This is a great thread. I'm a complete noob with the OC stuff. I've learned that the NB needs to be COOL! I am in the market for a watercooling combo for cpu, nb and sb and a new case. Can anyone make a recommendation. TIA

Hi, I have problem. I'v ordered P5N32-E SLI but I recived the PLUS version of the board. I can send it back but after reading this thread I'm a bit confused. The difference in price is about 6$ is it worth to do it? The sticker on my P5N32-E SLI PLUS box even states: "Due to NVIDIA nForcei680i chipset ASUS, only guarantees DIMMs on memory QWL [..]". What should I do?
Back again: Moved memory one more time to white slots, ran ORTHOs blend for 12 hours no problem. When I closed ORTHOs, it BSOD's. Temperatures while running ORTHOS never went over 42C. Everything is stock.
Contacted ASUS, they think everyone is an idiot, got to be bad RAM, video card, high temps, wrong memory, bad drivers, but in the end they will RMA the motherboard. This is the exact problem a lot of people with eVGA 680i's are having.
I hope I'm the only one! Save everyone else the headaches. I'd actually like to send it back and try something else, but I don't like loosing money on something that should perform.
This is an enthusiast's board, but it's hard to be enthusiastic at this stage.
Keep the plus version........ great board if you spend some time with it.
I want to warn you guys:
If you have any bios problem, check your ASUS Support CD and look what bios version is there BEFORE INSERTING THE CD TO RECOVER BIOS. On the driver CD I got with my nonplus mobo there was 0101 bios (retail board having 0302!), which is probably some engineering or testing version - IT DOES NOT WORK. Flashing alwas corrupts the bios, board does not post anymore. I even flashed the bios on a programmator and tried to reproduce the problem, it happens everytime, with all flashing methods (DOS floppy, USB stick, ASUS Update). After upmtenth flashing bios could not be flashed succesfully again - it always gave read errors. Removing the battery (even for several hours like Kunaak suggested) does not help. And I had to RMA my only LGA775 mobo, 3 weeks without my own rig :( using family's Athlon XP 1.9GHz with 512 ram :(
Any of you using the audio card that came with the board? I'm curious how it is compared to soudblasters. I have a few year old Audigy2 ZS Platinum and think I'll install that instead. Unless the ASUS is killer.
Random question, do the case pins have to be connected a certain way? Meaning is there only 1 right way to connect them? Writing up or down? I just want to make sure I don't put a positive plug into a negative pin and none of the documentation mentions this.
I'm satisfied with the onboard sound.
You won't short circuit your system with the case pins ;).
I have tested ASUS bundled card against SB Audigy2... and Audigy proved to be crap. The bundled card has better sound quality (subjective), plays much louder (objective), you can connect a front panel to it (objective) and 5.1 sound on Vista works (objective).
The only edge that Audigy has over that bundled one is integrated FireWire controller... which is of no use cause the board alreday has one.
sorry that was for the "non-plus" version =)
So, any solution for the SLI Plus board?
Any Vcore value between 1.4V and 1.55V gives me 1.4V :(
A quick question:
Does this board still have problem booting with 4x1GB ram ?
0602 here too, but this is what 1.475V from BIOS gives me...
http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/2897/voltagebb6.jpg
BIOS voltage monitor also says "1.4V" after I enter 1.475V and then Save->Exit
have you tried checking it with a multimeter?
Don't have one lying around. However, with the Vcore being limited at 1.4 I can get around 3.5-3.6GHz, which is pretty much what I found out on my previous board. On this one, bumping the Vcore to 1.6V, is the only option to give the CPU more than 1.4V, and the actual Vcore becomes 1.55V, which is also true, or at least in accordance to my Abit AW9D, and I can hit 4GHz with this much voltage.
Could it be the case that I removed my QX6700 to lap it and threw in my temporary E6700 without clearing CMOS? It's the first time I noticed a Vcore hole since I flashed to 0602 about a month ago...
Guys....have any1 of you hade any problems running creative cards on this puppy...with or wihtout SLI ..??
Wich PCI slot are you using for your soundblaster ..??
Soundblaster Live! 5.1 on the last PCI slot, 1x 8800GTS. No problems at all.
I'm using a x-fi in the last slot no trouble here. my crappy week 42 Conroe is a dfferent story though :(
