Now, I was able to get 4.2 with 1.5v;) Impress me and push that baby:p:

Mine also cant validate it .....Ive done some cinebenhes, just playing around with the NB and HT also.......Was just playing around with the volts

Pretty good i reckon, can't wait to put it under water.
Giving more volts result in instability.
They are having issues trying to validate, etc they are crashing, its not the version its a suicide and unstable ;)
Example I can get it to idle, i can't validate or take screenshot yet on AIR

Because your bios improperly ID's the chip as a 1.35part? Your not wasting my time, just alot of peeps like/want all core clock results.
Lowrun it's sadly people who make comments like that that are going to ruin it for the rest of the crowd, especially since you don't even know the whole story behind it.
Lost some good quality members because of things like this, S7 comes to mind. Luckily for the majority I have tough skin and my all powerfull ignore list as a last resort.
Dude it was just for you to understand that you could make your point (which is valid) without being harsh. And i admit i don't know the whole story but never really liked tease threads, still you have every right to make one if you feel like doing so, XS is yours as much as mine.
Edit: Oh, and i can't remember S7 posting a tease thread, only straight info before anyone else, i had utmost respect for the man.
I want do to cranck up all four cores but the darn stock cooler isn't exactly helping here. Will try to show better results when the cpu is under water.
Saying it's a good/average/bad overclock because it's only one core should have sounded more friendly instead of comparing it to your own results, just to make it look even worse.
We're not all having finger chopping delta's and cpu's in the mail daily you know? ;)
I think i got an "OK" clocker (recieved today so haven't spent much time)

On a side note, i got the A-79A-S 3 days ago, stuck my "crappy" 9850BE in it that would only get to 2.8 STABLE on my MSI K9A2
This is the result:

So a good chance i will net a decent increase putting the 940 in the Foxconn
I say tomato you say tomato, what you may construe as a tease thread I constructed as a suspense thread..sort of the edge of your seat type deal. The new thread I made was not supposed to exist, I was a minute away from posting stuff when it got derailed.......
However it has nothing to do with this thread so bringing it up is pointless.
Ill be posting results soon if things go allright.
I installed my very first WC yesterday. Some thinks took quite some time however other things which I thought would be frustrating weren't at all (cutting tubes, filling res, pump on/off, filling res etc). It ran all night now, no leaks so guess Im fine. Ill leave it running a bit longer because of a few air drops in the tubes, they're very small but whatever I do, they wont leave:rolleyes:. I was afraid I didnt have enough coolant. Only had 2L, but I couldnt even empty one bottle:p: Better too much than not enough though:rolleyes:
Also installed a Dominator Airflow fan, Ive no idea if I installed that thing properly but I guess Ill find out if it falls of in the middle of a gaming session:ROTF:
One thing was frustrating, I got all my parts about a week ago already. However, I had yesterday theory exams for driver license. I know from experience that new stuff and school (or learning in general) is a serious issue for me and it was very hard not to start playing with the toys. However, was worth it, only had one error on exams:cool:
Well I was able to play around with my new chip last night for about 2 hours so I was able to run 3DMark06 and some wPrime. I already posted the '06 results in another thread so I will show my wPrime results here. Even though temps were well under 50c it still seemed like there was some sort of heat issue. So as stated previously it seems that these things want to be cold.
i experienced this 55/56c socket (61/62c coretemp) stress crash yesterday. if it stays at this temp for more then a few mins, it will fail. i couldnt figure out how my temps rose so much (the chipset was also spiking causing more heat to get to the rads).
i bought a dust remover spray and cleaned out the rads as best as i could without unscrewing them from the housing, cleaned out the side intake fan, and also topped off the res to max (was mid-way full (i think my tubing is quite porous, as I need to refill every 5-6 months, and doesn't look like i have a leak)). temps dropped 7-10c! stable again. i think i could even add more voltage to get 3.8, but eh summer is coming, and that will add more c's, so best to just leave it here. bad result is that i can hear the intake fan now, hehe. maybe ill swap it out with a more efficient one..
word to the wise folks, clean out the dust critters every 6 months!
This whole thread is worthless if people have been shutting down 3 cores just to show a high clock at low voltages.......Thank god my results are legit......and Im starting to think when I look at other peoples results that are lacking that there are now reasons behind it.
Stop crying mister, the 3 cores weren't shut down, they where just running 3.6GHz.
Geez what's with you guys?
Anyone noticed im on a frikkin stockcooler?
Rest assured as i will give you some results with all 4 cores running full throttle once i get the cooling sorted.
It's just taking some time, check my sig and you'll see why.
I wish i had just lied and said it was running all 4 cores, would you have noticed??
If it wasn't pointed at me i apoligize but tbh, i haven't seen any other result with cores turned off. I must admit that i haven't looked closely though.
No need to, no hard feelings. :buddies: :D
K10 stats allows you to overclock each core on it's own, for me it was nice, that one core seemed just a tad stronger than the others and helped me to run 3.9GHz for 1M.
I could have taken a pic of 4GHz with the same voltage but i didn't succeed to validate though. :D
Temps are really bad on this setup right now as it idles at 43ºC with 1.35V.
Zeus, we fully appreciate you being honest. I fully understand you are on stock and I can appreciate your concern for temps ;) as I am somewhat conservative my self. Please don't take this directed at you.
I tend to agree with titan here though on the useless thing in the sense that I personally don't think its right to mislead people.......If everyone started popping up 4.6g shots at 1.45 volts...... and PI runs on 1 core at 4.4-4.5 while all the other cores were stock or underclocked it would be very misleading, espcially if not noted........or intentionally not noted or even worse claiming to be all 4 cores. This is specifically why I ask for Cinebench runs or 3d as its a dead giveaway performance wise.
If viewers made purchases or went stepping hunting based on the results and could not come close to acchieving that goal they would be upset.....I know I would be.
Well yes, there's many way to fool people, that has never been my intention and never will be-- that's why i said it was only 1 core.
I do understand your guys concern though and will not promote the usage of this prog here. ;)
Usually i overclock from bios only myself but windows7 64bit seems pretty hard on the cpu whilst booting so i had to use a prog in windows.
Btw, is there any program that allows tweaking memory on the fly like Intel has memset?
I found an old copy of A64 tweaker on my HD (anyone familiar with that good old program?) but it didn't work for K10 it seems. :(
By all means use it, use page 2 though, P state all cores. Thats what I have used for all my validations. AOD is still a little buggy. And by all means crank up a single core till you get better cooling, I don't want to see you kill a chip due to heat. Just don't forget to note it was 1 core.
Finally got my setup running, under OCCT 3.0.0 28~29C. That's at stock though. Under idle it's 19~20C:cool:
god i want to get my 120.3 x2 going again, nice little setup for CPU and NB cooling.
Exactly,, CAPABLE CLOCKS with all cores is what we need indeed;)
Hmm Hi Pi and Huge single Core runs are Nice . If it NOT Stated its Single Core Run it can spoil the overall Average making some think oh another 4.4ghz bla bla bla.
Besides that, The progress is amazing even in the last Month with 940,, Its just Amazing.
Im noticing the Yiel/Batches are getting better and that lower Volts can be used for higher Clocks now. Yup even some of us people are Trying Higher Volts for max runs too. Its Nice that the 45nm Cx (IMC and even NB/NT is a lot tougher than the 65nm B3 counterpart it replaces.
Im still holding out till First week of March then hopefully ill get another torture chip. I want to pick wisely since i wont grab another CPU probally untill end of August.
Several projects i have to weld up for Summer ,,starting with my F-150 (Hmm ittle baja project). Once April is here its welding and Fabing pretty much 16hrs a day:D.

I'm currently at a 3.6GHz wall. My chip HATES the heat - Once it gets above 52* I instantly get a BSOD, no matter how much voltage (less seems to be more stable since its cooler) I purchased a nice 220CFM Delta fan and a lap kit, lets see if it makes any difference. Does anyone else have a solution, other than spending $200 on water cooling?
have you tried replacing the chip with a different one? you could go and get the Thermal Take V10 cooler with its built in TEC.
Couldnt validate this due to my registry being borked but....if the registry wasn't borked it would have saved.
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/5150.JPG
and to show that it was more than capable of being validated.....

The coolermaster v10? No, I'm not spending $150 on a cooler when I can wait for the Xigmatek Thor's Hammer (S126384) for half the cost and still get better results.

Very nice. Wish I could afford water :(
Ive some sort of weird thing going on guys. Maybe it's a hardware failure of my motherboard but not sure yet.
I tried to OC my system in all sorts of ways and I had a lot of issues. I had hard times getting things stable, tried both other multipliers and HTT.
However, Ive always set Vdimm straight upto 2.16, since that's the max Vdimm to run its specs, so to be safe I just set it that way to rule out the RAM.
Now I set my Vdimm to 1.80 and only used multipliers to OC and got 3.8Ghz 2h OCCT stable.
Does this mean that PhII's dont like much higher than 1.8Vdimm's? There's however another eventual explanation;
This board and a 9950BE had at some point an issue because I accidentally inserted on DIMM incorrectly (one side wasnt 'locked'). Since then all 4 DIMMs (other then Ive now) gave a C1 error, or one wouldnt be read (all 4 inserted but only 3GB read) etc. I thought the IMC was damaged and RMA'd it. However, I just got a mail from the shop saying they couldnt find anything after a week of testing. This could mean two things, either I didnt check correctly and one/two DIMMs are indeed damaged or the motherboard has somewhere an issue:confused:
Before my move to WC I used another board where I couldnt get much more than 3.7Ghz stable, used high 2.16Vdimm back then. However 3.7Ghz was stable and it was on air. I couldnt get 3.7Ghz stable in above situations but now I lowered Vdimm Ive even 3.8Ghz stable. Hard thing to tell whether I couldnt get much more than 3.7Ghz on the previous board + air due to the Vdimm or just because it was on air and was almost hitting the 50's.
Did anyone experience any lower OCíng with 2.15-ish Vdimm? Or does this really sound like my motherboard is borked, although would the only ~3.7Ghz on air cause of the air? This is confusing, with a lot more testing I could most likely get it figured out, but I'd like to get some feedback running to prevent eventual useless time wasting on testing.
:ROTF: And it isnt stable anymore after 3h of OCCT.
Man, Im starting to suspect this board/BIOS big time.
As soon as Gigabyte's 790FX-UD5P is available it's going to be mine.
Well in my overclocking adventure I've noticed that my system doesn't like increased voltage to the NB. I am overclocking my RAM quite a bit though, from stock 400MHz to 540MHz.
I get almost no BSOD's, the screen goes just black and the mouse and keyboard seem to lose power (Ive a G15, LCD goes off and the mouse speed indication LED is off as well). The feww times I got a BSOD on XP it was always a Machine Check Exception.
But mainly I seem to lose power or so, Ive almost no BSOD's. Im awaiting for the 790FX-UD5P. I checked the BIOS's of the AM3 ones to compare with the actual availability, think this board will be in 2~4 weeks. Whether Ive a :banana::banana::banana: batch or not, at least this board seem to pack a whole lot more than any of those retarded DFI boards did thus far. Combined with the pleasant results I got with the DQ6 a year ago, cant wait to get this.
I took a look at the BIOS manual, and it comes with loads of Voltage settings:shocked: Scroll down to the BIOS page;

here my overclock speed for my Phenom II 940. I'm disappointed with the Coolit A.L.C. it only push me to 3.5ghz at default core voltage at 1.35.
I tried using 1.50v and 1.55v at 3.8 and 3.7but I end up getting a BSOD when I run the 3DMark or and Prime95. Plus the idle load at those speeds put me at 46 C and 59 C on 100%
