that sooner or later there will be an installable emulation of IWNet service, just like Battle.Net and Oh-So-Many MMOs.
Even if IW doesn't release a dedicated server option, communities and/or clans will be able to make their own "private IWNET" in a matter of months.
Mr. X eh? I've used that name for about 5-6 years now for all the online multiplayer games I play
way off topic but oh well.
They are actually developing BF3 and BC2 at the same time, but BF3 is still a long way before we see anything concrete. BC2 will hold us out until BF3 is available :D I'm already eager to play BC2 with its destructible environments and its dedicated servers :D
IW really dropped the ball and instead of picking it up and saying:"Alright, we :banana::banana::banana:ed up", they are saying:"We know we screwed you, but that's the way it is, shove it"
Not going to happen.
The follow up post by 402 the community manager states that IWNet is the biggest investment ever made by IW. If they have invested that much it is because they believe they can recoup the money from elsewhere such as payable DLC.
I can't think of a mechanism how payable DLC and dedicated servers could coexist, can anyone else?
Nope, not gona happen, they are paving the way for monthly subscription online play, downloadable content, and steam. Soon they wont even be making boxed versions for the PC to save on costs with that. It will be 360/PS3 only get the box version, and PC will be the downloadable game like what steam offers. I knew this is was gona end up like this but i held out some hope.
yeah, it wouldnt surprise me if they make like 5 extra maps and charging us $10 (or more ?) for it .... as if $60 isnt enough
small vid i made

i messed up the end, its meant to say "this is the pc gamers revolution"
The mod tool is simply part of the fallout, I made 6 maps for CoD4 (hence my annoyance at the current state) and would happily not have for MW2 if the MP game was good.
You are right though, the best custom maps were far better than some of those released in the CoD4 map pack ie Killhouse.
sad day, i have played (along w/ many others) since IW got their start, you know. MAKING A PC GAME, with the first COD.
they just took a sh|t on the people who put them where they are today.
bravo IW. bravo.
