Update: Tankguys will be shipping ALL preorders for Q6600 'G0' this week.
my clubit preorder has shipped
Ordered Friday, shipped Saturday. Have tracking number.
LOL..... OKOK.... For those of us who went with tankguys. :) At the time they were the only place guaranteeing G0's.
Clubit is sold out of G0 Steppings....
back in stock at clubit
NCIXUS still has B3s. Despite shipping instructions to cancel if only B3s were available, they shipped. They don't read order instructions. It's pot luck unless it'sTankguys or ClubIT apparently.
It Is Pretty Stupid To Me, I Really Think That Intel Is Not Making A Lot Of G0's Right Now, Called My Local Frys Store They Have Been Selling Quads Like Hotcakes And The Guy Told Me That They Have HAD Two Shipments In The Last Two Weeks, And No G0's, Unless They Are All Mixed Up In There. But He Said He Hasnt Seen Any.
My guess is that exclusively G0s have been being made
for some time, but that existing B3 inventory levels just
take a while to deplete.
Frys, for instance only recently lowered the price on the
Q6600 to "post-markdown" levels. There was at least
a couple of weeks when several other vendors had
prices that were over $100 lower than the unchanged
Fry's price.
Last time I looked CompUsa still listed $568 or so for the
Q6600. Similarly as of a couple of days ago when I looked,
Tiger Direct still charges $500+ for retail box Q6600s,
though they had lowered the price on OEM units a
week or two ago. Newegg had a price of over $50 higher
than many other vendors for a couple of weeks, and still
doesn't rank near the lowest.
Since places like Mwave, Clubit, et. al. have been selling
the Q6600 for $280 - $335 or so since around
22 July, one must conclude that the places that have
not had competitive prices haven't been selling any
or many of their existing B3 inventories at the inflated
prices. Therefore when places like Frys, CompUsa,
Newegg, TigerDirect, CDW, et. al. DO finally lower their
prices they probably have dozens or hundreds of
B3 steppings in stock even though the G0 may have
been out for months.
I'm sure the same applies to higher level resellers, etc.
Also the places that do guarantee G0 will tend to sell the
G0s somewhat more frequently and so if they have any
left over inventory it'll be more likely old B3 than G0.
If you read what places like TankGuys posts as well
as what ClubIt said, you'll find that they have
apparently been explicitly working with their suppliers
to get them large numbers of guaranteed G0s. To
the extent that their suppliers are able to give MORE
G0s to clients that care about ordering them specifically,
they'll tend to channel their G0 inventory preferentially
to the clients that seem to want it. Whereas places like
Frys, Mwave, CDW, etc. whose official policy is
"It's a Q6600, we don't care what stepping it is,
we won't tell you what stepping it is, it's all the same to
us." will order from the same big distributors and of
course since they don't CARE if they get B3 vs. G0,
they'll probably MORE LIKELY get sent 100% B3s
because the G0s the distributors get in are being
cherry picked and fought over by other
(better/smarter) retailers like ClubIT/Tankguys/etc.
And to the extent that there is a slight overall
grass roots preference for G0 than B3, I'd guess that
places that notice that will probably try to sort out and
dump their B3s while they can since if word about G0's
being better was more well known, they'd probably
have a harder time selling their old B3 Q6600's a
month from now if they couldn't provide / guarantee G0.
The frys in las vegas should have G0 by the 14th or so, i talked to the guy who works in the cage, we play wow together.
if your in the area maybe check em out, sadly i dont work at the place anymore, so i cant just go cherry pick
btw club it is sold out..just checked..
just ordered one from tankguys...
I hope you paid in full for it. If someone pre-ordered and did not make the full payment they get skipped. Hopefully you will get their place in line. :)
I just checked my order. I'm seeing a tracking number for shipment but it's not showing up @ fedex yet. This is a good sign though.
^^^
yep paid in full with 2 day shipping as well, my order says it will ship this week...or is that what all the orders say? this is my first time dealing with TG, but i know they have a good reputation.
yeah man, you have a tracking number...thats a great sign!
We started pre-processing shipments last night, which is why some people have tracking #'s in the order history. Actual shipping will start tomorrow, as the first batch of chips just arrived a couple hours ago.
We're just about finished securing 500 more, which would arrive tomorrow or Thursday - which means all remaining orders *should* ship out by Friday. This is, of course, if all goes to plan ;)
Cool!:)
anyone get their clubit g0 yet? if so, what batch is it?
i will probably order one from tankguys, it really sucks though i was building a computer for someone and i got a quad b3 from mwave.com. its not like it matters to that customer, but i just wanted to call and ask the customer service rep, he was an awesome chilled out guy, he told me that intel should've planned it a little better buy lowering the price on b3 quads a little earlier and than introduce the g0 stepping. he said they bearly started selling the b3's and intel is still shipping b3's and G0's mixed to everyone.
he said he is cant even tell if they have any g0's cuz he wont want to lie to me, he said he might have some g0's in the inventory but its really hard to tell, he told me that if i want a g0 i should really order it from a place where its guranteed g0's otherwise some company's might ship some g0's to clear their old stock of b3's because the customer will be thinking that they might get a g0. he said even if they are shipping every other processor G0 stepping they are still clearing a lot of b3 stock. i was told to wait another month or two before a definite g0 probability.
Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to before placing my pre-order with Club IT. At this point, I'm very happy I did, as I have a 100% guaranteed G0 arriving tomorrow. One day before my second hard drive arrives for RAID, but I'll be getting my Knoppix overclock on while I wait :D
