Yep but if you plan/think ahead MS has already made a statement that windows 7 will not support hybid crossfire/SLI due to instability. You do take a performance and temperature hit even if disabled. It could possibly cause issues going cold but apparently not in macci's test although IIRC he did not freeze the NB.Quote:

God knows I have seen this several times too. I don't know why some equate post count to intelligence/respect or to justify themselves as "not" being a fanboi just because what occured in the past. Overall, I could careless about how many times one may post, how long they have been at a forum, their title at a forum or what happened in the past at the forum. It's not always the length of time soundood, but the quality of the contribution. Few have equaled chew* in the amount of quality info they've posted, going above and beyond to find answers, testing lots of configurations (sometimes out of pocket) and generally trying to make sure EVERYONE got the most out of their hardware.
All I can claim is to have supplied WC a new material to work with, not that anyone wants to play with it. Some of these guys are well connected at AMD and other places, and use that to help us, and we run them off by ignoring them or abusing them.
If you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself.

I helped out alot with abit's AN8 line of boards, owned every single one and took the time to come up with settings that worked helped with bios mods and testing.
When ATI and AMD were merging behind closed doors I was testing and helping out with RX480 and RD580....Any of the important grouper or manta threads you will see i started or was a part of.........ATI was sending me reference boards for testing.
I set a WR with x2 3800 on manta while testing.
I can't even count how many hours/days/weeks I put into helping out.

Chew I'm with you, and btw thanks for that list of steppings and such for the 939 chips, I used it when I was looking for a good clocker for air and was able to pick one up that did really well :)
My old Asus A8R32-MVP deluxe is still my most favorite board I've ever had so far.
You know it's a statement when I track down a Grouper board with Corei7 just around the corner.
Anyone know where to find good 939s cheap? Found some RAM, just need a processor and I'm good to go.
Ebay perhaps or the FS section here or on Anandtech FS/FT perhaps. Finding good 939 chips for good prices is hard, people seem to hang on to their good 939 stuff pretty tightly.
I have quite a few 939 chips here still kayin ( contrary to popular belief apparently ) I'd be willing to get rid of my 3700+ sandiego, Not the greatest clocker but decent, ran hot so I popped the lid, repasted and sealed the lid back on. Obviously not a "cold" chip.

I may hunt across fleabay for a DC opty, but I have this sick and twisted idea of putting this as my main board in Mithril, putting the quad in my wife's rig since she spends 75% of her time encoding, and putting the E6600 in the Gigabyte when I get it back from RMA and using it as the media center.
I really think I'm gonna do it, but I probably won't just cause I should use that Q6600 for my rendering and clock that E6600 up some.

There hasn't been a must have board for me since the PURE innovation.
Boards are coming out :banana::banana::banana::banana:, frankly-all these cold boot at stock problems, etc-I have gotten 4 boards this year, and gotten 4 duds. One you have to hit reset to make it boot, one came missing parts, one fried from crappy cooling and when I put waterblocks on it it snapped chips like no tomorrow and the last one never finished POST.
Somebody better get on the ball is all I have to say.

BTW, I've used EVERYONE. I have an Intel, an MSI, a DFI, and a Gigabyte here right now. I have another Sapphire board on the way. I've got a stack of dead ASUS in my closet (I've never had good luck with them, always been poor performers), I ran a Biostar Tforce board for a good 7 months, it went flaky too, my XFX NF590 was one of the most solid boards but the top was the Shuttle AN35N Ultra. I'm trying to think if I've not run anybody's stuff, short of like J&W...
Hardware is faster, but twitchier. I can take a hit in rendering times if it boots. If it doesn't boot till the third or fourth time, I'm not sure I need to give it my time even if it is "faster".
