Very well executed system too. I do like the two loop color combo very much it gives a very friendly athmosphere with the white interior. That the copper of the GPU does not work so well with green is natural. A nickle version would have been fantastic in my personal opinion. :)
I really wish you would have taken care of the ribbon cable at the soundcard (?). White screws would have been nice as well, but silver still works out. Didn't you first go with a different approach to the sidepanel cuts - like horizontal? It would be interesting to see horizontal cutouts that match the case front. There is one sleeved cable that looks strange, what happened to it (the one cable next to the reservoires)?

yeah I had originally planned to use 2 nickel 4870 blocks, but that changed with the 4870x2. I did not want to use a nickel EK block, they are known to cause shorting of the card and I didn't want to have anything to do with it. On top of that, while this build is uncompromising in looks it is equally uncompromising in performance. Not only does it represent the highest aesthetic quality it also holds to the highest performance standards. The DD block is the best block around as far as I am concerned.Quote:

-Are you talking about the cable in the 24-pin stack? if so the reason goes like this: I was using my heat gun on high heat for the first few wires in that connector and unfortunately it began to melt the techflex sleeve outer layer right off, causing fray. I used glue-lined heatshrink so there was no way of removing it. the extra link of heatshrink on there is a cover for the frayed techflex.

It's a pretty rough paint job, but it gets the job done. I think that detailing would look so good. I think it would match amazingly with the white grill on the front of the case.

I have considered springing and getting the entire set of exterior panels powdercoated in some color... but I dont know what. Snipe, as far as the ribbon connector for the soundcard goes- I'd personally give it a shot either sleeving or making it (my personal opinion) black somehow?
it would be fairly easy to do with spray paint and all. The only thing is I looked at the case right before I packed it up and you can't even see the ribbon cable for the audio unless you stick your face right up underneath the video card.... even in the one shot that you can see it in all those photos it is steeped in shadow and its straight and orderly. If the ribbon cable was flourescent orange with leds and glitter on it I would agree a black finish is necessary but as it is I don't think it is warranted.
Maybe I will put a carefully trimmed piece of flat black electrical taped on it, but these photos would require a shop to change that feature (which is entirely possible) because these pictures are not being redone under any circumstances.
too both Nils and Dragoon, I greatly appreciate the suggestions and I am in no way angered by them, however, personally I would prefer to leave it the way it is for I see no reason to change it.

Well you guys just had to bust my balls about the ribbon cable :rolleyes: I unpacked the case and set up the studio again this morning because I couldn't sleep last night knowing that that cable was in the picture XD

i miss the sound card... as I'm sure you would if it wasn't in there. But D@MN does that make for a better picture, seeing all the green slots on the motherboard with the tubing, compliments each other very nicely. It really captures the entirety of the build in one shot. Clean, crisp and colorful (but not TOO colorful :up: )

Your post made me laugh. Given your level of perfection in the project, not surprising you wanted to redo the photo.
I'm with you though, the ribbon cable didn't bother me - especially since it gave you the performance with the soundcard.
Ian - great that you couldn't sleep, because you did not deserve to sleep with a ribbon-thing living in your system.

So now we are just left with the melted Techflex. :D You should have contacted murderMod / MDPC-X for better supplies (sorry for this huge commercial here - I am so bad). But because you chosed what you chosed - you got what you've got. :slapass:
Now there is just the question of aesthetics, that everyone might see different - I in example don't like the gpu-copper, the sidepanel cuts and the top of the case too much - but I am just one and others might love it - and you like it and designed it because of a dynamic look that you wanted to give to the system - so it makes sense and what makes sense is more than ok. :yepp:
I think you kicked the big-industry b00ty nicely with one of the first really appealing white interior systems - now that they jump on the interior black train ... and this has to be rewarded I think - We should let the industry always be a step behind. :surf:
A good design always works without the fact of what you've paid for it. What you have inside makes sense for the design and is not just a money-spending / sponsor show. Congratulations also to your father for doing excellent photography - I think he is not without reason 30 years in business.
