I bought a Vantec NST-360SU-BL eSATA/USB2.0 enclosure, and it worked just fine when I plugged it into the motherboard's eSATA outlet.
However, I picked the SATA3 plug for the slotcover outlet that came with the Vantec unit to provide a second connector, and that one doesn't work. No sign a drive is connected to it.
Can you just use SATA3 (or SATA4) for something other than RAID? The manual said use SATA1 for boot and SATA3/SATA4 for data drives. Do I NEED to change the default RAID_SEL jumper setting to make SATA3 available for non-RAID use?
There's also the SATA_RAID1 plug, but I'm not sure it can be used in a non-RAID setup in conjunction with the external plug, although I do have that BIOS option set to NORMAL.
Thanks...
Here was my max 24/7 stable back in september... Haven't used the P5W DH since then...

I have tried pencil mod several times but does not seem to work for me. Volt meter no change. What program are u guys using to show proper memory voltage? i cant find any. By the way nice fsb speed. My X6800 needs way to much vcore to post above 400fsb no matter what multiplier i use.Quote:

I am on BIOS 1602
I can't get above 369 x 9 on L632A CPU for the life of me. Everything is disabled, I mean everything. I have been following your guides to the T. I turn the ram on SPD or my own timings and jack them up as high as the BIOS will allow me. I get in to XP and set Memset to have higher trfc is it all the way up to 40 and beyond.
I will take CPU voltage to 1.55v even and I cannot get past 369fsb period.
Orthos will restart within one minute if not the second I run it at 370 or 371, 373, or 375. I cannot......get past 3.32ghz....
Ive ran 8x multi and tried for higher FSB's and it doesn't want to do it.
Is it the BIOS revision I am on?
What can I provide to you guys to help you narrow down whats holding me back?
Im sure u need more vcore. I need 1.6 for anything above 370fsb.Quote:

How do I know what board revision (1.03g, etc) I have?
It doesn't seem to be listed on the box or on bootup....
I have a P5W and a E6600 and using Core Temp it shows my 2 cores being 118 degrees F!!!!!!! That is under a load WITHOUT OVERCLOCKING!!! In other programs it shows it as being 90 degrees!!
I understand the temperatures are measured by different sensors but is this temp. too high for the reading from Core Temp.???
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/392Use intels thermal tool to measure temp and see if its still that high. u can down load it here http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/392Quote:

Thanks in advance. BTW, the more specific, the better :)
100% load = 47 degrees
Idle = 41 degrees
Look between cpu and memory slot near top of board u will see rev 1.0... bottom right of.... Digital HomeQuote:

OK, thank you - mine says 1.04g, and I got it from Newegg... so it seems they are shipping the new revision. I read earlier in the thread that someone thought newegg was only shipping 1.03g.Quote:

I had a desire to run my SATA HDs and my IDE cd/dvd rom drive off of ACHI instead of IDE (which is PATA). I read somewhere that you can use AHCI MODE instead of Standard IDE mode (even after you install XP. AHCI is suppose to be installed when XP is installed using F6 during setup) and in some cases AHCI will work better. However, its a true PITA to get it up and running because once you install XP any AHCI driver is simply not recognized by XP. Even if you download Intel's Matrix drivers it will not install regardless if you use the bootable disk version Floppy Configuration Utility or if you use the .exe version Intel Matrix. Until I stumbled upon this thread that explains it to a T although unorthodox it does in fact work. Once you finally get XP to load using AHCI you then go back and update to the lastest Intel Matrix if you like (if necessary).
Folks I have found a thread that explains it very well just follow the instructions because you have to edit one of the install files so that it will install drivers for the ICH7R and not ICH7M.
This does in fact work I did it myself for P5W DH DELUXE and it worked flawlessly. XP still loaded about the same time but the explorer is a bit more responsive. I haven't tried games like BF2 yet. Word of warning, you have to put "ONBOARD IDE OPERATE MODE" (found in the IDE Configuration of your bios) to Compatibility mode then below that select S-ATA (forget what it's called). This is what I did and it work flawlessly. I am sure keeping your "ONBOARD IDE OPERATE MODE" to Enhanced mode may work as well but that's not what I did.
After you reboot with the drivers installed you can download Intel's chipset Identifier to make sure you are in AHCI.
Please note:
Use this method if XP refuses to install AHCI drivers when you attempt to update the driver within device manager!
Hi, not wanting to contradict but I have managed to update the sata drivers to ACHI without have to mess around with any editing. Infact the process is described quite clearly on the Asus forums. You just update the driver within device manager then reboot and change the bios setting over to ACHI, simple...
