Enter BIOS, go to the hardware monitor section where you can read your vcore, fan speeds etc. Where it says vcore, set it to disabled. I believe thats how it is, havent had this mobo for a while now.

I decided a few weeks ago to turn on C'n'Q, works really nice here with no issues to the Overclock ..... BUT ......
If the PC goes Down into "Sleep" and if i wake him up, my Temp readings for the Cores reads 0 0 0 0 ....
CPU can be read normally, but the Cores are all 0 0 0 0
is there a workaround or fix for this problem?
Edit: the temp read seems only when i push the HT for the overclock
thx
Well....lets start all over. Ok so we got the Version 803 BIOS installed and it works (to sum up the last few weeks of discussion).
is more stable?
or 703 is better?
According to my own overclocking and testing, 803 is MUCH more stable than 703. I'd like some confirmation from several other users though. Get on it people!
ok..thanks
I will try
interesting findings, Coon and quiet couldn't work properly while Q-Fan is set to Enabled, it jus shifts the ratio but it doesn't change vcore at all..
After turned Q-fan off (PC health monitor) CnQ worked properly giving me.

but keeping VCore setting in BIOS to "Auto" (1.456) , which is way too high
I see on the Asus forum there is a Beta 0901 BIOS out now. ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...3A79-T_Deluxe/
I don't use Beta's and there really isn't any information on what it does. But it is from Asus, so I'll wait for the official release but posted the link for anyone that wants to try it.
Thanks for the heads up Stoner133,
I'll be the guinea pig... ;)
** EDIT ** Well, I saw it up there earlier when I was at work. It's gone now though...
Guess I won't be trying it.
my 955 arrived today.
booting into vista x64 at 3.8ghz/1.35v is very nice ;)
but i have to work on stabilty... prime95 bsodīs after about 3mins (uncorrectable hardware error has been detected)
i just downloaded the 901beta bios. will try it when i get up, in about 8hrs.
edit: is the 901 really a beta bios? itīs not flagged or named anything like "beta" on the ftp site. will see how it goes in a few hours.
I would assume that since 0901 isn't listed on the normal download site it must still be a beta. I just checked again and it's still not avalible from Asus USA web site.
It isn't listed on the global site either, but the BIOS History contains this:
[ 0901 ]
----------------------
Fix the problem that CPU Vcore might not drop to appropriate voltage when Cool'n'Quiet actived and Q-Fan enabled at same time.
It seems that it's just a quick fix, no major improvements.
0803 Bios and a PhII 955...anyone else seeing temps that seem higher than they should? I have mine under water, 1.375v ant 3.7Ghz thus far (just started OCing) and its already at 50c. That seems high to me.
Check the thermal paste and seating of WaterBlock,, i know its a pain but that may be more than a little higher than normal @ only 3.7ghz.@ 1.375volts
Hmmm 720BE there is a Temp differance in Bios using 803 vs 703..
(0030 X3 to X4 bios) I use 1.62volts on my 720 for X4cores @ 3700mhz. Idle in Bios is 32c
56 -60c is thermal cut off/protection if i rember correct.:D
Bios wise,,
803 is the most reliable and recomended for 955,, The Bios Does report Higher Idle temp for my Tripple Vs the 703,,Ive read other people with 945/955 have slightly higher temp too.
Also 803 Bios my 720 @ 1.64v @3900mhz/2600nb it shows 30c in Bios and In Vista im @ 27c. i checked my W/B with thermal probe and its 22c. My chipset is also 22c. So id say the Bios is ramping up the temp .
Im using water too.
The 0901 Bios is basically CnQ optimazations and C1E update. It seems to work now with CnQ but offers nothing More. When its made Official it will most likely perform same as 803. Im Back on the Official 803 after trying the 0901 this morning. There was no gain for me . CnQ does work with C1E for the most part though. Since i dont use CnQ ill stick with 803;)
gOtVoltage, thanks for the update, I'll stick with 803 for now.
Yeah 803 is rock solid,,
Hhaaha now i think ill turn me 720 back into a fourcore lol.
. Mod Bios seems to be a hair buggy in doing the 4xdo.
Ive found that AHCI is unstable with the 720Mod bios(0030) and it likes 533/667/800 divider the best, .. also my 720 likes the 15x multi and 18x multi when using 4cores. Hopefully ill be able to get more than 3680mhz.
also using +4 ACC not Auto(auto works to get me booted first time .Then to achieve 3.68ghz on 4cores i need +4. Once i set it i forget it!
iīm on the 0901 bios right now.
i hoped this bios would also fix the "auto" cpu vcore error.
when the cpu vcore is set to auto itīs at 1.47v. so i have to manually set 1.35v to get an almost stock vcore (cpu-z reads 1.37v).
i still get no boot at 4ghz, same behaviour as on my 940... slowly iīm suspecting my psu, cause itīs a hard reset no bluescreen or error message, just a power down and then a reboot. iīll tear apart my old rig and test the ocz gxs 700w.
You could be pushing that PSU ,,i Max around 4.ghz with the 720 running on650watts.
My auto volts @ 1.46v CPU and 1.20v NB when i use VDD @2.8v ACC +4 all cores. CnQ disabled.
Same on 803 and 901.
Note: 3x to 4x 720,,
Im keeping my 720 a 3core because the Mod bios is too buggy even when running with out ACC enabled it has several bugs.
Quick question:
Is it possible to change the characteristics of Q-Fan ? I know there are the 3 basic control settings but what I'm after is something like my old 939 dfi lanparty ultra where I can specify the temperature at which the fans are driven to 100%. Water cooling keeps the temperatures down nicely and Q-Fan is not really designed around this. I've been messing around with various options but it would be nice to give my fans a bit of boost without resorting to external controllers :).
You would set the Fan speed to the highest level or use Disabled for Max fan speed. I dont believe you can preset the Temp bump up speed.
Thers no option to do so ATM.
fan warning speed i keep disabled. Im on water.
That's what I thought :( Thanks anyway.
I can't get SpeedFan etc to control the speed either, another quirk in the Asus bios. Grrr, come on Asus, your bios is good, just a couple of little tweaks and it could be great
Oh well, back to trying to interface the mb fan header with my t-balancer... just wait for the big bang  (I know I can use a 'software sensor' with the t-balancer but that means relying on software :shudder: )
Official Beta 0901 ...I believe it only works with the Beta ..Speed Fan didnt work the best in 803.
Select the Os your using then try o901.....Qfan is 99%:Dfixed in this Bios or not as buggy as 0803:up:
http://support.asus.com/download/dow...A79-T%20Deluxe
CHARGED .. saving for a AM3 mobo ...The UD5 is AM3/DDR3 and M4-T deluxe..Ive noticed that lots 720X3's do X4 the Best on AM3 Mobo. Maybe has to do with running DDR3 IMC ,,using DDR2 is just palin buggy with 4cores unlocked
By fixed do you mean adjustable ? I'll probably give it a try.
Meanwhile, direct MB fan header to t-balancer analogue interface :) Not perfect, not quite linear and probably only working through pure chance...
http://www.i2net.me.uk/files/WaterCo...Interface1.jpg
.. good enough for now and not bad for someone with only cookbook electronics skills :D Testing nervously and waiting for it all to go bang :caution:
SpeedFan 4.38 fan control working with bios 0803.
Maybe a re-install helped but most likely the problem was between keyboard and chair  I'm not a great fan (no pun intended) of target temperature control, it may be ideal for air-conditioned rooms but not so good for my situation. Still, it does what it says on the can. Now if Asus would give me a little more control over Q-Fan, a'la dfi 939 ultra max speed at T, I'd be a happy man, for an hour ;)
Just a quick question...
Has anyone had any luck unlocking the 4th core of a 720be using this board?
And did you have to use the beta bios from the other thread?
4th core ? Sure, under 703 at least, my 4th is borked so I've not tried it with the later bios.
Thanks ecat..
The 4th core on mine works, I'll try it on the Asus board.
Hey guys, I'm in the process of RMA'ing my Maximus Formula (sound DOA, NIC's died just now) and if they let me I wanted the M3A79-T Deluxe in return. So I'll retire my q6600, get a 955BE to go with this board and try to run my 8GB of G.Skill 8000's. I had a different board in mind first, but this here would let me reuse my RAM.
Is the whole thing a god idea? Thoughts?
I cant get mine to unlock with 803 Bios ..
Do you have to make shure Three of the four cores read 0 and only one Core is bumped up or down?
Its odd 803 wont enable it for some reason on my Mobo.
My 720 will do 3700mhz on X4cores with Mod bios though ?
Did you do a CMOS clear before Enabling the Fouth core with 0803 Bios.
Ill keep trying with 803,, for some reason it will only work with MOD 0030 Bios on mineATM
I run a 940 and a 720 on this board and it is a nice combo. Board is solid and I got my 940 to 4.2ghz stock water kit. 3.9ghz 100% stable I was am running 4gig tho, haven't tried 8. I think it is a good idea, the Phenom II x4 955 BE is a better chip then the q6600. No matter how you slice it.
Ok i just tested My 720 and Mobo with 0030 MOD BIos... I have to set NBvolts to Auto for 1.20vid and i use 1.568v for CPU to keep it happy @ 3700mhz with 2150+nb....
Maybe i had my volts to high for the 0803 Bios to enable it @ 3900mhz.
Gonna reflash again and power off PSU CLEAR CMOS and see what happens.
This is where im @ ATM
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...hz0030bios.jpg
What's the default for the BIOS setting "Processor-NB Voltage"?
That's what I was hoping for, a solid board. And maybe running 4GHz while folding. :p:
But let's see what the store says first, thanks man.
Would you think the NB/VRM section need water/extra fans (also, is water on the SB needed? I would slap on a small Enzotech HS..)? Sorry the only thing I ever fiddled with on AMD was with my Turion MT-34 on an MSI board, and that I only undervolted. So in short I dunno what needs extra cooling (and seeing that VRMs are rated 125°C and upwards I wonder if it's needed at all).
Default Bios NB @ 1.20v with Mod Bios and 803 Bios.
My Chip refuses to run 4xcores on 803.
It does like The Mod Bios for 3700mhz but is Slower than what i can tweak with X3cores.
I finally am able to Get 1200mhz ram stable with 2700Nb @3900mhz X3cores.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...0nb1200ram.jpg
It takes a lot more .10 volts more for 1.648v@3900 vs 3700@1.55v and extra core:D.
Mobo wise Im using the STOCK Heatpipe and Only CPU is watercooled. This Mobo is a solid performer for the Volts ive hammered through it over the Last Year 24/7 Above 1.6v......
gOtVoltage: I didn't do anythng special to get it to work on 803.
I tried these ACC settings with no luck:
Auto, All Cores 0, All Cores +2 and Per Core All 0.
When I set it to Per Core 0,0,0,+2 it worked! I haven't played with it a whole lot (been focusing more on the OC), but I have tried a couple other settings and it seems like anything with 3 0's and 1 @ +/- 2 at least booted.
I flashed the bios with a 940 installed. I doubt it would make a difference, but it may have written some low level code that makes it work on the 720.
Thanks, so the board is stable and there's no real need of highend cooling. Now I only need the ok from the shop.
But after asking that I realize that you could have rightly pointed me to the forum search, this exact topic of necessary cooling of AMD boards is already covered, for example here. It always annoys me when people are asking questions that have been answered couple of times before and now I'm doing it myself. Sheesh. :shakes:
I managed to reduce the Vcore from "AUTO" (1.456V ) to 1.38~1.39V @ 3.6GHz
Lower than 1.38 the board won't boot and I have to clear CMOS, reload the settings again every boot
How bad is voltage droop with this board btw?
Well gOtVoltage , after a little more time testing with the 4th core enabled you were right about 803.... It does ok with mild stress and the short benches I use to rough things in, but when I really push the system I can't get it stable even when I lower the 4th core down to 13x using AOD... I'm sure you jinxed me. Ya happy now, Bastage... :D:rofl:
This chip doesn't seem to like high v's either, I could only get an extra 100Mhz on the Asus compared to the Biostar, and the Biostar seemed to run the 4th core stable (more testing required).
Guess I'll be swapping parts agian this weekend...
charged3800z24: Looks like I should have bought your spare 720 man... :p:
Actually the M3A79-T overvolts a little.
Another beta BIOS:

Thanks.. Will post back my findings in a bit.
Ok while im downloading the 64bit Win7 RC i decided to Load the 902 Bios.
I can reach 4014mhz with less volts now.
Seems theres a few Bios tweaks added for more stability.
Temps are the Same as 803..
.AHCI work like a treat.
The 902 may be the one for me to get 4100/4200mhz stable.
As for x4cores on a720...it was a no go for me. Again to double check i reinstalled 0030Mod and did 3700mhz X4cores. Then unistalled and flashed 902.
It would not give me that extra core. Oh well.
902 As with the 803 bios . When i set ACC -2 on CORE zero it will default Volts to 1.408:shrug:v That is the only bug ive found so far. CnQ works same as 803 and may be even more stable.
I can use Auto ACC/Per core/Allcores just fine with the 720 (+4allcores)..Its only when Core0 (-2 is enabled )where it lowerers the volts.
Ram timing is the Same and i can go Above 600mhz with 800/1066mode no problem. You just need to loosen things up to do it with some finicy rams.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...ios4014mhz.jpg
This is a good Overclocking Bios. It used to take 1.65v to do 4ghz. Im liken it a lot actually.:yepp:
gOtVolTage
gOtVoltage: I'm just curious man, when you say 4 cores with the 720 is a no go, do you mean it won't even post or it's just not stable?
I'm asking about release bios btw, not the mod version...
+++++ 902 .
I can use any ACC setting and it will not unlock.
ACC works just like its suppose to When adding -/+ volts.
+++++ 902 wont unlock this 720chip at all. I know the 803 tries to and sometime will enable it ,but the 803 was buggy and no where near stable. 902 nothing happens period.
I can unlock and run chip @3700...Using MODbios only. Most stable.but you can only use 14x multi and have to raise HTT to clock.
Just can not on 803 // 902. Its a Bios Firmware thing . The MOD bios uses a Older Firmware before ASUS updated it.
I was really hoping the 902 would of had a hidden ACC Firmware feature like the new Giga Bioses . So you could use old/to unlock or new/to not unlock firmware for the 720 tweak. Oh well.
I'm testing a system with a 955BE on this board with 2x2GB GSkill PI 6400, aiming for ~3.8GHz with 225x17 for 900MHz on the ram (PI 6400 usually does 900-1000MHz) on this board, in short I'm struggling with it. I've tried CPU voltages voltages between 1.35 and 1.55, changed the RAM. Which BIOS would you recommend for this system (not sure which one it currently has)?
Is it normal for this board to not allow flashing back to an older bios?
Ive tried AFUDOS, EZFLASH and ASUS Update in windows, all give the error incompatible due to older version.
803 or the Beta 902 will work.
Keeping things simple ...Dial the ram first
Does that ram run as good as it can with 955 or is that what it did with your old chip?
If it can clock 1000mhz like below,
800@HTTx250. = 1000mhz @ 6-6-6-15- (800ram divider)UNGANGED
should be easy doable @3800mhz with timing tweaked and or HT,, i suspect HT/NB/ram/timing problems are holding you back.
Evenn my 720 did not hit 4ghz right away with 1150 on the ram ,,because the HT and NB didnt get along at the Same speed. So i had to offset it by uping the HTT and Raising NB above Ht speed. 1240+ is what i max clocked the Ram before i even started with the CPU/NB.
ALWAYS See what your ram can do ,,then find the Max CPUxmulti .You might want to run whith STOCK volts and 800ram multi (timing loose). Once you get somewhat dialed in probally 3700+ with that chip... then you Start adding tinyVolts as you go higher( just a little ) 955 should do 4.0g's at close to stock volts with good Air.
Keep the HT and NB around 2000 untill you get things stable.
Also VDD @ 2.8v and ACC to Auto when Raising VCORE and NBvolts to find a somewhat max clock. I use ACC to help get things Maxed then dial it down a hair untill stable.
What i run Volt wise(24/7)
Only thing i change is ACC if needed andVcore for CPU/NB or Ram volts. every thing else stays the same.
I have run 1200+mhz with the 720 @3900/2700nb on this Mobo Easy..PatriotViper can be very fussy too . @ 4'ghz 2200nb i run 1157mhz on the ram. I run my Ram very loose then tighten up things once i get my Max clocks i want to use.

(NO matter the CPU used)
CPUvcore and CPUNBvolts will vary Depending on what each CPU needs , Same goes for ACC.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...omputer001.jpg
ACC is the Same for my 720 as was the 9950 (+4). or Auto works fine for either chip. 955 shouldnt need it actually.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...omputer003.jpg
Last make shure you Disable Temp Monitor and VcoreVoltage. or youllg et boot warnings in all Bioses.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...contest005.jpg
Ahh yes. I dont really like to force a flash, I've been burnt before with that. But while this issue is highlighted , id just like to say that asusupdate needs a fix the options menu has check box to enable flashing old rom, but as mentioned comes up with an error.
i had the same issues with my m3a79-t and a 955...
it wasnīt even stable at stock clocks. prime would either give out erros within 5minutes or just bluescreen. no matter if i set the ram to 1066mhz or 800mhz or below. tested on the 803 and the 902beta bios.
did u try to prime it at stock clocks, or did u start right away with 3.8ghz?
Flashed 902 last night, same results....
Bios and AOD show the setting for the 4th core but it doesn't function at all.
Version 803 did unlock it, but would never run stable when stressed. :(
Yup, me too. Even tried a bunch of CTRL/FN combinations in bios menus hoping for a hidden menu with no success.Quote:

Sorry for the big SS, but this 720 is a killer chip for $140 and I wanted to make sure it was readable...
I really tried to push the memory this time and it did quite well! Almost 1200 Mhz on DDR2 with pretty tight timings... :)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._MaxStress.jpg
Maybe I'm easily amused, but I was pushing the system REALLY hard...
Five pass IBT, listening to some tunes, surfing the net and checking E-mail with all the sidebar apps running at the same time...
Nice IMC/HtRef clocks too, and the V's are within reason with sweet temps...
I'm gonna put the 940 back on this rig this weekend, but the 902 bios has fixed alot of problems and I really don't think you could ask alot more from a $140 chip (720be)...
I was reading the Xtreme News secton tonight at work and reading alot of the hardcore Intel guys knocking AMD's PhII chips...
I just don't see them being inferior, they take a little more work to tune, but if you take the time they definetly hold their own... :yepp:
I hear ya on that one.
These chips are fun to tweak. Once you know what they like , the numbers game dosnt do it justice.
Ive set many Intels for friends and when they sit at my PC ,, there like yours is fast.
I laugh and say," But your Intels @ 4.6g's and im only @ 3.6g's with da Old 9950".
Its funny ,, the price is like that too:rofl:
Hi,
i am just trying since two days to find a stable setup (on vista64 ultimate) to run i.e. super pi 8m & 16m without errors using the 902 bios with Mushkin DIMM Kit Black Ascent XP2-8500 4GB PC2-8500U CL5-5-5-15 (DDR2-1066) and a 955.
tryed multiplicators from 13x up to 19x,with different volts,ht & nb combinations and different ram timings.
any advise what could be wrong ?
MfG
I have a question for you folks....
I put the 940 back on the Asus today and I thought I'd push it a little harder since the new 902 bios is installed.
I'm running into a problem I haven't experienced in quite awhile. It starts with little sparkles (video corruption) on the Win7 load screen and sometimes during regular operation.
I've had this happen before and bumping up the HT voltage has ussually gotten rid of it although I've never had to go over 1.3v to fix the problem.
The bigger problem is LOUD OBNOXIOUS audio corruption! So bad that it scares the hell out of my cat (and me too)...:D
I've had the noise problem happen before as well, but I could never figure out a way to fix it other than just lowering the clocks.
Seems like these 2 things may be related, and could very well have something to do with the HTLink (or SB voltage). Does that make sense to anyone else?
I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to just throwing voltage at a problem unless I know I'm throwing it in the right place.
Does anyone have any idea what may cause these symptoms and what the solution may be? Or have I just reached the limits of what my system/chip can handle..
Heres an AOD SS of my current setting (with the 79-T ov actual core is 1.54):
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._AODStress.png
Disable auto express in the bios, 117mhz on the Pcie is a little high IMO. I have noticed Video corruption when its running too high.
Try that, and see if the Video problems go away.
Thanks Raiderman, actually I don't have Auto Express enabled. It sets it at 124 and I did have some trouble with it in the past. It does seem to improve video performance to some extent so I manually set it to 117 and haven't had any problems with it since (with a slight bump on HT v's) ... ;)
After alot of tweaking I actually did get things up to 19x207 (3933 core) and was pretty close to having it Wprime/IBT stable. That was at 1.575 Vcore and 1.35 Vimc.
Then I smelled something burning...
Scared the crap out me! Turns out the ceiling fan on my Antec 900 case died, so I just went back to my known good settings....
I'm sure there is more in this 940, and the fan dying had nothing to do with my OC, but I'm kinda buzzed so I'm done for the night...:p:
I'd still like to know if anyone has a fix for the Sparkle and audio corrution though... ;)
As for the Video corruption and the PCI-E bieng 124........
Try this ,,
Set HT to 1.28v
Go into te PCI bios menue where you set the Lanes and PCI-E slots.
Press f4 to access Lane #2 and Lane #11 these are the 16x slots..
Set both to 200 and 16x and Autonogotiation.
When overclocking i can run 3870x2 @950mhz /4850 @800+mhz and /9800+55nm 800mhz+ /260-216-55nm 750+mhz with zero problems @ 290+htt.. The windos load crap happens when the CPU isnt Stable. Youll barely se the dots (when they get spinning bigger in Win7) then wham(reboot). 64bit will do this sooner than 32bit with Catalyst Driver before 5-5-2009. Use the one dated 5-5-2009 for best stability. Ive ran so many other cards for friends but those four have been in an out at least 60times haaaha. So i know all about what the 124 pci does. Its most likely not the coulprit ;).
STOCK PCI @100 = (in AOD ,Why 124, AOD why) PCI in BIOS i Keep @100 24/7. As for the sound..It sounds like you own a Creative Audigy or X-Fi pci... You need the Most recent driver That out. I have had that pop and High sqeel with frozen looping sound while gamming . The newest driver fixes the Vista borking. If it crashes with On board Audio get the Nwest ACL Realtek codec for what ever Os.
Had both of your problems before on this MOBO.
Press F4 to access Hidden menu when your in CHIPSET menu.
Then choose PCI EXPRESS CONFIGURATION.
You should now see PORTS #02 - #12.
#02 and #11 are the 16x lanes or ports. The first option is to set AUTONonomous or Autonegotiation.:D
Then set lanes to 16x
then I Set lane watts to 200(default is 75)..I do this no matter what card i Run ATI/Nvidia. This helps alot When overclocking or pushing a 3870/4870/4890 Set to at least 150watts if your gonna push the Cards and or the HTT.
Mine has been 200 from day one.
As for the L1 to L0..
Leave the L1 and L0 on auto. you never need to touch it.
I believe it is AUTONOMYS. Cant remember though/
I have a PCIE x4 ARC-1210 RAID controller, and a PCIE x1 TV Wonder 650. Will increasing the GPP wattage from 25w to 75w hurt anything? Also I made the change and switched my PCIE Ports #2 and #11 to 150w. I only have the first PCIe x16 slot populated with a 4870. Will I blow up my rig changing these settings LOL? They're new to me and this post got me curious as to what the advantages and disadvantages of raising these wattages are.
The watts for Raid and Sound cards PCI-E up to 4x should be keept @ 25watts . Thats all thas needed. For 8x 75watts - 200watts depending on Videocard. Most cards that pull 150watt plus under load will do best with 150-200watts. This will not hurt the Mobo ,it adds stability to allow the card to stay more stable under 100% load even @ stock or Overclocked.
Youll notice that when overclocking a videocard that the Higher lane watts allows the Card to achieve a higher Overall Overclock with out causeing the Driver to error.
Ive tested this with many cards and 3870/4870's @ 150- 200watts in the slot. Allows much higher OC on the Cards with better driver stability.
9800+/260/280/ and so forth like arond 150watts any Nvidia Dual GPU card 200watts will do.
When not overclocking or pushing the HTT/Southbridge 75watts is fine for the 8x and 16x slots. I have found that even with my 3870x2 that @ 75watts it maxes @ 880mhz both cores . When i run 150+Lane watts for the 16x lane I can Clock 945mhz both cores. The chip set and mobo seem to like this with power hungry cards.
If i was gonna hurt anything ,, would of toasted this M3A79-T long ago.
Trust me ive pushed every limit possiable :D
gOtVoltage: Just wanted to say thanks man!
I only have a 4850 in the main slot, so I just raised the voltage to 125w, but it did eliminate the sparkle problem....
Concerning the 0902 BIOS:
HOLY CRAP! I just noticed that my system will not even boot at STOCK SETTINGS with Auto Express set to DISABLED. Without it enabled my system goes into an endless reboot loop at startup. Does anybody else experience this when Auto Express is set to disabled?
No problems with 902 here and Auto Express disabled.
Did you change your ram voltage that might be causing the reboot loop might be trying to run 1066 at 1.8v instead of 2.1v according to your sig.
Mine runs fine on 902 with AutoExpress disabled as well.
I run my PCI-e clock @ 117 (set manually) though, guess that could make a difference...
902 like the 803 for me.... Auto Express works oN/OFF.
Try a clear CMOS then check Ram Volts HT amd basics...Even Bios temp for abnormal reading. Make shure you CPU vcore is where you set it to. Your volts for the OC on CPU vcore. Ive seen mine mysteriously change only with 902.
Sometimes when im clocking alot with high volts...beer or tweaking HT to Much.
The Mobo will drop to 1.408vcore after a windows shut down. Upon My next restart it wiil then say im @4.0ghz (but im Manually set in BIOS @ 3.9ghz) If i move the HT up/Down 1setting even a single MHZ,, It fixes the problem,,, raises the volts back to 1.63v or what ever insane volt i was running that day:D.
If by chance the Pc does this = rebboot/it will always tell you Press F1 for setup. TWeak the Voltage and or HT up/down and reboot . Walla problem will be gone.
Note:
40c+ @ IDLE( Mobo may do a reset mode from High temp.( Ooohstock cooler for Fun. )
Thats about all ive seen in 902. Most of you will never see a 40-50c idle , let alone @1.65volts for CPU/NB:D
803 didnt do it to me , im tweaking on the 902 too much:ROTF:
Nice machine you have built there ......BarrelRider:yepp:
This Mobo just performs . 955 has a good clock with low volts . AMD has definately has come a long way since Phenom B2 :D
@gotvoltage: do you mean Catalyst : 8.612 5/5/2009
Windows 7 WHQL Driver
i cannont find the version you sugested ....
But ur right, the 9.5 screws up early, will test the 8.612 5/5/2009 Windows 7 WHQL Driver
regards
ok, flashed the Bios 9.2 and installed the Catalyst 8.612 5/5/2009 WHQL, i'am back @ 3.9ghz, due to the Heat outside i have to go down to 3.8ghz,
i think i need better cooling :)
Temp wents up to 60C under load ....
regards
Yeaup,, Heat will do that .
When My Room hit 95f couple weeks ago i had to turn my Oc down from 4ghz to 3.95mhz . Im on water..so just a small bump down worked. Thats @ 1.56volts. When your Voltage is Higher Sometimes you will need to lower that too ,besides a simple MHZ adjustment.
Now if the NB is also overclocked you can lower it a notch. Then your not having to lower the CPU's HTT or Multi for Highest Overall. Since the NB adds a lot of heat when overlocked.
As for Win7 yes the WHQL 5-5-2009 you listed is corect. That is a 9.4catylist version. I have not tried 9.5yet with Win7 .
The 9.5 works for me the Same as 9.4 does under Vista 32bit.
Definitely I'm love...:yepp: Nice Audio from auzen, estability from Asus, power from Ati-AMD, I got an 940 previously, both could reach same top speed of 3.85Ghz on air here... the difference is how it primes rock stable
Prime95 64bit x4 20Hrs
955
CPU 3.72Ghz @ 1.40V | NB 2.65Ghz 1.27v
Before
940
CPU 3.62Ghz 1.48V | NB 2.50Ghz 1.32V
I had nothing but BSOD (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) with my Asus Xonar DX drivers (cmudaxp.sys file) and the 902 beta BIOS. The Xonar DX was in the bottom most slot.
I did a force flash back to 703 and no more BSOD. This was on WinXP64.
Just my 2c. :)
I had to take out my phenom II 940 and put my sempron Le1150 to get this thing to boot to windows :/
I even had a few problems getting it to boot to bios with the sempron.
wth is going on ???
well I don't think its my power supply (I don't have money for on of those now)
but probably my power strip is old and probably not giving me all the power it wants and needs.
I couldn't boot with two video cards in, or with my phenom II 940 in.
booted fine with single video card in and just my sempron le 1150
try with PC pluged directly to wall sockect.. Its cleaner power instead of going thruogh strip.. Or you need i High end High current strip that dosnt pull the power down under load from sockect.
I always bench with the PC direct to the Wall , no strip between.
I only have a 650watt and its maxed.
Install first card ,, Install driver,,reboot install second card and bridge install driver if asked and then reboot.
Then Make shure Catalyst has it enabled . Sometime it will install decent with Both cards in , but ive always doen one a time with my old 4850's.
My 3870x2 installs ,,Like Xfire for dummies lol.
New 0905 BIOS arrived, don't know anything about it:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...3A79-T_Deluxe/
Edit:
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3374/m3a79t0905.jpg
I wonder if this board have Official release BIOS support Athlon II x2
I am kinda worry to try Beta BIOS for my main PC
Is 905 another Beta or is it an official BIOS release? Still not listed on the US site but that's normal, they are usually a little slow out in California. Can't expect them to update the site till after the second run to Starbucks.
