One of my dual- 9800gx2 rigs just died. The PSU light lights. No post no nothing at power on. I suspect the PSU. No way to troubleshoot without taking another rig down at the moment. :shakes: Everything was cool to the touch when discovered. :(

ohhh that sucks wfo, what is your daily score on one of your 9800gx2?? in fh spy, i just got my gx2 up and running :) but they are only showing 2400each, for a total of 4400ppd on a9800gx2
whe the HELL did i do wrong now..... grrrrrrr !!!
that new gpu core is way too powerful man.. it just turned your system into a 1200w system and smoked your psu...
sorry about the rig problem.. I couldn't resist the joke. :shakes:
My 9800 gx2s are/were good for 10.4K to 12K plus ppd. Don't know what your issue is.
Yah! It was core 1.15 that smoked it. I'll pull the 9800 GX2s and hook up a known good Silencer 600 with a junk card in an effort to troubleshoot tomorrow. Based on Egg reviews the OCZ PSUs have their share of problems. :(
Here's what actually happened at WFO's home...
Penalty to Skycrane
for low X2 Output...
ill take the penalty, but can you at least tell me what i did to get it???
i hate to say this and please dont take it the wrong way, but im not sure if i like this folding...ive got all this brand new hardware to fold with, and i cant get it to work properly... i hate computers that dont do what they are told to do.... :)
Skycrane gimma some vnc acces and I'll make it run :hrhr:
lol, thanks marvin......
Did you set up using the link in Marvin's sig? That might help. And it seems like the only way you would be getting that low of a ppd is if you are running them both on the same gpu. So, let us see the client.cfg of each of your gpu clients and we'll see what we can do?
they are located in c:\maxfah\data\clients\,,,, your cards.
But the gpu -x has been set correctly ( not that I checked, I mean I only have one card still ) but 1 + 1 should be two and I think your computer is better even at math then I am ;)
Skycrane, Let Marvin help you...Give him Net access to your rig. I am too buzzed to help.
Bottums up Doug :toast:

My GPU's all downloaded core 13...Can I still use core 11 ?
I just leave them all in the folder Dak, and let the client pick which one it wants... so far it gives me the optimized one on all the gpu's that use it. I've never manually dl'ed one, so all mine are just ones that fah dl put there..
see...
We have an update coming at midnight tonight to finalize week 2, so I'm going to for-go posting a little partial report this morning... it's not worth the effort only to have another one tonight at midnight... just use yesterday's if you're looking for info, it's only 24hrs ago http://www.scootplace.net/fah/XS/halloween/
Tonight's / tomorrow morning's (however you choose to look at it) report will be week 2 final, then we'll resume normal daily updates for week3 on monday morning..
ok Mr Referee...Now share your tasty little tarts.
Oh how I like that one...I think she could kill me...:)
That girl just looks creepy!
Thx, that's a pic of my mom 3 years ago...
Doesn't look to shabby to me though
Woot! The dead rig is back up. It swallowed a valve traveling over 250mph down the back straight. :(
PG needs to hog tied for putting mandatory rev limiters on all rigs with the 5748s. :shakes:
I looked at new PSUs at Micro Center new king of the bait and switch since CompUSA died. They had Silencer 750s for $125 after a manufacturer rebate of $25. I got there in less than 1/2 an hour. They still had the sign on the shelf. When the cashier tried to print out my rebate form, he could not find it. I pulled the sign off the shelf and he matched the SKUs. The website no longer showed it. One supervisor and a manager later I walked out with the new PSU for $125 cash. :p: Gawd i hate rebates. :( I'll RMA the OCZ 1000w on Monday.
www.hogtied. something WFO :poke:
 I was shaking in my chair so hard my gf asked what for so I showed her a certain site by that name ( she didn't enjoy it though :slapass: )
Nice work WFO. I wish I had places around here to do that with. Only thing I have is a crappy Staples. Good to see your machine back up though.
BTW, where is everyone, this place has been kinda dead all day? Do people actually have things to do on Saturdays?
I haven't done a thing all day, just been sitting here watching the boob tube... Something tells me i won't be doing a darn thing all day tomoro too.
Well done WFO:clap::clap::clap:
Mike didn't post stats this morning. Dak is probably 2 bottles of Grey Goose to the wind already and everyone else is probably tired of arguing with Marvin about the points cut.:rofl: If he keeps posting links to :banana::banana::banana:o sites we'll have more visitors for sure.
I'm just waiting for the Cal- USC game to start. 3 more hours. :(
Edit: I'm pretty lucky with my current location. I'm less than 45 minutes from Petra's, OCZ, AMD, Micro Center and a Fry's. I'm sure i'm close to Intel also. I just haven't seen them yet.:ROTF:
I didn't complete the link :poke: ;)
Yeah I found the forums abit dead today to. Dissapointed in you guys to let the wcg people make me a bday thread, spend almost all my time in this forum, maybe it's not appriciated :(
Lol... Hereyougoweid isn't really a metropolitan area as well  Infact it's abit of a... naw I won't say, who knows I might have neighbours reading along
There's a main page? Happy B-day Marvin! How old are you now? You don't look a day over 20. :D
It's listed as well :p
The big dreaded THIRTHY
Edit btw where the **** did you see a picture of me lol I need to take it down :poke: *must be the frapper page*
Happy 30th birthday!!
Thanks, it's over midnight though

This is a week's END CHART and will look a little different than the daily reports, just read the legend and bar labels...
The user PPW chart is getting too micro to use numbers, so if you need exact numbers, open the link above (SHEET2 section).

The charts are to hard to comment on, whiskey does seem to have taken a lead bigger then our disadvantage was in week, but every team has increased production  :wtf: :oscar:
ThunderDuck...I am just barely edging you out...
P.S. I am 100% sober this am....wow, what a rush...
:coffee:
And more :coffee:
;)
Edit: also I didn't want to name numbers, their to absolute
:rofl:Those 5748's blew my case off my mobo...
Actually I have 4 case-less rigs
Blam
Nice home made whatever you would call it
I'm starting to feel more and more like the duckling here
All 5748's when I got up...Now only 1 left...
Dak, what to you boot those caseless rigs from? USB drive or LAN or what?
Actually there is a HDD behind each one, the balance of the files are from my Server sitting on my Lan.
I can't wait to buy a house and fill the basement with octocore rigs.
Now there's the spirit...
The one octocore rig I have is 2 opteron 2350's with Vista x64. You guys think it would be ok to run 4 smp clients with AC? Or should I just stick to 2?
4 s/b no problem...I can easily run 2x smp with 2x GPU's on a Quad
Why not use Notfred's? four vm's with smp on two cores, or less with the right flags to get the a2 core? a2 should max out the octocore on it's own already afaik (!!??)
WFO & RR were in the Top 25 outputs for yesterday...:clap::clap:
F@H Halloween Team XS Salutes you !!!
a2 core is supposed to fix the whole dual smp thing. but that doesn't explain why RR gets 8000ppd out of one quad on 2 linux a2 core wu's by running dual linux smp's... so I wouldn't put too much faith into a2 solving the dual smp issue quite yet. sure it's better than a1, but it's even more efficient if you tell it to run on 2 cores per client. otherwise RR wouldn't see 8000ppd on his QX9650 using dual smp in ubuntu.
:up::up::up: :clap::clap::clap:
Great work guys!!
That's linux cat. and that's what I thought.. a2 still likes 2 cores per client to run on... so you still get better utilization with dual smp's even with a2. which shoots a big fat hole in PG's story of no more dual smp needed for a2.. eventhough they say smp is designed for quads, the numbers dont lie. you still get better ppd running them as a dual core client.
that same Q6600 is what mine are in Vista and I get about 1500ppd per client (a1).
Gotcha. I'm getting about 1.5k ppd per smp client on my q6700 as well. I guess I'll stick to 4 a1 smp clients then.
So when's the A2 core coming to windows?
PG is having problems getting a2 stable in windows, so no eta..
In Vista with 2-SMPs QX9650 @ 4Ghz I get 2000 for each or 4,000 total plus 2-GPUs. @ catawalks I am not sure about A2s and windows, I read somewhere than windows was not stable enough to run A2s...
Yeah windows is just not as good as linux  Sorry Bill :poke:
Wake Up Everyone! *bangs Trashcan*
 To Notfred's dual VM I guess.
Edit actually there is tweak room left.. I got 10% cpu iddle time
Wfo sorry update will have to wait ( but I got the new eue notify done just need to finish the own clients list and gui changes  ) Biggest change will be the new version being an installer since I added zip support for submitting bug reports ( all log files/queue.dat files/debug output ) and the zip lib is 3rd party :(
linux dual smp is different than windows. with linux you're basically telling it to run each client on 2 cpu cores with a taskset command.. otherwise it's just running both clients on all 4 cores. and you wont see the high ppd.
example...
Code:RUN CLIENT #1:
cd ~/FAH1
taskset -c 0,3 ./fah6 -smp -local -advmethods
RUN CLIENT #2:
cd ~/FAH2
taskset -c 1,2 ./fah6 -smp -local -advmethods
maybe I'm confused with NF, I've never used notefred's and really don't know anything about it. I just thought it was a linux ver smp. shoot me down if I'm off here..
but I'm on about the taskset commands with dual smp in linux.
yeah but I got two vm's not one :)
ok.. those dual smp ppd numbers just looked low for linux...
a1 core and just 3g??
make sure to put -advmethods in... they used to grab more a2's that way..
-advmethods is on afaik, let me check, Darnit nope not on, thought notfred's put them on by default.. Now, I can edit the cfg directly and restart the vm's but I got no idea if that holds.. brb
Well it is on, running reconfigure.html says it is.. I thought it wasn't because it's not listed in client.cfg
you'll have to RR's input on what they are throwing down the linux pipeline now, and with what flags... I haven't run linux smp since I reformatted my mepis folder to make room for the 9600gso in Sept... back then I was getting about 50/50 mix of a1 and a2's.. at first we had to use the "flag that shall not be named" to get a2's.. but then later on in the summer, -advmethods did the trick..
It's a mistry to me, the config page says it's on but the log file says diffrent. Or does the linux client only logs if it flag is not used hehe.. don't think so but tbh their running and even with this low output you say for linux I'm up from 4k normally to 6k according to fahmon. Though that's also because I dropped that no name flag for the gpu and am back on the smaller one's :)
Yeah well I also just booted the vm's and run them, but I see that my checkpoints aren't being written to hdd so I think I better not close the vm to try and play with init ( I read somewhere that's the file I could do the most with ).
angra, I've cut down your lead from XX years to...

Argh, one of my smp clients died. Came home and it was stuck. I closed it and tried it again and it just kept erroring out. Anyone know what this is:

Well drat. Fold6, my 9600GSO, is down. PSU developed a few leaky caps. Cheap thing. I can fix it but my soldering iron and spare capacitors are back at home and I'm at school  It'll be about a week before I get it going again :(
One of these days I'll have real PSUs powering my stuff.
well, ive got less than half of my hardware up and running, and its still not running at spec. my gx2 is still only pumping out 5kppd :( i really have no idea whats going on .....
i thought this was going to be an easy and fun race to play with for a few weeks,
it has been anything but easy, definatly not fun. and i would not have minded the expense to much, except that none of my new hardware that i bought, most of it is just lying around :(
I think it's because the vm's are limited to dual core's and you need proper quad's for the a2 core. Maybe native linux os, with a windows vm to do my daily buisiness :poke:
Don't know my way around linux though, so I doubt I'll do it
The most important leason from that is this one, you're frustated now, but
for each frustration you have now a stronger feeling of accomplishment will take it's place when you do get it going
Now excuse me. I'm on diaper duty :sofa: ( hides from the smell ;) )
Oh, snap!
~ 10 MIL points in just a little over 2 weeks. :wtf:
I was not contributing to the XS through the weekend ..
+ From 13th I won't contribute [ Wrath of the Lich King release ] I'm sorry for that but It's a must ... :hehe:
I decided to take a couple of days off , our office is running out of pencils I can chew
yea maybe thats my problem right there... ive got 3 different monitors hooked up to 4 different comps, and im trying to do all 4 comps at once :)
maybe im multitasking a bit to much
and im definatly not liking vista on my main rig, im thinking of going back to xp on it and forgetting about the smp on the cpu...
Is this the meter I want to buy ???
We seem to be holding team whoopass at bay...
The 5748's are killing our team production though.
