Just Got an A64 NewCastle (0421CG) and Abit KV8Pro Ver 1.1 mobo.

The paste on the NB was not properly applied.

here's my results. VCore@ 1.8v.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...A64/san-02.jpg
Basically I want to do 1:1. instead of the current 5:4 Memory Ratio. Should I get OCZ's 3500 or 3700 EB RAMs? another would be Adata DDR500????
htkm, Go for BH5s. You've done vtt mod right? Pull the 3.3v from pin on the bottom of the board where the ATX 3.3v goes to the Leg of Vdimm mosfet and you should be all set. 3.38v vdimm + 1.67v VTT works good together. A Vcore mod should get you more on the clocks.
Cheers man. :toast: a...which one is the Vdimm mosfet? a bit more detail with pics would be really good. and also the VCore mod. :D

Awesome!
Should I disable my k8nnxp vdimm mod to do that?Quote:

And another thing, i have a friend who is going to "buy" a newcastle 3200+ cpu, wich step would he go to? (he has an informatic shop).
welcome tbonekot. nice chip :D
I just got another 3000+ chip but I'm not sure if it has CO or CG stepping is there a way of telling by lookings at the chip. I rather know before hand so I can return it easier.
Quite simple.Quote:

AP = C0
AR = CG (clawhammer)
AX = CG (newcastle)
the first two letter of the core (ex. CAAOC)
CA = CO or CG core
CB = CG (newcastle core)
My new 3200+ 0416 @ 2525mhz and 1.7v vcore. Watercooled. Load spikes voltage to 1.74 or so as seen in the screenshot. Once I get my OCZ DDR Booster I'll do the vcore mod and see it I can do 2.6ghz (260x10) at 1:1.

2nd ROLL NOS. 0421 is the Batch.

my new config :D
it's faster then 313*8 but i don't know why?
http://www.forumdeluxx.de/gallery/da.../101731_5V.JPG
well at 313fsb you memory is iether doing 313x166/200=259mhz or 313x133/200=208. if you memory was divided to 133mhz that would explain why it is slower. cpu is the same speed but memory is down from 250 to 208. therefor entire system is slower. if you are using the 166 memory divider then i can't explain the drop in performance unless you dropped the ldt setting or loosened the memory timings
Ldt was the same (3) and the timings also the same! The memory has also the same speed (258) I don't know why its slower then sychron!

what's goin' on guys
who has the biggest virtual pen*s of the watercooler-guys here, now ? :D
i can't go past 240MHz because my 2x512MB 3700EBs don't wanna go higher with only 2.82V VDIMM (maxed out @ GB K8N-non-Pro)
w8ing for DFI Lanparty-UT :D

my 2x512MB 3700EBs don't go more far then 240MHz with only 2.82V....but i told that all in my post....so, how i see, u didn't read it
(btw, the K8N of GigaByte doesn't let me configurate async-driving....there isn't any option, which allows me that :()

I read it very well actually but was thinking that you obviously knew that async option which has been mentioned about a 1000 times in this forum.. but obvious you didnt
try pressing ctrl + f1 in the bios ;)
So next time try thinking or asking twice before you´re giving people the rolleyes ;)
MAN, where that option came out ?! :D :D :D ;)
sorry :D :wierd:
ok, just w8 for results, will be back in a few moments :D
lol, there isn't any divider-options....
only one option, to set the max MEM-Clock @ 200MHz....but then, the HTT-clock is @ 200MHz fix too....
so, no way
download another bios ;) F9 version is what you want.. and the divider option is there ;) I´ve played with this board several times and owned the top end model k8nnxp so I know its there...
are u really sure ?
because, i've already the F10-Bios
bias_hjorth - i notice that macci also uses f9. is that because of better memory overclocking or bandwidth or 1t timing results or what?
edit: i just checked giga's website and no f9 available. you seen a copy somewhere?
yes the f9 is slighty faster cause of tighten timings:
http://s6.invisionfree.com/undercloc...hp?showtopic=5 <--- bios
ok, i flashed the F9-BIOS....but there still aren't divider :(
just @ "Max Memclock" are 2 new options called
"xxx1" and "xxx2" but dunno what they are :stick:
so, u had had the board....tell me something about it :D

*signs
flash to the newest officiel one and then flash back.. Cant show you dude.. look for uself
dude, i really don't know from which divider-option u r talkin about....
now i flashed the F11 official....now i can set CPC to 1T or 2T...nice....but there isn't ANY divider....
but with the F11 i can set the multi....BUT, the VDIMM-max decreased from "default+0.3V" to "+0.2"
so, i think, i'll flash the F9 from tictac again :-/
This is basically my highest stable FSB, 224 bye bye OS...
2620mhz (218x12) is faster though, but I like running these settings 24/7 b/c I can keep vcore under 1.65 and it gives me 33sec pi runs.
anything above 219fsb with a 12x is not stable.

Hmm.. my new 3000+ is an "AR" not "AX". Must be a Clawhammer CG with half the L2 cache disabled then?
Will take a picture tomorrow, and post.
It does 2500Mhz @ 1.65vcore on AIR. Stock cooler with TT 70mm fan @ 4500RPM.
Yes, a 3000+ AR is a clawhammer core with 512KB disabled cache.Quote:

Humm..A bit of Improvement. Perviously it was 240x10 Stable and 250x10 would Boot into windows but it would Reboot again.
running on W/C. Now Doing 2.6Ghz @ 1.8v. As you can see i't under volting like Abit. Prime Not Stable. But I'm able to play UT2004 and D3 without any craching or Hanging. Need more VCore Voltage.

Thanks
Idle Temp. @ 44~45C. But the Temp. reading is F!%ked Upped! Cause even @ 1.8v Vcore it's still reads 44~45C.

Anyone got any first hand experience with the 3700+ with air or water cooling? I was thinking about getting one, and noticed that they have CG stepping and 1MB cache. Just curious on overclocking results. TM30 just a couple questions, what exactly is your fan setup like on your rads? Fans? Push/pull? Voltage ran at? and of course your idle/load temps at those clocks you posted.
This seems to be my max overclock. And this gives an error in prime.
Its not my memory, so think it might be my cpu maxing out :(
http://users.pandora.be/lifeless/CPUZ.JPG
My SATA drive is connected to slot n°3.
My memory has 3.08V cpu 1.7.
Anyone got any advise on how i might get higher? or do you think this is the max of my CPU? I do have a batch number of 4xx so thats not that good i think.
Specs:
A64 3000+ CG 0416
2*512mb OCZ EB 3700
DFI LanpartyUT 250Gb
80Gb SATA
Edit, just checked my vcore, and seems to flucuate between 1.648 and 1.712. Is that a lot?
i got this HTT but i cant get it stable
http://users.pandora.be/lifeless/300HTT.JPG
Whats your cooling?
I have watercooling on cpu and chipset ( but chipset seems to get real hot +- 50°C)
just finished testing this, using this as reference since i Just received my 3200 Plat Rev 2.0 and I wanna make sure I can run 1:1 with it :D
according 2 my experiences & observations the following Steppings have a great possibility of a good clock-achievement
5 letter code: CAA..
4 letter code: XPMW
the week code is a little bit more tricky as it seems cause its not always like
the latest is the best especially week 21 seems to suck a lot.
would u confirm this!?
Here is a screen about my OCZ EB!They run great but no more! Now I have A-DATA PC4000
At now I'm running:
AMD64 3000+@260*10@1,55V
MSI K8N Neo Plat.

Is that with a XT-PE?Quote:

i'll probaly need to change the cooler, because the chip doesn't have the shim, so it's a bit lower than the normal processors, is that correct?
nice. looks like a cg stepping. did ythe chip come with a cooler and a retention bracket?
I am trully amazed about this 6800 and AMD A64 3500+ processor.
B4 Radeon 9800 @ AGP 4x max was 119x11(2.4Ghz) now with the GeForce 6800 @ AGP 8x 233x11 (2.45Ghz) running perfect also the CPU is running with default voltage :)

I have been met with nothing but trouble while overclocking on air but I just purchased the A64 adapters for my koolance and My temps have dropped 40 degrees. The funny thing is I have the ORIGINAL Mushkin PC3200 LevelII with the original BH5's in them and I have to keep the ram at 2.8v to boot the frickin machine stock. This is the same RAM that Pedro used to f*ck Macci's 6GHz benchmarks up. But I am running 2-2-2-5-1T but even when running from the SPD it would still crash. I had problems with a fresh install of XP b/c it kept complaining that it couldnt read random files on the windows cd so I bumped the voltage and low and behold it fixed the problem. Now the Abit K8V Pro I have automatically does 204 out of the box but even manually adjusting it yielded the same results. I will also say the bios reported the SPD at Cas 2.5 whether at 204 or 200 which I found very odd. I have not tried overclocking big time yet b/c I just put everything back together 2 days ago and I am happy to say atleast I am running very stable 204x11=2244@2-2-2-5-1T. I can get into Windows at 11x215 fully tweaked but crashes after I take the SS. Yes I am flashed and I do not have the 1.x revision.
it came only the chip, and it doesn't have the shim, the core is exposed, like this one:Quote:

Could you give your impression of the Abit compared to the DFI? I have the Abit and really like it. But I'd be curious to hear your thoughts since you have both boards.
Thanks.
both mobo are tested on the chip + ram (bh5)Quote:

reasons why i show the abit mobo @ slightly better result is because the ram is set to run @ 5:4 timing (ddr333) due to the low vdimm
n' dfi nf3 @ 2.65ghz because of it high vdimm allow it to run @ 1:1 (ddr400)

imho both board are great
dfi need not to mod whereas abit need to do a vdimm mod if u want to achieve nice 1:1 result

Thanks for the lead Flytek. I have some interesting news on my OC. I poked around in the bios because of a post on this board and I started looking for the LDT which was set at 5X. I lowered it to 3X and ran 3dMark05 stable at 210x11 which is a first for me. Well the score is 4400 with my 6800GT flashed with Ultra bios and oc'd to 420/1.11. Well I get 5200 with LDT 5x at 11x204. wtf
I also called Mushkin to figure out why I have to run at 2.8v and they suggested lowering from 2-2-2-5-1T to 2-3-2-5-1T. wtf
help help help
nah. screw them. 2.8 is totally safe for bh-5/6. i have seen many sets that would not do what they were rated for until given 2.8volts. just be happy you have some.
hi I'm new to this fourm and ocing on amd 64 platform...
I'v read the whole thread tho took me like one day to read throught it...
ya my current comp is 2500@3.2ghz but I'm selling that and I'm thinking of buying a amd 64...
now I need some help from you guys...I gonna be ocing with air...cause I'm poor...
I wnated to get a 3000 nc cg core or mabye a 2800 cg core
cause avg oc with 3000 on stock air is 2.3 from what I read
I'v seen people get their 2800 go 2.5 on stock air coolin
now I'm not sure about the mobo
MIS K8N neo platnum
or
Abit KV8 Pro K8T800 Pro
I would be happy with a 2.3ghz oc with stock air
since I only use the pc for gaming, would there be a big difference(performace/money) wise between the k8t800 and the NF3 250 chipset
I got a 9800pro AWI
ram: 2x512 infineon 400ddr pretty cheap...
please help me find what's the best setup for a decent oc thaks in adavance.
After waiting a full week for account activication, here's my first post :D

33s SuperPi is a lil slow for 2.7GHz 1MB, because the memory was running at 9:10.
At 2.65GHz (265MHz x 10), my Kingston Hynix D43 is able to run at 1:1 @ 2.5-3-3 1T at 2.8V, which is also the highest performance.

At 2.6GHz (265MHz x 10), 1.75V, Hynix D43@2.7V, the system is fully stable for both the CPU and memory. After some tweakings, I managed to hit 33s, at 2.6GHz
