What is this???Quote:
1. Fix the system may show "Failed to flash!" in CrashFree.
so what's the verdict on 1202?
Flashed to 1202 from 1004 no problems detected so far, I am running an E0 E8400, haven't overclocked or anything yet.
no problem with bios 1202
1202 working good for me too.
Are there any changes with 1202 from the 1102?
i'm happy with the 1102 right now.
but still there is a crash with the hyperX pc2-8500...
no changes here for me.
Tried 1202. Had BSOD and lost bios settings after reset. Back to 1102.
My system is e8200 , p5ke , 2x1gb corsair ddr2 , his iceq4 4850 ...
system totally stable on orthos small, large, blend 8x500 = 4000 mhz but !!!! in games not stable with this settings , I'm trying all of bios not not not ! please suggest !
I applied pencil mod this mobo ? maybe system not stable for this ?
nice to see this mobo still kicking :)
I'm now 8x515 1.360 all orthos stable , games seems stable so far , if it crash I'll write this topic
Well you started saying the p5k wasnt stable. You didnt mention you are pushing 515 mhz FSB
why are u trying to push the FSB so high? Do you have cooling on the NB - cause you need it for 515 mhz FSB...
So this isn't about the P5K not being stable then, it's about trying to push the FSB too high. You should clarify that when asking for help regarding stability. I'm sure at stock it's stable then?
My graphic card is running at pci-e x1 speed with this MB.I got e8400 OC to 3.8 and i can't find any problem why GC is running at pci-e x1 speed.Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated in advance.
All these new P5k series boards seem to have some messed up USB hub issues that can hang the bios at bootup. Took me forever to narrow it down.
So if you're still getting problems with hanging bootups just realize it's lousy USB hub support and try shuffling what's on the hub or just disconnecting it completely. A lame workaround but apparently the only other solution is to roll back to 0504, except that'll give some unknown CPU errors since it doesn't fully support most of the newer CPUs.
Hello all. I've read through bits and pieces of this thread, saw that someone had used Bios 1012 and that got rid of his pci-e at x1 problem. I'm wondering if there is a newer Bios that doesn't have this issue or should I just go to the 1012's from the 1006's?
I've played around with the pci-e bus speed, going from 100-106, and it will work for a bit after I change it, but it randomly drops to x1 on reboot. If I then reboot again and change the pci-e frequency it will go back to x16 for a while until some future reboot where it will be x1 again. (This is using the 1006 bios).
I can confirm this statment, my comp primes / memtest without a problem but blue screens sometimes with referenace to io / memory problem. And sometimes say's it cant find bios  Anyways i tried to install vista again just to try under this weird problems. Windows! tipped me that it can be because of loose cables or usb connections. So i took out all crap from usb and what do you know it worked. MY :banana::banana::banana:ING GOD ASUS *FACEPALM* I just used 9 months to figure it out. It helps to change from hi speed usb in bios to lower speed if you dont need the bandwith for your usb items. Hope this can be of any help.
EDIT: Just to clearify, my stability is not affected aslong as i use the onboard usb, but if i use the usb on the ehh case that is connected to usb hub on mainboard it goes bluescreen random, mostly after 3-5 hours of computer usage, when it's off for couple of hours it's stable again for same ammout of time. ASUS enginers really need to talk to the managment at the firm and tell em to stfu and give em enough time on mainboard testing / bios.
Hi guys,
Just got a Q6600 G0 low VID (1.225v) and can you give me some BIOS pointers for clocking it? Same as my E2160 or some changes?
Bios 1202 ok -- it fixed my USB keyboard (w/ hub) boot-freeze issue -- but, lowered my pci-e link @ 1x causing crap 3dmark scores & stuttering games ... :(
i set vMCH -- 1.4 and pci-e spread spectrum to "Auto" and now it's 16x again! :) (vMCH >1.4 will set link to 1x)
I'm having a bit of trouble.
When cold booting or pulling out of hibernate (running Vista Ult 64) my ethernet port won't kick on. I have to restart, occasionally twice, to get the port to work.
Any ideas?
Same problem here. I bought another LAN card because I thought integrated was dead.
Hey guys,
just picked up a E8600 EO week 22 and have it at 4.5ghz at 1.36 vcore but no major tweaks at all and was wondering if you guys can lend me some of you settings for similar clocks.
its in windows and benches no probz but core 1 fails prime in seconds.
just need a ballpark guide so as i can work on tweaking this badboy to 4.8 or beyond if im lucky...ps im on a very good custom water kits so temps not really an issue
cheers
for the help...
Gordy!
NINJAGORDY, can you please post your bios settings? :-)
Based on my bios settings....what do you think I should try to get more out of this?

It would seem that I need a lot more voltage to move up from here.
The memory at those timings and FSB and beyond that (520).
I did try relaxing the memory and didnt help either.
It seems that I m stock at 4.2ghz.
With a Scythe Ninja first gen I am afraid of giving it too much juice. According to cpu-z under load the vcore drops to 1.336
Thanks for any recommendation.
any comments about my setup above?
Those are nice timings at that speed. I thought I had read that DRAM Static Read Control being disabled can help your ram overclock.
Your settings are almost the same as mine for my E8400 at 500x8.5, although my ram is 5-5-5-15 and I'm running 4x2GB. With LLC enabled on the latest bios I only get .008 vdroop.
So I'm assuming it is safe to run 1.2 fsb term? I remember reading about everybody manually setting 1.3 since 1.2 overvolted, but that was with 65nm CPUs that didn't have 1.1 as the lowest option.
Hi folks.
I have bought, one more pair of Mushkin 8500 ( 5XX599 ), and im running, a total of 8gigas.
However, i can rum stable more than 800:confused:
Is this normal limitation with 8G of RAM, for 35 Boards?
Tks.
Yeah Shaolin looks pretty good. although you might try to set your strap on auto and get your mem off the 1:1 and use a divider for more mem speed (try the 5:6 ) timings of
5-5-5-5 to 5-5-5-6 or even 5-5-5-8. I amd surprised to see you having to run such high DRAM voltage. Do you have a fan on it?? I also ran the 8.5 multi? Have you tried the 9?
My E8400 would top out at about 4554 on the 9 multi.
I have great air cooling so I am able to hit my cpu with more volts than you. I ram the cold air into my case!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...lla/yikers.jpg
That low pi time is due to running 2 instances at once.
It isn't til I get up to over 530 fsb that I go back to the 1:1 on the mem but I run tighter than you are.
Perhaps you should try to tighten up your timings.
I also ran my NB volts at 1.6 and my cpu pll at 1.65 at those high clocks.
You can see my temps were cool!! And the e8400 is over a year-old and running fine and the board is 1 1/2 years old and running fine.
The mem is still in great shape!!
You will note I like bios 1006 the best with a Wolfdale....
I never even messed with CPU GTL or NB GTL or Clock over Charging.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Zilla/85pi.jpg
My highest cpu score on Aqumark # with my P5K-E Wifi.
I run G.skill 6400 HZ and as you can see it will run 600 plus with the dividers and 550 1:1 with tight timings all at 2.15V.
I run my S.B. At 1.2 V.
Today this motherboard andsystem is in my living room and is part of my home entertainment center
It now runs my Q6600 at 3600 mhz daily I haved it hooked to my 55inch lcd. We use it to watch Blu-Ray Movies
It stores over 20 gigs of music. And yes even on a 55in. LCD TV it plays all my COD games GREAT!!!
It has been one of the best motherboards I have ever owned... Solid and Reliable!!
WZ
Im using p5k-e/wi fi edition,
and q6600 1066fsb,
I hade 4x1gb kingston 667 Mhz.. and i sold them
to buy 2x2gb kingston hyperx 1066mhz
Now my system, counts my 2x2gigs as 1x1gig..
This is the link of the ram memory that i bought
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104097
i didnt doo any overclock, its all in auto..
later i can post screen of my bios..
Thanks

Hi guys I have a P5KE wifi that I need to RMA due to fault.
Anybody know the toll free ASUS number for motherboard support??
This is what I used to use but it is not working anymore 1-812-282-2787
thanks in advance
^anyone?????
The 1006 BIOS is no loger in the ASUS website, WeldZilla what makes you say that's the best for Wolfdales? I've got a 8200 and just bought a Ninja 2 (it was with the stock Intel HSF lol).
Also, anyone tried the beta 1301?
For those who still using P5Ks. The basic setup for P5K is something like:
PLL 1.6
FSB 1.2~1.3
NB 1.4~1.55
SB 1.05
CPU GTL x63
NB GTL x67
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=541468 E8500 C0 on air with a Premium. Not my best chip, but a fair result.
I flashed 1301. So far it's working ok.
PLL 1.6
FSB 1.2~1.3
NB 1.4~1.55
SB 1.05
CPU GTL x63
NB GTL x67 for quad core/ x61for dual core ;)

There's a new bios 1305. Did anyone try it?
Quote:
1. Update JMB controller Option ROM.
mursaat let me clarify my statement about the best bios. the 1006 is the best bios I have run for MY system. I think my numbers bear that out.
If the new bios solves issues for others then that is great. I have had no issues. I also don't run a hub or use Vista. This board for me has never had so much as a hiccup.
WZ
Sometimes my motherboard doesn't detect the video card (HD 2600) on a warm boot but never on a cold boot. I tried a card from another computer and the problem didn't occur so I replaced the graphics card but I've started having the same problem with the new card (HD 4770). The power supply voltages all look good so I'm starting to suspect a fault in the motherboard. Can anyone suggest ways of determining the cause before I replace anyhting else unnecessarily?
Hey, is here anyone who is runing P5K-E with 45nm quad? With Q9550 E0 maybe? What is the highest FSB you can get to be stable even at lover (6x, 7x) multiplayer????
It looks like hard to get past 450 fsb for me, but with 65nm Quad I can easy get 470+, is the board of CPU problem :shakes:
Yeah i also want to learn , can our mobos handle Q9550, if the answer is yes, can we make it run stable @ 4ghz... ?
Hi..
I've read some conflicting reports about the Thermaltake CL-P0114 cooler and P5K-E mobo. Most agree that the cooler will fit the board but someone suggested that when mounted, it's not possible to use all 4 RAM slots as the slanted heatpipes get in the way.
Can anyone who has this board and the Thermaltake CL-P0114 cooler confirm whether that is indeed the case as i'm thinking of buying one?
Many thanks :)
i also still have 1006 bios :P
I'm thinking about using my P5K-E/WiFi in a small storage server setup. I'm planning on using 2x 400GB Hitachi @ RAID 1 for OS and FTP + 4x 1TB Samsung @ RAID 5 for storage.
Has anyone tried 4x 1 TB (ie. Samsung F1) in RAID 5? And if so, how are the transfer rates?
The rest of the setup looks like this:
E5300 @ air
2x 1 GB Crucial PC2-8500
Cheiftec 350W PSU
Greetings from Portugal :)
I’m having some problems with my OC, hope some of you guys could help me.
I get it stable with the config in the pictures below, the problem is when I restart, gives me 1 long bip followed by 3 short bips (Graphic Failure) and the PC starts normally cause I hear the windows logon sound but with no image. If I shut down instead of restart never happens what I’ve described.
When I put my bios on default it restarts normally every time, so it’s something related whit OC settings.
Thanks in advance, any help is :welcome:

You'll be lucky to even get a response from this lot but I had the exact same problem (refer to my previous post). Try upping your NB voltage; it worked for me.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that later and see how it works.
Another thing, I’m having some problems pushing my RAM, even with 2.2 V, do you known if it’s because all slots are occupied?
Can't really help you with that one, I am using 2 x 2GB. My advice is to overclock as high as you can with auto voltages and work very slowly from there. If you've scored a good CPU then you should get a decent overclock at stock voltages (except for the NB, of course).
My board is an early revision and I've used various CPU's (E4500, E8500, Q9550) and RAM in this board and never found it easy to overclock. The early BIOS revisions were terrible. Often tempted to replace this board with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P but i7 is the way forward.
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated
This is where I’m standing now, always gives an error running Prime95 Blend Test, even put the VRAM at 2.2 V but didn’t work as well.
By the way, Cwelle, couldn’t find 1.45 on NB only 1.40, the next I suppose its 1.50
Any ideas, will be welcome
The rest of the settings are: FSB 1.40 V; NB 1.40 V;VCPU 1.2500 V (bios)(CPU-Z 1.224 Idle/1.216 Load); CPU PLL 1.50 V; VRAM 2.1 V
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9596/19913613.jpg
Ok, it's 1.40V not 1.45V. :)
Try to up that VCPU a little bit. You are safe under 1.35V.
Back again :D So I get it stable (Blend Test and Small FFTs) whit the following settings:
FSB – 405 ( 3654 MHz)
RAM Freq. – 811 MHz (4-4-4-15) 2.1 V
VCore – 1.2375 V
PLL – 1.5 V
FSB – 1.30 V
NB – 1.40 V
Pushing any further, only brought trouble, even 410 fsb whit 1.2500 Vcore and 2.2 Vram, it failed both tests. I know it can goes a lot further then this but my RAM are olden me back, they can go higher but only whit CL5
Another thing is bothering me (hope I’m not being very annoying :D) .
The CPU temps, which I think it refers to the socket are always higher than the cpu core temps, like CPU 48Cº and Core 1 and 2 around 38Cº, I found that everybody as it the other way around the cores are higher than the cpu, I’m measuring whit Everest and HWmonitor, could it be the BIOS given me wrong information?
hehe after almost 2 years still active? :P
one hell of a mobo i guess :>
Hi guys,
I am currently running Windows7 RTM and want to update my BIOS.
The drop box does not display Windows 7, should I select Vistax64 or Other?
Or wait till ASUS fully supports W7, if ever?
I didn't know this board does not fully support W7, even though the drivers seem to all work, including the wireless adapter and onboard sound.
(Currently have 1012)
BIOS file is the same for all OSes. Choose whatever you want.
I have Win 7 RTM. Works great.
man i've been running a stable overclock of a Q6600 @3.6 and 2x2gb on this board for over a year then a few months ago i got random BSODs. I finally tracked it down to needing more vNB. In the last 4 months i've had to up the nb voltage tiwce:
voltage/time it lasted:
1.4v 1 year
1.55v 3months ago
1.7v needed as of today
edit: i should add:
vNB: 1.55v = BSOD/hard lock on any load
vNB: 1.7v = memtest x4 200% stable/occt 1 hour stable
Before you ask, i've tested everything probably twice now, ram modules, cooling is the same (and clean, no dust), same psu, i have not tested stock clocks b/c i refuse to run stock or lower clocks and the only setting (i've tested every setting individually) that lets me run this stable was and is higher vNB.
i'm only complaining because i think my MB is dieing as i've seen this before with another s775 board i had (different model).
Any thoughts?
You should better use different motherboard for quad processor. This MB is great for dual cores but not so great for quads.
It's true for 45nm quads. This MB cannot achieve very high FSBs on 45nm quads.
Dual Channel Issue
Hi guys, the my P5K-E does not detect DUal Channel even though I placed the mems on slots A1 and A2 (Yellow and Black as per manual, a dual channel setup)
- Bios 1202
- Corsair CMX2048-8500CD 2x 2048 MB DDR2 1066Mhz
Also,
PCI-Ex 16x @ 1x
PCI-Ex is set @ Auto.. but it goes down to 1x.. I was able to go to 16x when I was at 440mhz FSB.. but then I went down to 435 and bootstrapped at 333, it went to 1x..
Any ideas how to fix these?
Try different slots.
What's your NB voltage?
Yeah its fixed. 1.55v
Yes thank you.. the manual really is confusing. It should be on a1,b1 or a2,b2 for a dual channel setup.
The PCI-Ex has been resolved also.
Now I have a new question..
why is the ram latency and bandwidth too slow? Im running the mems @ 1056Mhz 5-5-5-18 and Im getting 7500MB/s-ish memory bandwidth and 76ns on the latency in sandra.. When I was in my 780i, on the same oc, it was 10,000MB/s bandwidth and 45ns latency... Sorry, I came from nvidia mobos and really am a noob on intel chipsets..
You should lower that NB voltage.
Is it stable?
If I were you I would try dram timing control enable. The rest seems fine :) you have almost everything at the minimum voltage which is very good
With FSB Strap to North Bridge at 400 what option do you have for the RAM Freq.?
That was an old shoots.....now using less 400x9 on easy :P
So does anybody know if 76ns for latency is normal? Was getting 46ns on a 780i before on same mem settings..
At 500*8 (RAM@1000 5-5-5-15) I have around 55ns.
I see.. so 1:1 is the best for the P35s... ok. Must be the dividers. Thanks man!
Only gripe is that my degraded E6850 is only stable @ 3.9Ghz 1.51v.. but my rams can reach 1066 @ cas5.. looks like no choice but to run it in 490*8 and tighten the mems.. but I also wanted that high mem bandwidth. :|
Cwelle, are you running whit the specs in your signature? Can you please share your voltage settings on BIOS, you have a good OC on RAM, especially whit 4 slot occupied.
Yes, I'm running this setup 24/7.
Here are the settings:

Im planning on getting a Q9550 for this workhorse..
Thanks!

Probly the best I can do with the aging P35 :(
Danged thing wont reach OS on 3.9ghz lol.
btw, Is 1.368v high for the clock?
:p: Yes you are very correct. 455 was my tops (and would require 1.55  the nb volt which makes the pci-ex run @ 1x forcing me to lower the oc back to where 1.4v nb oc area )
Frackin board and its 45nm quad handling. Time to get me one of them p45 (that DFI p45 jr is going for 150 dollars here and I got this Q9550 2nd hand which only costs 180 dollars. Pretty much cheaper than going to a bnew i5 and ddr3)
is FSB the Vtt voltage?
I'm going from a E8400 C0 to a E8500 E0, so i have to update my BIOS version to at least 1102. Which is de best bios for me to use (so it has to be compatible with de E0 revision)?
Also, I'm running a RAID 0 array. Can I update my BIOS without any problems of the RAID array (loss of data/not recognizing anymore)?
And what is the best way to flash a new BIOS?
