I managed to sell my other pump and maze4 to a freind for $60, he wont be overvolting his CPU like I do, so it works out nicely for both of us.

excellent cpu

i'd like to add my 2 pennies for opti170 CCB1E 0550VPMW
2700mhz at 1.22v
2820 -- 1.275+4%
2860-2870 -- 1.325+4%
3020 -- 1.425+4% (not stable due to my poor cooler)
i'm very happy with this cpu, but also need to replace air-cooler for some kind of water-cooling

p.s. beg pardon for poor english.

i also have to say my previous SD4000+ only were able to run at 2800-2840mhz with 1.55v :)

here in russia water-cooling not widely used (due to cost and usually much lower income rate), so no many offers from sellers (and usually something like zalman reserator -- :nono: )

now i'm starting from case modifications -- two of 120mm fans on top and bottom of case. everything hot now in closed case, especially PSU (about 60 C).

(one more time beg pardon for my low quality english).

If you can't get a decent WC, I'm sure you can put your comp next to a window and get some -c degrees from the Russian winds :D

Bah I need a whole 1.61v to get 2.8 even remotely stable (2 hours dual prime95). Time for me to get a decent chip :P Does anybody know how likely getting an 0550VPMW from a retail 170 would be? Anybody know any UK stores that potentially stock that week?

Very unlikely. VPMWs are like over, time to find other chips.

I ve seen a couple of them /acutally about four or five / a week ago on eBay and then -nada -nothing :)

Even the selling guy, who actually had I think four of them , is now selling 0551 UPMW s .
That s the stepping I had and the 170 managed "only " 2750 with 1,55 VCore. Sold it and, hopefully, tomorrow comes CCB1E 0550 VPMW of mine :p:

I am hoping for 2800 stable, anything more´d be a nice bonus :D

Burning has helped my chip a lot. Started 1.45v (with IHS) for 2600, and now I'm at 1.4v. Temps droped from 1.45v IHS on at 50c to 1.275x113% IHS off at 44c to 1.4v at 42c :woot: so 8c drop temps at the same speed. Seems maybe I can keep this until AM2. Time to /unsibscribe from this thread? I don't want to see more 3ghz with 1.4v :mad: :p:

Is it available in the US ?

I am using their equipment including the cooler on my 1900XTX and I am very happy with it .
BTW the X1900XTX s cooler cools the voltage regulator on the PCB, which is unique .

I have a 0550UPMW 165 and I'm prime stable at 2.53ghz, stock voltage for now. It needs more volts to do more.

However my temps are sky high. Still running retail cooler (which is pretty good I heard), waiting for a replacement bracket for my XP-90.

Anyway, I get 53-55 full load, case open. IHS has been removed and reinstalled with AS5. I did the same with my Venice back in the days and got a 10 degrees improvement.

Looks like this one just wants to run hot :( Am I the only one in this boat?

Could be a deformed IHS, in that case using AS5 on it isnt going to work, it just needs to be gone.

I even tried with the Venice IHS, pretty much the same result.

You're not alone, dualcores can be very warm, usually the hotter opterons clock higher with adequate cooling.

I trust you modified your mounting bracket for the IHS-less CPU? :p:
