He already said - Citroen.
As its a C5, the HDi engine in that is likely to be the 1.6/2.0 or 2.2 although judging by the trim level, i'm going for the 2.0!
Thats a Euro Auto maker only?
brand new infiniti g35xs. Got myself a nice present for my 20th bday...
Citroen is French. Sells to everywhere in Europe, pulled out of the US market in the wake of the 1974 Energy Crisis.
Part of the PSA group, so its 68% owned by Peugeot.
^- i like the coupe version of that model :)
the figures for the hdi, did you simply add them up or have it "benched" :D
you cant really go by quoted power gains on these performance parts
as an example, the subuaru i had was 280bhp as standard, fitted with a +40bhp chip, uprated fuel rail, fuel regulator, recirc valve, bigger injectors, more powerful fuel pump, ram air intake with strictly cold air supply & exhaust .. added all up the car should have been pushing more than 400bhp
roll roaded at 336bhp if i remember and only achieved 342bhp after a further remap. including a competition clutch (that only lasted 23,000 miles), that lot cost more than 6,000 GPB .... or 13,000 dollors on exchange rate.
and thats on a naturally high asperating car. given the gains on percentage, a smaller horsey powered smoker would not gain as much
the passat tdi i have now is rated at 130bhp, i havent altered it apart from a air filter to allow better breathing and outweigh replacement elements. its quick and does over 50mpg treated right, the f'kin scoobby only did 4-12mpg
oh the money spent adding to al gores pie chart figures!
I may as well make my first post a car post. Here's my 05 Evo VIII RS (aka the "ticket magnet"):

I've got a thing for carbon fiber
are those TE-37 Time Attacks ? :slobber:
Yup, 18x9.5 +35mm offset. It was the widest wheel I could throw on it without running a widebody kit (275/35 FTW).
I'll admit that all the carbon fiber = rice, but the Moton clubsports and 489hp to the wheels sort of make up for it. If thats not enough I've got a lifted 07 2500HD as a daily driver.
carbon fiber is far from rice...;)
The roof and the trunk aren't rice (dry carbon). But that hood is about a three pound bag of it because it weighs more than the stock piece. Ford trucks = meh
Eh, i've been considering getting a lot of CF goodies for my car....they make whole doors in CF, as well as the bonnet and the tailgate - substantial weight savings! :)
http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...&hl=en&ie=UTF8
5kg each!!! 5!!! Consider if you will, each door on its own weighs over 4 times that much :D
Of course, these would be sprayed the same colour as the car, to be unnoticeable from stock parts ;)
What you do is, get a OEM style CF hood... And PAINT it.
;)
My front fenders are made of CF as well, but I had them painted because the rice was starting to jam my fail sensors. Anyway, I'd stay away from CF doors unless you're going to put a cage in your car. The CF crap thats on my car is pointless and I'd advise people to spend their money on track days and a good set of coil-overs (none of that JDM crap).
I'm going CF for weight saving....if i put in a cage a) i'll ruin the look of the interior b) it defeats the purpose of trying to save weight!
The car will still be rigid and safe enough in a crash...its not fibreglass!
I've seen some iffy composite work done over the years. The only way I'd run CF doors is if they were made with pre-preg CF and a nomex honeycomb core while still working with the OEM impact beems. Using parts that require an autoclave to make will usaully weed out most of the unsafe fiberglass/foam core filth on the market. I'm just saying be careful with those doors because anyone can make a CF part, but few can do it correctiy.
S2 are pro's at this sort of stuff....and there are no such impact beams in these doors of mine ;)
the scooby (subuaru) wrx had aluminium bonnet and boot or trunk as said in the US. lifting either was a feeling like you were incredibly strong. only thing was, the aluminium dented in a more nasty
I've got a Fibreglass bonnet in mind for mine - easily affordable, decent weight saving and looks like stock :)
I don't own any car, but my parents own 2 BMW's.
One is a BMW E53 X5 from 2002. Has a 3.0i engine in it and various packages installed.
The other is a BMW E46 325xi from 2004. Has a 2.5 liter in it and is similarly specced as the X5 with an extra cold weather package. I would love to have this car, if it only had a manual in it. Will still probably be my first car.
Here's my '93 Formula. I've had it for over 8 years now. Wife's Tahoe in the background.
http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/5227/formulaoe4.jpg
deffinately aluminium, magnet only stuck to doors and wings, boot and bonnet - no
was so light. huge advantage to that car was that the previous owner spend 6k GBP or 13k dollors on the engine improvements and a bit on styling. respray on bumper didnt match but that was soon sorted for a small amount ..... yes im fussy!
Nice. I've never really been a mucsle car guy or drag racer, but I've got nothing but respect for those things. My friend Jeff out in Maryland that owns one of the fastest Trans-Ams in the country (over 1200hp to the wheels) did some civic guy dirty on the 2nd season of PINKS. That thing is a beast.
Will post pics tomorrow just picked up a loaded Metallic Diamond Grey 2008 WRX with Navi. 5 spd of course. Car is super fun to drive but the break in period is absolutely killing me.
I got MR2 SW21 which is N/A version 1991 a lots of mod but not worth it. So don't mod your car unless you think the modding part is what you want instead of the result, just like I got $1000 muffler but it might just get get me 1 second faster on 0 to 60. That's a lot in numbers but in reality I really can't tell the different.
Expecting an exhaust to get you a second in 0-60 might be your issue. MR-2's are cool though, I have a friend with a turbo model and it scoots. For me it's half about doing the work and enjoying that time, and half about going too fast.
Agreed! Ive went out for 2 hour drives every night this week after work, they help me relax  I waxed it this morning, found some decent off the shelf wax because i was out of zaino. The Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0 is actually a ton better than the gen 1 stuff was. The car looks gorgeous I just wish I wasnt trapped at work until 8pm tonight.
omg hi2u choc. car looks good as always buddy.
here's a pic of my 2006 Evo IX w/ Megan Racing 3" TBE, Hallman Pro @ 23psi, Evo IX MR BBS wheels powder coated black, and Evo VII tails.....blacked out(for the most part)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43...x/DSC01186.jpg
yeah i know im riding 4x4(if thats what your getting at) for now but that will change in the future. eventhough the stock suspension has the horrible ride height it still handles pretty damn good.
My current daily is a 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Any other Avalanche owners out there?
awesome car, i like it.... I hear you guys on the ticket magnets, I had a cop fly across the throughway through a u turn median friday on my way in to work just because he saw me, i wasnt speeding or doing anything wrong he just wanted to hit me with the radar gun so I can clearly see where this is going :-)
Updated with a couple pics, these were taken on my iphone so be gentle with me haha.

The color really doesnt show but im awful at taking photos too. First thing on the agenda is ordering the SPT grille tomorrow because I dont care for the factory one. Also will be ordering the SPT CBE.
now my car is not original :shakes: as you see from the photos:rolleyes:
2003 Mazda Protége. Much better on the gas mileage than my previous vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Ram, so I'm pretty content with it.
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/8539/71853639sa3.jpg
I like the wheels on that thing :) Looks very fun to drive.
Sorry bro if you were insulted in any way. I actually think your car is quite cool. They didn't sell those in the US so I had never seen one before, I like it. I wasnt so much "hahaha" funny as it was the fact that everyone else was posting their "ricermobiles" (no offense to JDM stuff) and you go and post your ride, which is different in a good way.
i've owned several fast cars: skyline, 2x impreza wrx's, bmw m3 and an evo 5 - to name the fastest
evo beat the lot hands down. even the scooby, and that will upset alot of fans. the yaw control is awesome, shifting power to whatever corner is needed. you can corner faster and have less chance of losing it when you drive like an idiot. the active diff thingy means its heavier than its contender - the impreza, but its faster and more agile.
they are quite an expensive buy compared to the scooby though, but they do hold their price better too.
cleaned her today, and an update with the new rear wheels. I had to do a 5 lug axle conversion to get these on. The fronts will get done in a few weeks, I will be going to 13" discs in the front. They are Ford Motorsports 2003 Cobra Wheels 17x9 with 255/40 Sumitomo HTR Z III's. Needs paint badly too.

Your next one better be an S5 :D
Thats exactly what I'm looking at buying this coming November.
well... I'm also considering sacrificing comfort for flat out brute performance. A new Lotus Exige. :)
Got an '07 Volvo XC90 for the wife, and a '91 Sierra K2500 for me.
The Sierra is my pet project to get my hands dirty and learn about cars before I rebuild and restore a 'Vette for the wifey. Preferably a '63 'Vette Stingray ragtop (if I can find one).
Currently I'm doing a few jobs. I do computer tech work as an independent contractor, am a part time employee at a shop that specializes in modifying BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.
Haha.... If I had won the lottery, I'd definitely have a fine example of Italian automotive design in my garage.
The silver 2001.5 A4 was about $29k before all the modding and it's subsequent death in a bad car crash 4 years later.
I got the Evolution IX through a relative who works for Mitsubishi. So instead of the $35.5k price tag, I got it out the door for $29.8k ($2500 under the dealers invoice) including tax, license, and lojack.
The latest Audi I had specially ordered in late 2006 so it would have a "one of a kind" paint color (Sprint Blue Pearl Effect is an RS4 color only) to use at the 2006 SEMA convention in Los Vegas. At the time I was running Oettinger Performance GmbH here in the United States, but since my car arrived two weeks too late, the Oettinger body kit/wheels/exhaust/etc ended up going on my friends 2006 Audi S4 Avant.
Here is his S4 Avant.... I'm still pissed the ship from germany was late, causing me to put my body kit on my friends car for SEMA.
http://www.kalionzes.net/audi/Oettinger_S4_Avant.jpg
Gas mileage sucks enough in my 2.0T A4. The V8 is considerably worse.Quote:
The S5 would be better.
At least you can fit some people in it.
And it has a 4.2 V8 that sounds
Plus, I'm 6'2" and fit in an Exige just fine, even when wearing a helmet on the track.
I'd rather crash with the S5 though...I've seen pictures of an Exige hitting a tree:(
nice looking Evo Andrew.
When not driving my Bike I drive this:
http://olivelb.free.fr/Reims/Reims-Epernay021.JPG
Thx. If you guys wanna see it in action, last summer @ Buttonwillow Raceway in Central California, my friends and I did a weekend of track driving.
We mounted a video camera on the harness bar of my friends 2004 Subaru WRX which had tons of mods and 330awhp. VF34 turbo, front mount intercooler, slicks, megan suspension, etc.
About 1/3 way through the video you see a me pass him and for the rest of the video, he trys to play catch-up.
He was alone in his car, which should have been faster. I had street tires and a passenger with me.
http://www.kalionzes.net/video/Evopass1.avi.wmv (Right click and "save as") It's a 150mb video.
Got good pics of my YukonGT
Late model '94 on 285/75/16 M/T MTZ's with 50,000 on them..
Looking to change vehicles soon maybe though so might not own this much longer ;)
Maybe get a GMC Canyon or Chevy Colorado? :D
Too expensive to maintain for what i'd use them for.
Going for a cheaper 2wd truck for daily and a used 4x4 for winter/beating ;)
Too much work to make the bronco stand up to my standards plus its way top heavy and no box.
Boss has an F-150 of the same year, i'll pass on that one if it handles anything remotely close to his..
magnj, if you havent gotten the front wheels yet, put the rears up front, and get some 17x10.5 with some 315's, wheelreplicas will have em for ya
If you dont mind redoing the front end to keep it from falling off I guess. Hate the way Ford does it, too weak and when it wears down (which being a heavy use 4x4 it would) it gets sloppier than a GM thats been on the road for 250,000 ;)
I'll be getting a light pickup of some sort soon I imagine...
Ford
NickS will back me up. :yepp:;)

Yeah, I'm looking at a 1993 Ranger.
4.0 V6, looks to be in good nick.
Though I wanted a nice car, it's not very practical with where I live, and my dad might be getting a new ATV soon, so I'll get his old one (2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O.) and I need something to haul it with :D
I'd love a full size pickup, which would probably be a Dodge Ram, if fuel prices weren't so high.
If fuel prices ever drop down to more reasonable levels in the future, I'll try to get a Dodge Ram heavy duty with a Cummins diesel  :yepp:
...unless by then, I don't have the need for a pickup truck anymore...
...or I could do a V8 swap in the Ranger :rocker:
A Dodge Dakota wouldn't be bad, but it sucks to find a newer one that's in my price range.
Drop a Cummins 4bt in a full size truck, 30mpg isnt out of the ordinary and makes decent power.
More fun to put them in a "small" 4x4 though. 30mpg easier than the full size truck and lighter overall.
Some guy around my area was selling a Ranger 4x4 with a 4BT. There is a video of it on youtube under the user "Mooktank" I believe. He was only asking $6000 or so for it. Not sure whatever happened to it.
Another cool thing I saw was a Cummins 24v ISB dropped into an old Monte Carlo, you can get that engine easily over 400 HP, and still get 30 MPG :yepp::)
I own a '96 Vortech Supercharged Mustang GT Convertible and a '95 Volvo 460GLT
